DAY 2, Sunday - Arrive in Rome
Arrive in Rome and transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day at leisure. This evening, enjoy an orientation meeting with your tour escort, followed by a welcome dinner

DAY 3, Monday - Tour Ancient Rome
This morning, a historic tour of "ancient Rome" takes you to the Roman Forum, the political center during the Roman Republic, the triumphal Arch of Constantine, the Arch of Titus and the Colosseum, the largest amphitheater built in the Roman Empire. The remainder of the day is at leisure

DAY 4, Tuesday - Tour Vatican Museum
Today begins with the visit to the Vatican Museums and Michelangelo's breathtaking Sistine Chapel. Stroll through St. Peter's Square, passing Bernini's famous colonnade, to visit St. Peter's Basilica, where you will view Michelangelo's Pieta. This highly-finished marble sculpture depicts the body of Jesus in the arms of Mary after the Crucifixion, and is considered one of the most powerfully moving works of art in the Western world. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure

Depart Rome via the "Sun Route" motorway, crossing the regions of Lazio and Umbria, to reach Florence. Refined by Renaissance Art and enriched by the Medici rule, Florence remains today the cradle of Italian language and culture. Visit the Accademia in the heart of the city to view the original David by Michelangelo. Proceed to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with its magnificent dome projected by Brunelleschi, and on to the Baptistery to view Ghiberti's "Gates of Paradise." Continue to Signoria Square with its Palazzo Vecchio, Town Hall, and famed Ponte Vecchio, the "Old Bridge." After time for lunch on own, proceed to Piazza Santa Croce. Here you may enjoy free time to visit the church where the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, Rossini, and Machiavelli are kept, or simply browse the local shops at leisure. The tour continues by coach on the Viale dei Colli to reach Michelangelo Square from where you will enjoy a spectacular view of the city below.

Upon arrival, view the white-marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon as well as the Saronic Gulf, which defines the eastern side of the isthmus of Corinth. Enjoy time at leisure to walk the rocky promontory the Cape of Sounion, a place used in ancient times to sight ships approaching Athens. The Cape, which offers scenic views of the outlying Aegean Islands, was first mentioned in Homer's epic poem the "Odyssey," as it was considered the "holy headland" of Athens.
