Become acquainted with Bucharest, the Romanian capital, once nicknamed "Little Paris." As you tour the city, pass by and admire the beauty and enormous proportions of the former People’s House, now known as Palace of the Parliament. Constructed almost completely from materials originating in Romania, the imposing structure dominates Spirii Hill, and currently houses the country's legislature. Continuing the tour, view Revolution Square, the Romanian Atheneum, Opera House, National Military Club, Patriarchal Church, Military Academy and the Triumphal Arch before being transferred back to your hotel.
Full Day Royal Palaces & Draculas Castle
Full Day Royal Palaces & Draculas Castle Day #4 01 Apr 2008 - 31 Oct 2008     $115
This daylong excursion visits some of the most interesting and famous Romanian Sites. After an early departure, drive through the scenic Prahova Valley to reach Sinaia, one of the most popular mountain and ski resorts in the Carpathians and the favorite retreat of King Carol I, first king of Romania. Here, visit the splendid Peles Castle, former summer residence of the Romanian Royal Family, and the Sinaia monastery, erected in the 17th century. Continue to Brasov, one of the most important towns of the area during the Middle Ages. Visit the Black Church (closed on Sunday), the largest gothic building in South Eastern Europe, which houses a collection of unique oriental carpets. The tour also visits the St. Nicholas Church and the First Romanian School in Transylvania. After lunch at local restaurant, drive to Bran village and visit Dracula's Castle, built in the 1300s on a 190-foot-high promontory by the merchants of Brasov in order to protect the border between Transylvania and Wallachia. Following time at leisure in the local market return to Bucharest.
