Full Day Florence from Rome Day #5 01 Apr 2008 - 31 Mar 2009     $169 Depart Rome via the "Sun Route" motorway, crossing the regions of Lazio and Umbria, to reach Florence. Refined by Renaissance Art and enriched by the Medici rule, Florence remains today the cradle of Italian language and culture. Visit the Accademia in the heart of the city to view the original David by Michelangelo. Proceed to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with its magnificent dome projected by Brunelleschi, and on to the Baptistery to view Ghiberti's "Gates of Paradise." Continue to Signoria Square with its Palazzo Vecchio, Town Hall, and famed Ponte Vecchio, the "Old Bridge." After time for lunch on own, proceed to Piazza Santa Croce.
