The main building, consisting of 3 wings, housed the oldest museum established in Poland in 1805 to preserve the memory of the Sobieski family and represent spectacular national history moments of the time, including the Battle of Vienna in 1683 against the Ottoman Empire. The residence complex extended by large gardens and lake-side promenade, fortunately avoided deeper destruction in 1939-1945. It was fabulous!! Our tour guide Galina was very knowledgeable. Under her guidance we learned so much and everywhere we went she made it that much better due to her knowledge. She kept us all together and on track so we did not miss anything. The itinerary was very full. But when you go this far to visit another country you want to see as much as you can. Gate 1 accomplished this extremely well. I have used Gate 1 for other trips and will be using your services again.Beverly T. Swartz Creek, MI
First of all, all of the Gate 1 personnel were outstanding - knowledgeable, caring, and so very helpful. The cruise facilities were excellent, and the food was amazing including substituting for my wife's food allergy. The excursions were wonderfully informative, and the whole experience was worth the money including our flights with Lufthansa. We recommend Gate 1 to everyone we talk with, and will only travel with your agency.Kenneth S. Wells, ME
It was wonderful and great. I really enjoy the trip. The tour director is extremely knowledgeable, patient and organized. The grandeur of the buildings and palaces in Moscow and St Petersburg is awe inspiring.Chongkit L. Jackson Heights, NY
It was wonderful, Saint Petersburg and Moscow more beautiful than I expected. My first river cruise and eighth trip overall, and among my best. Tour guide Kateryna my great appreciation for organization. Gate 1 did an overall good job.Manickam B. South Pasadena, CA
My trip was wonderful, I really enjoyed every moment of it. I specially would like to commend the efforts of our Russian tour guide Galina. She was very knowledgeable and extremely caring about our comfort. Please let your Russian office know how wonderful she was throughout the trip. I certainly will use Gate 1 for my future travels and recommend it to my family and friends.Parisima H. Los Angeles, CA
The trip was fabulous! We had many expectations and some anxiety regarding this trip to Russia, as we were all taught growing up about the struggles of the Russian population with communism. Upon experiencing Russia, we were amazed to how polite, inviting, open and interesting the people are, willing to discuss the dark days along with the revitalization. The architecture was amazing, how they restored the old buildings with the “onion” towers, the communist style “no frills”, and the modern apartment construction. We found the cities easy to maneuver with Uber and the Metro and the cleanest cities we have ever experienced. This was our fourth trip with Gate One (Egypt, China, Greece), and as expected the guides were excellent (Katya and Cristina). We had fun with them, learned from them, and truly enjoyed their company. They made us feel welcome and comfortable. While as a matter of philosophy, my wife and I do not return to the same place more than once (it’s a large world and we want to see it ALL), we highly recommend others to enjoy the history, elegance, and hospitality of Russia.Francis Z. Schenectady, NY
We had a great trip. We saw so much in each city and it was well organized. Egis, the tour director was amazing!!! We will continue to book Gate 1 travel for upcoming trips.Ana P. San Diego, CA
Great trip! Russia was more than expected. Beautiful and clean (no litter or graffiti at all anywhere). People were warm and very friendly as well. We would recommend the trip to anyone who is interested in a wonderful trip and learning more about Russia. Also, our trip manager Elena was fabulous, maybe the best we have ever had on a Gate 1 trip.Robert O. Scottsdale, AZ
Our trip was outstanding and very memorable, everything we imagine and much more. We love everything including Galina, our tour guide (have to mention her because she did an exceptional job). This is our second trip with you and we are looking for a third one end of this year/beginning of next. Thanks again Gate 1!Alejandro T. Juncos, PR
The trip was amazing. Galina is fabulous. Fun and super knowable. So organized. The hotels were beautiful and beyond what we were expecting and the food was great.Sydney T. Toronto, Ontario
The trip was wonderful. Galina worked very hard to give us excellent tours on everything. I am very impressed with her - she is a very knowledgeable and hard working guide ... I call her my Russian mother. The tour was the best I have had.Carol S. Alexandria, VA
The trip was fantastic. We were with a great group of people and saw many wonderful sights such as the Hermitage museum, Red Square, and the incredible subway stations that had Statues, chandeliers, stain glass, and mosaics. The trip was made even more enjoyable by our guide Galina. She has an incredible knowledge of Russian history a good sense of humor, and took care of us like a den mother. All in all, a wonderful trip that I recommend to everyone. Gate 1 is the best!Robert I. New York, NY
It was wonderful. Our tour director/guide Galina did an excellent job. She is very helpful, cheerful, and friendly. She went out of her way to help group members. She also knows Russian history in depth. She is the best guide I have ever met. I give her 10 points out of a scale of 10. In general, the itinerary was just right, and good value for money ... This Gate1 tour is highly recommendable.Raymond L. Fort Lee, NJ
