This morning embark on a two and a half hour drive from Shanghai to the ancient city of Suzhou. Located in the Jiangsu Province, the city has become known as both “Paradise on Earth” and the “Venice of the East.” The tour begins on the Grand Canal, the longest man-made canal in the world. As you travel leisurely down the narrow waterways and under elegant bridges you will have an extensive view of the ancient city and the daily life of the people who inhabit the banks of the canal. Before lunch at a local restaurant enjoy a stop at a local silk factory. Following lunch, visit the Garden of the Master of the Nets, a privately owned garden considered to be the most beautiful and perfectly proportionate in Suzhou. The Garden demonstrates the garden designers' adept skills at synthesizing art, nature and architecture to create unique metaphysical masterpieces. Later, enjoy free time along Guanquin Street, a famous street in Suzhou among locals for gathering, entertainment and food, and a favorite among visitors for its rich culture and sightseeing opportunities.
