This splendid baroque palace, as impressive as Versailles, was built in the late 17th century as a summer residence for King Jan Sobieski III and owned later by very important Polish noble families. The main building, consisting of 3 wings, housed the oldest museum established in Poland in 1805 to preserve the memory of the Sobieski family and represent spectacular national history moments of the time, including the Battle of Vienna in 1683 against the Ottoman Empire. The residence complex extended by large gardens and lake-side promenade, fortunately avoided deeper destruction in 1939-1945. After detailed renovations in 2010 and 2011, Wilanow Palace presents its valuable collection of royal furniture, portraits and china.
Departs at 2:00 pm. Pick-up details to be advised locally. Approximate tour duration is 3 hours.

It was absolutely fabulous! Galina is an exceptionally educated and organized tour guide. I loved the hotels and there locations. The itinerary and optional tours permitted me to explore the many wonders of Moscow and St. Petersburg.Linda Gale D. Laguna Woods, CA
Absolutely amazing. The reason was our guide (Ms Galina) at Moscow and Saint Petersburg.Kaushik J. Valrico, FL
All I can say is that this was our second Gate 1 trip and there will definitely be a third. Once again, your company has exceeded my expectations!! Galina was unbelievable!! Nothing short of perfection. Thank you for a fabulous Russian family vacation.Carla P. Jupiter, FL
Super! And I will be traveling with Gate 1 again! Galina made the trip to Russia very special!David C. Gainesville, FL
My trip to Russia was everything I had hoped it would be. The sites and tours were wonderful, the hotels first class and the arrangements were perfect. We had and excellent tour manger and thoroughly explored both Moscow and Saint Petersburg. I lam looking forward to my next (6th) Gate 1 adventure!Kevin S. Phoenix, AZ
It was wonderful! We were very fortunate to have Galina taking care of us. She lead us into the Armoury, the Hermitage, the Peterhof ahead of other tour groups so we could take advantage of a much less crowded room. She taught us the history of Russia. Everyone responded to her question: "What did tsar Alexander II do?" "He sold Alaska to the U. S." The restaurants she took us all offered delicious food. She also told us where to get an easy and cheap bite when we were on our own. The exploration of the Metro stations in Moscow was another plus. Most importantly, she made a large group like us traveling by high speed train from Moscow to St. Petersburg in a very orderly manner. This takes organization skills and years of experience. We would definitely continue booking other trips with Gate 1. And highly recommend this trip to anyone who is interested in going to Russia.Chu Ying N. Los Altos, CA
Superb! The tour director Ms. Galina is very professional! The hotels were clean & the breakfast were enormous!!! I'd recommend this tour to my family & friends!Irawaty B. Springfield, VA
What a fabulous trip to Russia! It exceeded all our expectations!. Galina, the guide, is a wealth of knowledge and fun! The hotels were centrally located and the group was great! Many thanks for all your help in making this trip happen.George W. Rye Brook, NY
The trip was excellent. My husband and I had a wonderful time. Everything went as scheduled. Our tour guide, Galina, did an amazing job. She is very knowledgeable and dedicated to her group. We were all amazed at her energy and thoroughness. She even got up at 3:00AM on our departure morning to ensure that my husband and I had a box lunch and that we left on time for the airport. Galina was great. Russia, Moscow and St. Petersburg, were very, very interesting. Unique and beautiful in their own way.Lydia T. Brick, NJ
The trip to Moscow and St. Petersburg was so much fun, and we learned so much about Russia. We used our time there well, and were able to see so many important sites. Our guide, Galina, was exceptional. She knew exactly what time to be where, how much time to allow at each place, and prepared us with background of what we were going to see. Our accommodations were luxurious, the best I've had in any European location. I highly recommend this trip.Dianna H. Kenosha, WI
Russia was a wonderful surprise. Gate 1, not so much of a surprise. since you guys are always great !!! Super hotels with great locations. Galina, our tour guide was very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and nice. She even sang for us on the bus and treated us with what she called "surprises". (ice cream, donuts...) I didn't know what to expect from this trip, other than being interesting. It was a lot more than that. Incredibly beautiful sights, so much history and art, plus the experience of the Liberation celebration. (also, perfect weather!). Our group was small, which I though was so much better that a full bus. Another plus for me, was the fact that we stayed more than just one night in a hotel, without having to pack and unpack every day. I would love to fine another tour in the future that spends several days in just a couple of cities. I came home tired, sore, with a cold and very happy.Ana W. Oxon Hill, MD
Wonderful.... Best guide that I every had. We lucked out with weather.Carol R. Celina, TX
We just returned from the 9 day tour of Russia which included Moscow to St Petersburg via bullet train.
Our local tour guide in Moscow, Irina, was excellent. From the time she met us at the airport until she released us at the train to St Petersburg, her performance was outstanding. She was so professional and knowledgeable and so very personable as we all explored Moscow. We specifically wanted to visit the Diamond Fund at the Kremlin during our leisure time...she provided every detail to insure a very enjoyable visit.
We cannot say enough about our tour director Galina. Her extensive Russia knowledge base, her expertise in presenting Russia history, Russia art, Russia leaders, Russia tourist sites, Russia A-Z made this our "million dollar" tour of Russia. She is a tremendous asset to Gate 1. We would love to visit Russia again! with Galina!!Donna S. Gaffney, SC
Our trip to Russia was very nice. Everything went so smoothly. Travel guide Galena was amazing. She told us in the first hour when we meet that she would be our "Russian Mother" for the week. She cared for our every need like a good mother would. Her knowledge of the country's history and present day was outstanding. Hotels were very nice. Galena always arranged for us to get into major attractions without waiting in line for long periods.
Thank you Gate 1 for a wonderful trip at a great value.Judith D. Uncasville, CT
It was great ...we were shocked to experience Russia for the first time...it was not what we thought it was. It was actually very progressive and St Petersburg never sleeps, just like New York.
Most of all Gate 1 did a very good job. Your tour director Galina was the best. We have been to 34 countries and we can say Galina tops them all...she was very detailed in giving instructions, cares about the group and most of all she is very knowledgeable of the history of Russia, an expert in Russian history (she said she teaches Russian history).
Thanks for helping us to be able to make this trip.Osocorro H. Hanover, PA
My travel companion and I had a wonderful trip. There were no glitches whatsoever and we were especially grateful for our outstanding guide, Galina. We learned so much from her and she expertly avoided crowds and made sure we saw everything important, even in the Hermitage.
We definitely will travel with Gate 1 again.Lurana S. Ft Lauderdale, FL
