Santorini Volcano Cruise

Enjoy a cruise aboard the motorized sailing boat "Pegasus" around the breathtaking island of Santorini. Sail to the island of Nea Kameni, and walk up to the still active volcano for a view of the Caldera. Sail to the island of Palea Kameni, where you will have the opportunity to swim in the bay's sulfur springs infused water. Continue to the island of Therasia, for some free time, and perhaps ride a mule to the village of Manolas. Return to the port of Athinios in Santorini in the afternoon, passing by the beautiful cliffs and the picturesque village of Oia.
Please note that this tour involves strenuous uphill walking on uneven surfaces and may not be suitable for all travelers. Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended. Also, the temperature of the bay's waters varies by season and the sulfur springs do not substantially increase the water's temperature.

Sail from Mykonos to the island of Delos, which was once the religious center of the Aegean and Cyclades. According to myth, Latonna gave birth to Apollo, the Greek sun god, and Artemis, the huntress and goddess of marriage and fertility on the island. View the Sacred Harbor, and the regal Sacred Way, flanked by stone lions leading to the temples dedicated to Apollo and Artemis. Visit the museum housing archaeological artifacts found on the island and the tourist pavilion.

During this tour, see and visit the most interesting places on the island. The first destination is the beach of Saint Ioannis with its picturesque little church. Get an idea of the inside of a Greek church (over 400 on the island.) Then the bus passes by Ornos beach, Saint Stefano beach, and Tourlos harbor, where all cruise boats embark and disembark the visitors by small boats. The tour continues to the most distant beaches, such as Kalafatis and Santa Anna. Afterwards visit the village of Ano Mera, well known for the monastery of Panagia Tourliani and the typical little square with the Greek taverns. Have the opportunity to taste Ouzo and octopus. After visiting the monastery and enjoying the enchanting sunset, return to Mykonos.

The tour begins with a panoramic drive through the city center of Athens. View Constitution Square, the Houses of Parliament, and the Evzones, an elite unit of light infantry, wearing their traditional uniform. Continue on to the Panathenaic Stadium, site of the first modern Olympic Games and the only major all-marble stadium in the world. Then, visit the Temple of Zeus and Hadrian's Arch. Finally, visit the Acropolis to see such monuments as the Propylea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechteion, and the Parthenon, often considered the most perfectly proportioned building ever constructed.

Today, enjoy a full day classical tour into the heart of Istanbul City, including visits to St. Sophia, the great Byzantine basilica built in the 6th century, and the world-famous Blue Mosque. The tour also includes a visit to the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum, featuring a vast collection of artifacts from the Anatolia civilizations. Continue to the Roman Hippodrome, the ancient site of chariot races and competitive athletic events. Afterwards, enjoy lunch at Konyali Restaurant, located on the Palace grounds. In the afternoon, visit Topkapi Palace, the former residence of the Ottoman Sultans. Visit the Treasury Rooms which house 700 years worth of priceless Endurun Treasure, making for the largest national trove in the world. Continue to visit the famous Mosque of Süleyman the Magnificent, built in the 16th century, and regarded today as one of the greatest buildings in the world, before making a final stop to visit the renowned Grand Bazaar, the world's largest covered market, featuring over 58 streets and more than 4000 shops. Today's tour of Istanbul includes a cruise on the Bosphorus, with lunch. The tour begins with a visit to the famous Istanbul Spice Market before boarding a ferry, crossing the Bosphorus into Europe and Asia. While visiting both Europe and Asia, enjoy stops along the way to photograph the 15th century Rumelihisari Fortress, as well as various summer palaces and old wooden homes. The cruise terminates at the fishing village of Sariyer, close to the Black Sea. After lunch, enjoy a pleasant drive to Camlica Hill on the Asian side, via the Bosphorus Bridge, to see Istanbul in beautiful panorama. For
your final stop, visit the Beylerbeyi Palace, the former summer residence of the Ottoman Sultans, to see its original furnishings and formal gardens.(L)
The Beylerbeyi Palace is closed on Monday and Thursday. Likewise, the Spice Market is closed on Sunday, as well as the following holiday dates: Sept 30 - Oct 2, Dec 8 - 11, 2008.
The Beylerbeyi Palace will be closed for renovations from June through October 2008 and will be replaced in the tour with the Dolmabahce Palace during that time.
