Hide Info Delos, once a Sacred Island, is the legendary birthplace of the Sun God, Apollo, and his twin sister, Artemis. For 500 years the small island of Delos was the religious and commercial hub of the entire Aegean, and today, its only remaining inhabitants are its treasured ruins and their caretakers. Depart from the port of Mykonos by boat, cruising along the western coast of Mykonos, through Diles and Rhenia Islands, to the ancient harbor of Delos where you will begin your guided walking tour. You will first see Agora and beyond it, the Sacred Way, which leads you to the Temple of Apollo. Next, view the remains of a Hellenistic Quarter with its harbor, water house, and luxurious villas including the House of Cleopatra, the House of the Dolphins, the House of the Masks, and the House of Dionysos. Note the architecture and mosaic floors, which have survived over 2500 years. Continue to view the Avenue of the Lions, where five Naxian marble beasts from the 7th century B.C. crouch as vigilant guardians over the sacred lake, which stands dry today. Rhodes

Within the city, whose limits are guarded by 13th century walls constructed by the Knights of St. John, stands the Acropolis of Lindos. Rising some 400 feet above the sea, enjoy a spectacular view over the Aegean Sea and St. Paul’s Bay, where the apostle cast anchor during his historic voyage to Ephesus. Proceed uphill, on foot, to the great staircase leading from the Hellenistic Portico to the Acropolis and Temple of Athena. Should you wish to make your way by mule, a fee can be paid to the local muleteer. After your guided tour of the Acropolis, enjoy some free time on your own in Lindos before rejoining your motorcoach. Hide Info Drive along medieval walls to reach the summit of Mt. Smith, where lies the ancient Acropolis of Rhodes. From the tumbled pillars of the Temple of Athena, the view encompasses the nearby Temple of Apollo, the stadium of Diagoras and the port, once protected by the Colossus of Rhodes. Continue across the island to Philerimos, where later remains include the restored Byzantine Church of our Lady of Philerimos, a chapel with 15th century frescoes, and the ruined Castle of the Knights. Heraklion

Hide Info Crete is the largest and most rugged of the Greek Islands. It is also the ancient home of the great Minoans and the mythological God, Zeus. Taking the National Road along the North coast to Heraklion, arrive at the Knossos excavations*. Here, Sir Arthur Evan’s archaeological discoveries revealed a civilization dating back to 4000 B.C., when a great empire flourished on the island of Crete. Based on the artifacts he unearthed, Evan's theorized that this was the site of the ancient Minoan Kingdom. Evan's findings will be viewed in detail as your guide surveys the site with you. The Palace, decorated with frescoes and shields, houses the Hall of the Royal Guard, the Hall of the Double Axes, the King's Chamber with the alabaster throne, the Queen's Apartment, and beautiful courtyards and shrines. Afterwards, your coaches will take you back to St. Nicholas, a popular resort town on the bay of Mirabelo and offering a harbour area pulsating with activity, restaurants and cafes providing a cosmopolitan atmosphere. The landmark of the city is a small lake, known as "Voulismeni", that is located in the center of the city, at the foot of the cliffs. According to mythology, the goddess Athena used to take her bath in this lake. There are many open-air cafes and restaurants along the bank of the lake. Here you will have free time to browse in this beautiful town before re-embarking the ship. Walking in the archaeological site of Knossos is on uneven gravel surfaces. Gethsemane garden is at the foot of the Mount of Olives, famous as the place where Jesus and his disciples prayed the night before Jesus' crucifixion. According to Orthodox tradition, Gethsemane is the garden where the Apostles buried the Virgin Mary. The Church of All Nations, also known as the Church or Basilica of the Agony is a Roman Catholic church which enshrines a section of bedrock where Jesus is said to have prayed before his arrest.

Afterwards you will have a guided walking tour through the famous quarters of the old city. Until the 1860s this area constituted the entire city of Jerusalem. The Old City is home to several sites of key religious importance: the Temple Mount and its Western Wall for Jews, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for Christians, and the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa Mosque for Muslims.
