8 day unescorted London, England, was just fantastic. London is city that so easy to move around in and plenty of things to keep us busy. I will definitely be looking for more unescorted trips.Penny S. Falls Church, VA
We had a wonderful time! Our director, Ann, was fantastic. She has a head full of informative and fun information about every where we stopped as well as entertaining facts as we were in the bus. Her service was top notch! Our hotels were all very nice and more upscale than I imagined. We will be booking again with Gate 1.Linda W. Columbus, OH
Very good. Saw many beautiful sites and met a lot of nice people. Very pleased with Gate 1 and would consider them again for future trips.Timothy F. San Rafael, CA
Our trip was wonderful! Lorna, our tour guide, was FANTASTIC; she is knowledgeable and clearly shared with us her love of Scotland and it's history. This was our 5th Gate 1 trip and we look forward to many more.Michele D. Minneapolis, MN
I enjoyed the trip very much. The scenery was beautiful and the historical buildings were very interesting. And, Michael was an excellent guide. He's articulate, knowledgeable, and very helpful.Christopher M. Bryn Mawr, PA
Like all Gate 1 trips, the 10 day Classic Tour of Scotland was wonderful. We saw so much of the country and had free time to interact with the Scottish people in restaurants, pubs, on public buses, etc. We enjoyed the rich history and historic places like Culloden that really opens one's eyes and heart. The scenery was breathtaking. Our tour guide Michael offered us so much information and provided us with Scottish treats and beautiful ballads on the bus trips. He was calm, caring and made us laugh. Kenny our bus driver was also kind and a great driver on those narrow roads. I would recommend this trip to anyone.Diana C. Bristol, VA
The England/Scotland trip was amazing! My entire family had an absolutely incredible time on the trip! And we all appreciated how well the entire tour was managed, from airport transfers to comfortable hotels located within walking distance of city highlights and great tour guides who provided excellent recommendations on things to do and eat. There was also a good balance of leisure time in London and Edinburgh to explore on our own, during which time we went to afternoon tea, spent some more time at Buckingham Palace, and checked out the Sherlock Holmes museum. Thank you so much for your help coordinating our family trip from different cities - it was a really special adventure together thanks to Gate 1!Jennifer Y. Boston, MA
The trip was fantastic. This is the first time we've used Gate 1, but it won't be the last. Our guide, Patrick was amazing. He made it seem like he wasn't even working, yet managed to keep everything running very smoothly. He did it all with professionalism and courtesy. Our driver, Brian was not only a great driver, but a hard worker who managed our luggage with ease. The seat assignments on the bus worked out very well. I thought I wasn't going to like it, but it was actually very efficient.Margaret A. West Islip, NY
We had a magnificent trip. The weather was great - no rain for two weeks in England and Scotland. We had two fabulous guides, Ann in England and Phil in Scotland. Both were super people who went out of their way to make our trip a success. They filled our days with knowledge and humorous stories that we will carry with us. Our drivers were also great. This was our third trip with Gate 1 and we are looking forward to our next one.Melissa D. Murfreesboro, TN
The trip was fantastic. It was the best ever. The hotel and staff were wonderful. Our tour director Christine was great would recommend her to anyone who is interested in this trip. Everything went off without a hitch. Tour guides were the best. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our time in England. Thank you for all that you did to make our time a wonderful experience.Martha G. Haymarket, VA
It was excellent - fascinating tours, comfortable hotels and a good choice of itineraries. We were very satisfied.Ruth H. Middletown, CT
It was a wonderful trip, thanks! We had a decent hotel in a good area that was close to the tube, and we explored the city in so many ways! The day trip to Windsor was beautiful, and the tour guide, Kevin, was FABULOUS! London is a wonderful place, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring it. With Gate 1 doing all the "heavy work" of hotels and tickets, it was even more enjoyable. THANK YOU! Looking forward to traveling again with you!Lucinda W. Indiana, PA
All went well. Hotel was fine and the transportation to and from the airport was very good. I would also like to comment on a trip we took with you in January to India. That was absolutely fantastic. The tour director, Sandeep, did an amazing job. We shall definitely use Gate 1 againValerie F. Orland, ME

The trip was more than amazing. My family and I had soooo much fun it is hard to put into words. We truly enjoyed everything the Gate 1 package included. The Airport to Hotel transfers were the best and made it easy for us to travel. We signed up for a tour while in London to Windsor, Stonehenge, and Bath that truly made it memorable. Paris was all that we expected and more. My parents celebrated their wedding anniversary at the Eiffel Tower :) Thank you for your support in setting up this wonderful trip. We had a wonderful time. The trip was well planned and the hotels were very good. Ann was first rate -she was extremely organized, funny, and very attentive. And she knew her history. Les is a skillful driver and delivered us to our destinations without mishap.Michael H. Saint Louis, MO
