12 Day Belgrade to Zagreb, June 2010 It was a great trip. Clean country, clean bathrooms, knowledgeable tour guide who knew interesting pearls of wisdom about the sights and had a great delivery of his talks and a sense of humor (Elvis). Mediterranean diet - food tasty, healthy, ate all I want and lost a few pounds, good variety of types of sights and activities. Enough walking and hiking and exercise. Hotels were comfortable, Zagreb Regent was just luxurious. And most impressive of all, THE MEN!!. You must make this a sightseeing trip for single women to go to the cafes and discos. At all ages, they are in great shape - all tall, dark and handsome with that square jaw and broad shoulders of the Slavs. I have never seen so many great looking guys, one after the other, everywhere. (the best looking are Serbian). -- Sharon H. North Reading, MA |

12 Day Belgrade to Zagreb, June 2010 The trip was fantastic even though there was a flight delay hiccup in the very beginning with Continental. I really appreciate the phone assistance from Stephanie - her rapid return call when the flight was delayed 5 hours was comforting. Shawn's help once we landed in Frankfurt and our flight to Belgrade was "not happening," was greatly appreciated. It just proves Gate 1 not only cares but is the ultimate pro all along. After the delayed start, everything worked perfectly. Milos in Serbia was genuine and an excellent guide showing us his homeland - we gained a new perspective on Eastern Europe from the get go from his vast base of information. Once we landed in Montenegro, Elvis met us and the second leg of the tour was picture perfect. Elvis, our driver Joseph, and a wonderful travel "intern" Irena, made the remainder of the trip one of the best of the best ever. Elvis has his tour guide "mindset" timed as a precision watch - he never skipped a beat with all 26 travelers - it was remarkable. He is so skilled at his craft. The trip was nothing short but amazing - thank you and we will be using Gate 1 next year for another adventure. -- Sheila A. Spring, TX |

10 Day Croatia & Slovenia, May 2010 The trip was fantastic! Croatia is a country of many facets and even though we did tons of traveling, we felt like we really got to see so much of the countryside. The guide was superb and very knowledgeable. The only thing I will do next time is probably add a few extra days at the end to either visit another location or just relax at the beach! Nicely done. -- Sandra F. Bedminster, NJ |

10 Day Croatia with 7 Day Adriatic Cruise, June 2010 We had no problem getting to the cruise ship. It was a pretty good tour, providing a good overview of the countries along the eastern Adriatic coast. We took most of the optional excursions - a couple of the local tourist guides (particularly, in Montenegro and Albania) were particularly great, very knowledgeable about history and trivia; the rest were so, so. Food on the cruise ship was very good, except that for breakfast, they have the same type of sausage everyday. The Filipino chef was kind enough to serve us a special Filipino (our ethnic heritage) food during lunch one day. Our cabin was kept clean all the time; friendly crew and staff (except for one lady in the reception area). A couple of the shows were good but the rest were mediocre. My husband enjoyed playing black jack at the casino. We were invited to have cocktails and to sit at the captain's table during the farewell dinner - that was a treat! So overall, we had a good time and gained a lot of knowledge about the emerging countries in this region. -- Usha V, Vienna WV |

10 Day Croatia with 7 Day Adriatic Cruise, June 2010 Another flawless trip with Gate I! All of the arrangements were spot on. Delivery to and pick up from the ship and the Venice hotel were right on time, the hotel in Venice was tops and in the perfect location for access to everything. The MS Arion was a lovely vessel for the Dalmatian coast - the access to the smaller ports gave us an opportunity to visit charming uncrowded places like Zadar and Kotar as well as the larger tourist laden ports of Split and Dubrovnik. The guides on the shore excursions were excellent. -- Mary F. Albany, NY |

12 Day Belgrade to Zagreb, June 2010 Great trip. The weather cooperated for the most part. Croatia, especially Dubrovnik, and Slovenia were the highlights. The tour guide in Belgrade, Luba, tried his best, while the guide for the rest of the tour, Rok, was exceptionally good. The tour group was also a good mix of Americans and Australians and we got on very well. The accommodations were generally good for the region, although a couple of hotels could do with better air-conditioning. All in all, a good time was had by all. Thanks for your help and patience in making the arrangements. I think our next group trip (perhaps next year) will be to Greece and the Mediterranean islands. We will keep Gate 1 in mind. -- Anthony G. Falls Church, VA |

10 Day Croatia with 7 Day Adriatic Cruise, May 2010 The trip was one of the most insightful journeys into an area we had never traveled. Everything went off without a hitch and we constantly mentioned to other travelers that Gate 1 has the most organized tours we have ever booked. This was our third with Gate 1 and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The most surprising was Albania. We had no idea what to expect there and it turned out that the people there are just as an eclectic mix as here in the U.S. They are a friendly, industrious lot and even have asked the question as to when Albania would become the 51st state!! This was when Pres. Bush visited a small town near one of our tours and stopped at a local coffee shop which was later named after him. Kudos to Gate 1!!!!!! -- Robert & Carol Floriani |

11 Day Affordable Croatia & Slovenia, November 2009 The trip was truly fantastic! The region is very beautiful, the local people seemed kind and helpful, and the group was small and an interesting mixture of very nice people (some of whom were world travelers). Nice and cool weather, with a few days of rain, never prevented us from doing anything planned or visiting the quiet tourist sites due to the off-season travel. One of the best guides, by name of Elvis, was well informed, patient, and tolerant. Also, we had good food, good hotels for the price, great scenic roads (except the bumpy trip to Montenegro), a good bus, good local guides, not to mention an itinerary that was just right, very clean restrooms, and all flights on-time! I would definitely recommend this affordable tour to anybody who wants to visit that part of the world! -- Usha V, Vienna WV |

12 Day Affordable Croatia and Slovenia, March 2009 In this fast-paced world, we sometimes fail to acknowledge or give praise to those individuals who are truly exceptional in their chosen field, assuming that they're just doing what is required by their job. Our tour guide, Jasmina is certainly one of those individuals worthy of considerable praise for her outstanding work. My husband and I just returned from a fabulous trip to Croatia and Slovenia with your company. Our trip was made even more wonderful by our remarkably knowledgeable tour guide, Jasmina. While we would have undoubtedly enjoyed all of the various cities, sites and coastlines we were exposed to, it was certainly made all the more interesting and fascinating by the kind of in-depth detail our guide, Jasmina, was able to provide. She set a standard of excellence with her efficient and pleasant attitude. Her helpful manner and professionalism makes her a real asset to your organization. It should also be noted that the "local" guides at each of our major stops were equally knowledgeable and pleasant as well. We were also pleased with the quality and cleanliness of the hotels and the efficiency in which your company handled all the arrangements for our group. Thanks for making our first trip with Gate 1 such an easy one. We are already planning our next trip! -- Sharon P, Alexandria, VA |

13 Day Affordable Croatia and Slovenia with Venice, March 2009 I traveled as part of a group of four to Croatia. We had a fantastic trip and were very very pleased with as aspects of the trip connected to Gate 1. We enjoyed our guide, Nichola, very much and felt he handled the group well in all respects. We were high on excitement when the trip began, but instead of the high decreasing with time, we found Sovlenia at Bled to be unexpectedly beautiful and different. The topper was Venice, from the race of water taxis into the city, another fine guide, to the accordian, tenor and champaigne on our gondola ride. We thank you for the grand plans. I had traveled with Gate 1 before, but my compaions had not. We were all happy. -- Mary C, East Lansing MI |