Our trip was amazing,Gate 1 organized the trip to perfection, our guide Galina was incredible, she was very knowledgeable, very considerate with everyone, she found a way to please us, this was one of the best trips with Gate 1 we ever had, thank you.Alejandro P. Miami, FL
Russia is one of the most beautiful countries we have visited. Definitely going back and will use Gate 1 again . The tour was very well organized, tour guides very knowledgeable. I love that we started from St. Petersburg and ended up in Moscow. It was getting better everyday and like a crescendo. All excursions were good. Will definitely recommend Gate 1 travel to friends.Sebastian C. Norton, VA
On May 25th, we flew on Aeroflot and embarked on the 13 Day Russian River Cruise on the MS Kronshtadt. It was a very well planned trip thanks to Gate 1 and our tour guide, Tanya! ... Our room was impeccably clean, the Russian crew went out of their way to please us, and the food was presented beautifully and actually delightful ... We began in Moscow and finished in St. Petersburg. St. Basil's, the Kremlin, palaces, and more churches were just some of the highlights throughout our journey ... This was truly a trip of a lifetime, and we enjoyed it all! We look forward to another Gate 1 adventure.Adeline R. Covington, LA
It was an amazing trip. It was made more informative and enjoyable, because of our tour director, Galina. She was awesome and really accommodating to all of us. I think that was the consensus by most, if not all of us. A+ for Gate1.Allan V. Piscataway, NJ.
We had a wonderful trip and the weather was nice & warm. The tour director, Tanya is a very experience and courteous lady. Everything was under her control professionally. This is our 1st time with Gate 1 and it'll be our agent from now on.Angela F. Ontario, CA
Our trip was wonderful. It was nice to be on a refurbished boat, very clean, nice bedding and towels ... There was always lots to eat and fresh salads. The dining room staff did not speak one word of English so it made communication very difficult. Tours were excellent and guides very knowledgeable and spoke English. We were both very impressed with Moscow. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone, great variation in locations that we were shown.Sharon S. British Colombia, CA
My trip was absolutely AMAZING. Our tour guide, Angelina, couldn’t have been more helpful, efficient and pleasant. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate her a 15!!Sharon S. New Milford, CT
It was fantastic. We had a wonderful Gate 1 tour manager, Victoria. We didn't have high expectations regarding the ship but it turned out good. Russia is a beautiful country and we were glad to have gone.Susan S. San Francisco, CA
We had a great trip. It was well organized and offered great options. Galena is fantastic, an excellent historian and a delight. I recommend it highly to my associates.Guy G. El Dorado Hills, CA
Everything about this trip was magical. Gate 1 has never disappointed and this 9 Day Classic Russia trip was no exception. Our Tour Guide Galina was one of the most professional, the most knowledgeable guide of any guided tour I have ever taken with ANY company. She is a real gem. She can tell you about every incident, every painting, what took place in every particular room of any palace or museum we visited. Just a pleasure to travel with Gate 1 once again. I look forward to my next trip...You have a loyal customer in me and I have sent friends your way too.Abby G. Pembroke Pines, FL
It was absolutely fabulous! Galina is an exceptionally educated and organized tour guide. I loved the hotels and there locations. The itinerary and optional tours permitted me to explore the many wonders of Moscow and St. Petersburg.Linda Gale D. Laguna Woods, CA
Fabulous! Best vacation I have had in years! So many wonderful places, people, food, and experiences. Thank you for the memories of a lifetime. My dream of visiting Russia was fulfilled; the trip exceeded my expectations.Barbara S. Humble, TX
Once again, Gate 1 provided an exceptional trip. Tanya, the tour guide, was fantastic, the local guides were knowledgeable, fun, spoke English excellently, kept thing moving on time, the crew was kind, professional and did a wonderful job keeping the ship clean and comfortable, and Russia and the Russian people, what can I say! My life is better for having visited there and met them. I am looking forward to my next Gate 1 adventure!Paula E. Edina, MN
Just wanted to say that the Russian River Cruise was fantastic and that the Gate 1 organisation exceeded expectations. Having done a "Pacific Ocean Cruise" my wife and I were hesitant about this adventure but we need not have been. The smaller group allowed passengers to get to know each other and the tour leader and guides could really focus on our needs and information about locations visited. Cabins were comfortable (if a bit small) and the ever changing view from the cabin window added to the experience. Russia was spectacular, exciting and full of history. This particular cruise provided such a great insight into the country and allowed us to visit small but historic locations ( Uglich, Kirillov ) as well as St Petersburg and Moscow. Would absolutely recommend this tour and Gate 1 as a tour company.Brett M. VIC, Australia