Our trip was AWESOME!!! Our tour guide Lauren was the best, full of interesting information all day long on the bus. There wasn't a single glitch, from flights to transfers to hotels. It helped that our fellow travelers were a congenial group too. The hotels were fine, lack of wi-fi in some rooms was a pain, but they all had wi-fi in the public areas. I think the tour and optional tours hit all the places we wanted to see. We wouldn't change a thing about the trip...thanks for a memorable vacation!!! We will definitely be on another Gate 1 trip...Allyn C. Manlius, NY
It was awesome. We had a great group and an EXCELLENT tour guide in Lorna. She was the best. Very knowledgeable and professional. As a native to the area she gave us valuable information that helped us get the most of our time in Scotland. The bus was comfortable and Willy our driver was the best. The hotels were clean and comfortable. We had a great tripLarry D. Oakland, CA
Wonderful. We went with you guys after a good experience in Italy last year and we we were not let down. Accommodations were again good. And the guide knew the areas and was personable and interesting. I also thank you for letting me call you personally to help us with flights and arranging an extra day!Larry B. Indianapolis, IN
Another really great trip from Gate 1! This was the third time we have used Gate 1 for travel and we are super pleased with the value/organization/people involved-coordinators, drivers, tour guides. Thanks so much!Scott P. Goleta, CA
Our trip was incredible! Evelyn, our tour manager in Ireland and Michael, our tour guide in Great Britain and Scotland did an excellent job. They both made sure we were comfortable, safe, and informed of all of the rich history of the cities we visited. The two of them are very knowledgable and shared all the information in a friendly and charming way. The accommodations and the pace of the trip were excellent. Our driver Les in Great Britain and Scotland made our trip safe and relaxed. He was always very helpful and had a great sense of humor. This is our 4th Gate 1 trip and each trip keeps getting better because of the dedicated people that work for your company.Estella R. Helotes, TX
Scotland and Ireland were amazing. I tried Haggis as promised and it wasn't bad, although I didn't take seconds when Terri offered. Your advice about the add ons/excursions and currency was helpful. Thanks for answering all of my questions. The tour was top notch and I will travel with Gate 1 again.Jacqueline P. Boise, ID
The trip was fantastic! I want to tell you that Gate 1 is extremely well run - very well organized, and with excellent staff. Our Tour Guide, Paul, was outstanding - kind, informative, funny and all round a terrific person. Our coach driver was also outstanding - a great chauffeur (getting us out of a couple of traffic blockages very skillfully) and he also was very kind - nice guy! The tours were great and we had enough flexibility to adjust our own pacing. In short - A-OK! And even our flights went well and the connections to and from Heathrow were fine. Not a single "hitch!"Eve V. Foster City, CA
What a wonder trip...the best one that I have done with Gate 1...( and i done a few ) My guide Michael Wheeler...made the trip...I cannot say enough...Cute...smart..witty..a real joy to travel with..we only had 23 travelers and Michael along with Willy the bus driver...nice guy wore Kilts one night.. it rained almost every day...but Michael took very good care of us..his knowledge of Scotland's history and the way he presented it was unbelievable..I could now pass any college course on early Scottish History...LOL Any future trips I do to Great Britain will only be with Michael as my guide...so if let me know. I gave your name out to some first time gate 1 travelers ....told them your the one I use. We took a group picture at our departing dinner I will attempt to attach it.Saralyn B. Chilcoot, CA
Simply the best! We were told that this the first time for this combination tour with a different selection of sights. It was led by Eric with a few other local guides. The tour was flawless in every respect. We would highly recommend to our friends.Ronald D. Georgetown, TX
Trip was great! London was crowded then I expected, more then New York. The country side was beautiful and Edinburg was pretty and intimate. The tour guide Ann was meticulous for every single detail and very professional. My wife and I enjoyed every minute of it. This was our 2nd trip with Gate 1. We went to Central Europe last year. It was a great experience too. Thank you for doing a good job. Please, keep doing it. Thanks.Hee K. Chicago, IL
