Costa Rica & Guatemala Reviews

5 Day Classic Guatemala, August 2010

We all had a wonderful trip to Guatemala. My guests were very happy, I was so glad to be able to show them the place where I was born and where I grew up. The drivers and the guides all professional, patient and just plain polite and friendly. A JOY. We were lucky to have only a little rain. I heard that this week was just horrible due to the rain. Thank you to all of you who contributed to the planning and execution of our trip. Thank you specially to you, Donna, for all your help and patience with my group.

5 Day Classic Guatemala, August 2010

Once again Gate 1 has gone out of their way to provide a wonderful experience at an affordable price. The Barcelo Hotel staff were knowledgeable, courteous and kind. It provided a beautiful respite for 3 nights. The buffet breakfast was by far the best we have ever had in all our world travels. Fresh food, well presented and omelettes made to order!

Our guide, Carlos "Il Gordo" made the trip even more memorable. We seldom do escorted tours but he made Guatemala come to life. Our groupof 17 ranged from age 5 to 72 with canes. He was constantly aware of his guests needs and gave everyone a chance to do as much or as little walking as we wanted. I was truly impressed with his compassion and ability to please all of his customers. His history of the Mayans, anecdotal stories and command of several Mayan dialects allowed us to access a new world. He is to be commended on a job well done as is Miguel, our driver, who's driving skills kept us safe during all types of road conditions.

The Mayan Inn was a palace in comparison to the local homes. The staff and especially "our right hand man", Manuel, attended to every need. Such professional gentlemen we did not expect to find in rural Chichi. Our dinner and breakfast were also delicious. What talented chefs we encountered.

Our best meal was lunch at the White House during our stop at Lake Atitlan. From soup to nuts they provided a wonderful anniversary celebration. Their pumpkin seed pesto and tiramisu were amazing! We can't say enough good things about the Guatemalan people. We look forward to our Gate 1 trip to Panama for New Years.

Thank you for all the thought and ground work Gate 1 puts into their trips.

10 Day Costa Rica Fly & Drive with Tortuguero & Guanacaste, August 2010

My trip was fantastic. It was everything that I expected and more. Definitely adventurous. We have cruised for the past 10 years and wanted to do something different. This was different. The hotels, the cities we chose, the rental car etc. Everything was on point. All of the guides were on time and made sure we had what we needed to proceed. They never left us hanging. I would use your services again and recommend people to you. Thanks and we had a great time.

We had a FABULOUS trip! The hotels were WONDERFUL and the guides some of the best we've ever had. We have traveled extensively (all seven continents) and really appreciate the great value and quality we have received on the two GATE 1 trips we have taken.

7 Day Costa Rica Fly & Drive, July 2010

I wanted to personally thank your organization.. This was my first experience with Gate 1 Travel and it won't be the last. Your staff (particularly Josh) was helpful and answered every knucklehead question I threw at them with aplomb. Other than a minor initial glitch at the airport locating the rental car rep, everything, and I mean everything went as smooth as hot budda.

We'll meet again somewhere in the future. Again, thank you.

10 Day Costa Rica Fly & Drive with Tortuguero & Guanacaste, July 2010

Costa Rica was magnificent. I don't know that I'd stay at all of the hotels that were part of the package, but everything was just perfect! I've travelled quite a bit and this place was by far the best place I've ever been. I'd definitely go to Arenal and Monteverde again in the future after I discover more.

Thank you so much for you help and I look forward to booking another trip with you in the future.

The trip was great! The price you all charged for everything should've been a crime! We did and saw so much and the accommodations were great! Can't wait for the next travel deal!

7 Day Affordable Costa Rica, July 2010

We would like to thank our guide, Heiner. Not only is he an excellent tour guide but he was so caring and helpful. During the trip, my husband felt ill and had to be airlift to the hospital. Heiner was so helpful and caring for us the whole time. He was with us to ensure that we would get the help we needed since we could not communicate with the local people. Also, we would like to thank your local tour guide, Danny, who came and picked us up from the hospital. The tour in Costa Rica was wonderful and we will plan to go back again. My husband said he will take the canopy tour and finish the zip line. Thank you again. From now Gate 1 Travel tours will be the only tours we will take.

10 Day Costa Rica Fly & Drive with Tortuguero & Guanacaste, July 2010

Fantastic! All of the arrangements made by Gate 1 were great, I will recommend it to friends. Having a GPS was essential, I can't imagine finding your way around Costa Rica without it. All of the locations were wonderful in their own particular way. We really loved Monteverde and the hotel Tilajari in Arenal. We think the beach at Guanacaste was disappointing, but everything else was great. We recommend that your customers take the Fair Trade Coffee tour rather than the others. It's just as informative, the guides are great, and it profits the coffee growers more directly. We loved Tortuguero. The food was iffy at the lodge but everything else was very nice though. We liked the last hotel, Sol Papagayo. The pool is great, the food was fine, but the rooms need upkeep. Thanks for all of your arrangements and the quick responses to my questions.