We have come home in good shape. My wife and I enjoyed the Russian River Cruise very much. Russia and Russian people are simply beautiful. The tour manager Elena is fantastic. She is very helpful and looks after everything in great details. The two onboard guides and the ship's staff are friendly and courteous too. Thank you Gate 1 and we will come again.Michael W. Victoria, Australia
Karen and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Russia. Your tour guide, Asya, is a wonderful ambassador for both Gate 1 and Russia. This was our fifth Gate 1 trip and, as always, Gate 1 came through for us providing a wonderful vacation.Edward P. Folsom, CA
Absolutely amazing. The reason was our guide (Ms Galina) at Moscow and Saint Petersburg.Kaushik J. Valrico, FL
OMG it was incredible! Tanya made the trip. She was everything and more. Lena was a quiet wonder. She made sure we were all accounted for a million times. There was not one local guide that was a slacker. They were all top notch and made sure we saw only the best at each place with as few crowds as possible. Best of all, each and every person told their personal stories along with the local lore. This was the first overseas trip my husband has made since the 1970's and I think we've created a traveling monster......where are we going next? Everyone felt so taken care of and we now love Russia. Who would have thought! Just FYI there was a single woman there who was making her 13th Gate 1 tour. That spoke volumes of your company. Thanks for asking!Kathleen C. Houston, TX
We really enjoyed our trip to Russia!! We learned a lot, and every day was filled with new things. Gate 1 trips never disappoint!!Judith E. San Diego, CA
Great trip. Wonderfully arranged. Good boat and great crew. Will take another with Gate 1 soon.Robert S. Virginia Bch, VA
We had a fantastic, relaxing and a memorable trip to Russia. Tour manager Asya and our coordinator Lina, were excellent and friendly. Thanks to both of them. They were always smiling and very helpful. They made our trip sail smooth.Lalitha R. Laguna Niguel, CA
All I can say is that this was our second Gate 1 trip and there will definitely be a third. Once again, your company has exceeded my expectations!! Galina was unbelievable!! Nothing short of perfection. Thank you for a fabulous Russian family vacation.Carla P. Jupiter, FL
Super! And I will be traveling with Gate 1 again! Galina made the trip to Russia very special!David C. Gainesville, FL
My trip to Russia was everything I had hoped it would be. The sites and tours were wonderful, the hotels first class and the arrangements were perfect. We had and excellent tour manger and thoroughly explored both Moscow and Saint Petersburg. I lam looking forward to my next (6th) Gate 1 adventure!Kevin S. Phoenix, AZ
It was wonderful! We were very fortunate to have Galina taking care of us. She lead us into the Armoury, the Hermitage, the Peterhof ahead of other tour groups so we could take advantage of a much less crowded room. She taught us the history of Russia. Everyone responded to her question: "What did tsar Alexander II do?" "He sold Alaska to the U. S." The restaurants she took us all offered delicious food. She also told us where to get an easy and cheap bite when we were on our own. The exploration of the Metro stations in Moscow was another plus. Most importantly, she made a large group like us traveling by high speed train from Moscow to St. Petersburg in a very orderly manner. This takes organization skills and years of experience. We would definitely continue booking other trips with Gate 1. And highly recommend this trip to anyone who is interested in going to Russia.Chu Ying N. Los Altos, CA
Fabulous trip. I want to say that our tour guide, Tanya, was absolutely the finest tour guide I have ever encountered. She was so knowledgeable and personable and took such good care of everyone. She deserves a raise and a promotion!!! I will surely recommend the Russian tour to my friends. Thank you for all the help!!Judith H. Houston, TX
The Russian River Cruise trip has absolutely highlighted the essence of Russia, introducing me to the country's history, beauty, and culture. The itinerary offered a great perspective in comparing and contrasting the uniqueness of Russia's major cities with the small villages/towns. The excursions, optional tours (especially the two folk dance shows: Bagatitsa in St. Petersburg and Kostroma in Moscow), and the special ship's activities (learning the country’s language, songs, and dance) have certainly been instrumental in authenticating the richness of the Russian culture. Furthermore, the local guides did a great job in giving tourists a detailed insight of their city/village--past and present. As for the MS Zosima Shashkov, the room was clean, the staff was friendly and accommodating, the food was fine, and the musicians were enjoyable, even though I felt that a variety of entertainment was needed. Hiring young on-board guides to assist the tour managers was a wonderful idea because these young personnel were personable, full of fun and energy, and established a positive rapport with the passengers. Overall, this trip was extremely educational and enjoyable. Thank you!Rose G. Duarte, CA
Superb! The tour director Ms. Galina is very professional! The hotels were clean & the breakfast were enormous!!! I'd recommend this tour to my family & friends!Irawaty B. Springfield, VA