It was a great trip in that we were able to see everything promised on the itinerary. There was a visit to a farm in the Lake area, where we were served scones and clotted cream, which was a real treat. Downside was the weather. Pretty much rainy, windy, and cool, the entire trip. Not much anyone can do about that, weather is always an uncontrollable variable. Perhaps the most fortunate aspect of the trip was having Michael Wheeler as our tour guide (along with his faithful companion and bus driver, Les!) Michael has an incredible amount of area knowledge, which he shares in an interesting and understandable way. He has a great sense of humor, and some of his stories and comments were laugh out loud funny. Actually, one of the most entertaining part of the trip were when they had to decide on a quick detour to avoid a long wait at an accident, south of York. The rapport between Michael and Les, was great fun! This type of tour can be challenging to the traveler, in that you have to get packed and moving early each morning, and often the bus arrives at the hotel late in the afternoon, between 5-5:30 PM. Makes for a long day. Michael was at the bus early every morning, and had everything well prepared, including a daily seating chart. He made sure hotel keys/rooms, were ready as soon as we got off the bus each day. He stayed around the hotel lobby each day, for at least an hour after arrival, in case of any problems for anyone. He is really a hard worker, and the nicest guy you could ever find. A real credit to Gate 1.William Z. Bloomington, IL
he trip was great and the places we visited were amazing! I sincerely appreciate our Tour Guide, Ann and our Coach driver, Les. Take care and God bless you!Carmelita C. Houston, TX
Thank you. Our trip was great. Loved all the cities we visited. I was very pleased with all the hotel accommodations choices that was made. Every hotel exceeded my expectations. Location was also a big factor and helped getting around easier. I cannot say enough positive things about how everything ran so smoothly and I didn't have to worry about anything at all. Thank you very much and I will definitely continue to book future vacations through you. Looking forward to other trips together.Karen M. Langhorne, PA
My trip to England and Scotland was fabulous. Michael, our tour director was excellent and his bus driver, Les, was charming and kind. We were very blessed with good weather; not one day of rain. Thank you, Gate 1, for a great experience.Peggy N. Heber City, UT
My trip was great! An excellent bargain; I had not been able to find airfare for what this whole trip cost me. I'd never flown Virgin before, and they were impressive. Seats in economy were more comfortable than other airlines, the crew were friendly and helpful, the food delicious and plentiful. The room at the Hilton was basic, but clean and comfortable and had free WiFi. It's close to two tube stations, so getting around is easy. The included breakfast was a buffet with lots to choose from, all of it tasty, and served until 11:00 every day, in case we were a little slow getting out of bed. What would I like to be different? Not to be flying the redeye out of Newark and a hotel more in the city center, but I recognize these things are what allow you to present me with such a fine bargain. We will definitely be traveling with you again. Please keep up the good work!Gabrielle H. Glen Ellyn, IL
Thank you for the welcome home message and inquiry about our trip. The short answer: it was AMAZING! Everything Gate 1 promised was exactly as expected or even better! The hotel breakfasts were truly outstanding! This was our first independent trip and you made it really easy with all the information provided in our packet and the staff who answered all our questions when I called Gate 1 prior to traveling. Many thanks for a great experience.Paulette S. Beverly Hills, MI
It was absolutely amazing!!! This was our first trip through Gate 1 and it won't be our last! I was so pleased with everything! It was smooth sailing the entire trip! The hotels were excellent, the transfers were coordinated to the T and the tours in each city were great! I have nothing to complain about because everything was literally perfect!!! I love Europe!!! Thank you for the email!Janaia R. Kansas City, KS
The Trip was fantastic. We Loved Ann and please tell her how much we appreciated her extra efforts. When we visited a place she would give us for example chocolate from Cadberry. or the mint sugar candies from York. When we wanted to find the wall in York, Ann was worried about us getting lost so she walked us over there. All in all a wonderful and very efficient person. She gave us so much history about England as well. We love being able to travel with your company and plan to go next year to Italy. We met new friends and that made the trip very fun as well.Dwight H. Idaho Falls, ID
Our trip to London was great! The weather was perfect and our hotel location was ideal. We were a short walk from the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum, and we enjoyed spending time in each of those excellent museums. We also had easy access to the numerous other attractions in London using the nearby underground station. The Gate 1 Travel package for our independent travel vacation was very good for us, as usual.Jeffrey L. Ann Arbor, MI
It was absolutely spectacular! It was far more than I expected. The guide, Lorna, was fantastic, which is critical to a trip's success. The people on the trip were also great, all of a caliber that helped make the trip pleasant. And, of course, one can't go wrong in Scotland. Gate 1 Travel provided a first class trip and I could understand why so many people on the trip had traveled with Gate 1 Travel multiple times.
