A serene oasis ringed by mountains, steaming sulphurous waterfalls tumble into naturally heated pools rich with minerals. King Herod frequented the healing springs at Ma'in, when these waters were known as Baaras, and built a villa at nearby Mukawer - where it is also believed that Salome danced and John the Baptist was beheaded (Matthew 14: 1-12). Ever since, Ma’in has been known for its hot springs and people come to enjoy thermal treatments or simply to have a hot soak.