I had no idea that when we booked with Gate 1, that we would be treated so royally. Our Russian River Cruise was a surprise from the beginning. It was a LONG taxi ride from the centre of St Petersburg to get to the ship, and I was SO happy when I saw that it was there. At this time, I did not know about the high standard of Gate 1 tours. When we boarded, we had information in our cabins about meeting with the Gate 1 travel agent. WOW! Our own travel agent??? And what a fine person she is. Tanya ‘made’ our trip. The Gate 1 group really bonded. Not that we didn’t interact with the French, the Italians, and the Hungarians, but by eating together, bussing together, and touring together, we became a cohesive group. My previous experience in cruising was on a BIG ship with people from everywhere. It was like living in a small city. We would meet people in passing, but there was no coordination. No personal touch. The other positive aspect of this experience was in hearing people talk about their previous Gate 1 tours. Everyone spoke so highly of the company. When flying home, I happened to be sitting beside a woman who had just come off the Budapest cruise, and she, too, spoke highly of her experience. It was her second tour with you. I have not been too big on organized tours. My sister and I like to rent a car and explore. However, we thoroughly enjoyed the river cruise. We saw places that we could not have reached by car. The local guides were really informative, too. Over all, 10+. I am SO glad that we happened to find your advertisement online. Would I recommend Gate 1? Most definitely! Would I book again with Gate 1? I think so. We had three weeks of ‘exploring’ the Balkans before joining the Russian River Cruise. It made a really good balance.Myrna C. British Columbia, Canada
What a fabulous trip to Russia! It exceeded all our expectations!. Galina, the guide, is a wealth of knowledge and fun! The hotels were centrally located and the group was great! Many thanks for all your help in making this trip happen.George W. Rye Brook, NY
The trip was excellent. My husband and I had a wonderful time. Everything went as scheduled. Our tour guide, Galina, did an amazing job. She is very knowledgeable and dedicated to her group. We were all amazed at her energy and thoroughness. She even got up at 3:00AM on our departure morning to ensure that my husband and I had a box lunch and that we left on time for the airport. Galina was great. Russia, Moscow and St. Petersburg, were very, very interesting. Unique and beautiful in their own way.Lydia T. Brick, NJ
The trip to Moscow and St. Petersburg was so much fun, and we learned so much about Russia. We used our time there well, and were able to see so many important sites. Our guide, Galina, was exceptional. She knew exactly what time to be where, how much time to allow at each place, and prepared us with background of what we were going to see. Our accommodations were luxurious, the best I've had in any European location. I highly recommend this trip.Dianna H. Kenosha, WI
My trip to Russia was wonderful. I loved the Russian ship we cruised, it's staff, the places we visited, I loved the history of Russian and its people, so much natural city beauty. The Russian people suffered much and yet we were welcomed so well. Thank you for the work that Gate 1 Travel does to help us travelers explore interesting places. Ah, and the food was great.Bienvenida F. Newport Beach, CA
Russia was a wonderful surprise. Gate 1, not so much of a surprise. since you guys are always great !!! Super hotels with great locations. Galina, our tour guide was very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and nice. She even sang for us on the bus and treated us with what she called "surprises". (ice cream, donuts...) I didn't know what to expect from this trip, other than being interesting. It was a lot more than that. Incredibly beautiful sights, so much history and art, plus the experience of the Liberation celebration. (also, perfect weather!). Our group was small, which I though was so much better that a full bus. Another plus for me, was the fact that we stayed more than just one night in a hotel, without having to pack and unpack every day. I would love to fine another tour in the future that spends several days in just a couple of cities. I came home tired, sore, with a cold and very happy.Ana W. Oxon Hill, MD
Wonderful.... Best guide that I every had. We lucked out with weather.Carol R. Celina, TX
Alethea, it was fantastic. The boat crew kept the boat in top notch condition, the Russian people were great, the sites and agenda were just the right amount and we can't say enough about Tanya as the tour director. You better hang on to that one. Thanks for a trip of a lifetime.Terry T. Phoenix, AZ
We just returned from the 9 day tour of Russia which included Moscow to St Petersburg via bullet train.
Our local tour guide in Moscow, Irina, was excellent. From the time she met us at the airport until she released us at the train to St Petersburg, her performance was outstanding. She was so professional and knowledgeable and so very personable as we all explored Moscow. We specifically wanted to visit the Diamond Fund at the Kremlin during our leisure time...she provided every detail to insure a very enjoyable visit.
We cannot say enough about our tour director Galina. Her extensive Russia knowledge base, her expertise in presenting Russia history, Russia art, Russia leaders, Russia tourist sites, Russia A-Z made this our "million dollar" tour of Russia. She is a tremendous asset to Gate 1. We would love to visit Russia again! with Galina!!Donna S. Gaffney, SC
