DAY 3, Sunday - Full Day in Budapest
Today explore Budapest, capital of Hungary, which was created by the unification of the historic towns of Buda and Pest in 1873. The colorful hills of Buda sit on one side of the Danube while industrial Pest occupies the other bank. The first permanent bridge over the river, the Chain Bridge, is the most recognizable symbol of the city. Other prominent sites include Fishermen’s Bastion, Matthias Church, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Royal Palace. In the evening set sail for Bratislava

DAY 4, Monday - Afternoon in Bratislava
This afternoon arrive in Bratislava, capital of Slovakia. Ranking among the youngest capital cities of Europe, the city still retains a rich history dating back more than 2000 years. Located near the borders of Hungary and Austria, the city was destined to become a center of trade and culture. See the Bratislava Castle, an imposing structure on a plateau towering nearly 300 feet above the Danube. Other prime sites include St. Martin’s Cathedral, the Town Hall and the Franciscan church, which dates to the 13th century

DAY 5, Tuesday - Full Day in Vienna
Arrive in Vienna this morning for a full day at leisure to explore the capital of Austria and the cultural and economic center of the country. Originally surrounded by walls to protect the city from invasion, the walls were removed in the mid-1800s to allow for growth and, in their place, a broad avenue called the Ringstrasse was constructed. Sites of note include the Vienna Opera House, Hofburg Palace and the Schonbrunn Castle with its splendid gardens

DAY 6, Wednesday - Full Day in Vienna
Enjoy a second full day at leisure to explore Vienna independently. Perhaps visit the captivating Natural History Museum or any of the various art galleries throughout the city

DAY 7, Thursday - Moring in Durnstein, Afternoon in Melk
Arrive this morning in Durnstein, located deep in the wine district of Wachsu. Perhaps take a stroll to view the magnificent castle surrounded by distinctive vine-clad hills, age-old ruins, and timeless picturesque villages with one-lane streets. In the late afternoon arrive in Melk, a small city in Austria founded in the 13th century and home to the massive Benedictine Abbey, built overlooking both Melk and the Danube River. A World Heritage Site, this structure ranks among the most important landmarks in Europe and is considered the pinnacle of Baroque architecture, with a vast library containing over 85,000 books and a towering copula that stands 210 feet tall

DAY 8, Friday - Afternoon in Passau
Arrive in Passau, where the Ilz, Inn, and Danube Rivers meet. Founded over 2000 years ago by the ancient Romans, today Passau is most well known for its vast collection of 30,000 pieces of Bohemian glass and St. Stephen’s Cathedral, which houses the world’s largest church organ. Passau is also home to the Veste Oberhaus, a substantial fortress just across the Danube, and a beautiful monastery. In the evening set sail for Regensburg
