DAY 2, Tues Arrive in Lisbon and travel to Santarem. Take a short walk down the narrow streets to the Church of St. Stephen, then continue to the site of the blessed Sacrament known as the Holy Miracle of Santarem. Continue to Fatima (D): FATIMA DAY 3, Wed Visit the Basilica of Our Lady, The Chapel of Apparitions and the House of Francisco and Jacinta. Time for individual spiritual activities, visits and sightseeing (B, D): FATIMA DAY 4, Thurs Depart for Coimbra and visit the convent where Sister Lucia lives. Return to Fatima (B, D): FATIMA DAY 5, Fri Continue westward into Spain and on to Salamanca, the city with the oldest university in Spain, founded at the beginning of the 13th century. Tour Salamanca including the University and the New Cathedral (B, D): SALAMANCA DAY 6, Sat Depart for Avila, the home town of Saint Theresa of Avila. Visit the convent and magnificent fortified walls. Travel to Segovia and view the famous Roman Aqueduct and the Alcazar. Early evening arrival in Burgos (B, D): BURGOS DAY 7, Sun Morning mass at Burgos Cathedral, one of the most beautiful and largest Gothic basilicas in Europe. Enjoy a city tour, including a visit to Miraflores Carthusian Monastery. Afternoon is at leisure (B, D): BURGOS DAY 8, Mon Early departure for Santo Domingo de Silos, a Romanesque monastery built at the end of the 11th century with a beautiful cloister. There you will hear the world famous monks singing their heavenly chants. Continue north to San Sebastian and into France. Arrive in Lourdes in the early evening (B, D): LOURDES DAY 9, Tues Today, visit the Basilica of St. Pius X, the world's largest underground church, and Holy Mill where St. Bernadette was born in 1844. Continue on to the "Cachot" (Jail) where St. Bernadette lived at the time of the Apparitions and the Grotto of Massaibelle, where the Blessed Virgin appeared to St. Bernadette. After dinner, attend the Torchlight Procession starting from the Grotto (B, D): LOURDES DAY 10, Wed This morning, travel back to Spain and visit Jaca and the Cathedral. Then, continue to Huesca to visit the Opus dei Santuario de Torreciudad. Next, travel to Zaragoza, where one of the world's largest Marian Shrines, Our Lady of the Pillar, is located (B, D): ZARAGOZA DAY 11,Thurs Tour Zaragoza, including the fragrant Basilica del Pilar, which was visited by Our Lady before her Assumption. Continue to Madrid (B, D): MADRID DAY 12, Fri Morning tour of Madrid. Visit the Plaza Espaņa, the Royal Palace, and other important sites of the capital of Spain. Balance of day at leisure (B, D): MADRID DAY 13, Sat Transfer to the airport for your departure flight (B). |