I can definitely see myself taking more Gate 1 Travel trips in the future.Janet G. San Diego, CA
Was another great trip - number 15 for me now with Gate 1! I am British born but there are lots of places in Great Britain that I haven't seen, so appreciated the opportunity to visit Stonehenge, the Cotswolds and the Lake District for the first time and to revisit Bath and Liverpool while in England. Then to Edinburgh to start the Classic Scotland tour, which for me was inspired by my love for the Starz series "Outlander", as it seemed to be for several other of my fellow travelers! Was a very nicely paced tour, and in Scotland especially beautiful scenery and lots of castles, which for me is fantastic. You cover so much ground and the itineraries are very well planned. Excellent optional excursions, my favorite being The Royal Yacht Britannia and Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh. Good quality hotels throughout, the best rooms being at the Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel, but the best breakfasts being at the Thistle Kensington Gardens in London and The Inverness Hotel on the Scottish part of the tour. The Alexandra Hotel in Fort William was old fashioned and a throwback to another time, but don't think there is too much choice in this outpost - the included dinner there was extremely good though and the location and scenery wonderful! We had two different tour managers and drivers with a hand-over on arrival in Edinburgh - Ann with Les driving in England and Lorna with David driving in Scotland. All were truly excellent. Also in England we had a stand in tour manager one day, Michael, and he was great too. This English born lady learned a lot about her home country, so you can't ask for more than that! Thank you as always for an exceptional vacation!Lorraine P. Stamford, CT
It was the best ever! Loved the itinerary and especially enjoyed the tour manager, Michael. We'd take another tour with him in a heartbeat...very attentive to detail and entertaining. The only drawback was the early morning arrival time in London without prospect of a room until 7 hours later. Wouldn't do that again. Now, that being said, we appreciated your coordinating our trip with my sister. Worked out great in that respect. Also, all three of us want to go to Ireland next...maybe in the Fall. I'm sure you can help us out with that. I'll be in touch.Eileen S. Kissimmee, FL
It was excellent. One of the most memorable trip I had taken.
The tour leader, Michael was humorous, knowledgeable and attend to all the details to make this trip wonderful. I was impressed with the hotels and food. Great Britain is simply beautiful. Will definitely be coming back to Gate 1 for other trips. Thanks for everythingSeok L. Murfreesboro, TN
We had a wonderful time on our trip. The hotel was lovely, accommodated the three of us, and was located in a beautiful, safe neighborhood. We used our theatre vouchers one evening to see the play Wicked. Our trip to Stonehenge and Bath was very enjoyable. I can't say enough about Evan Evans tours....the bus was comfortable, had wifi available, and our tour guide Cozette and bus driver Craig made the trip interesting & fun. We took a lovely boat ride on the Thames as part of our hop on hop off ticket.
As always, I will continue to praise Gate 1 for being a top notch touring company. Our flights into London and departing from France went very smoothly. Thank you for arranging our departing flight from another city. We are looking forward to our next trip with you to Cuba, Discovery Tours by Gate 1.Mary M. Hudson, FL
My Scotland trip was great. In spite of the snow and rain which occurred two days, the trip was wonderful.
Edinburgh was a fabulous city, easy to maneuver around whether walking or taking the bus.
I took the bus from the airport, then I walked a few blocks to the hotel. The hotel was situated in a super location...I was able to walk from it to the city centre 10 easy blocks away.
I really like the fact that Gate 1 allows a lot of free time.
I took a bus to the waterfront one day (the Firth of Forth), rode a boat to an old abbey, and had a nice time.
Our excursions to the various castles were quite enjoyable, and although we didn't get to see Nessie, Loch Ness is a beautiful place. Our boat trip on Loch Lomond was informative and special.
The dinner and Scottish performance was not to be missed...a sing-a-long and awesome food made for an unforgettable evening. Again, the meals were unbelievably good. Every hotel's breakfast was enormous and delicious. Our three dinners were outstanding...I gained 3 pounds eating all of the great food in Scotland!
In Inverness, the hotel had an Olympic size pool, sauna, etc. It offered us a relaxing respite from our days of sightseeing. The Highlands were a shock. None of us realized how impressive and huge they were. I felt as though I was still in Canada viewing the Rockies.
The people in Scotland are friendly, warm, and very helpful. I sought directions from every passerby, and everyone was more than willing to assist me.
I visited the National Gallery of Art in Edinburgh. It was free and I enjoyed it immensely. We saw so much and did so many things that it is hard to say what I liked the best, but certainly my fellow travelers were awesome. Again Gate 1 has a lock on attracting wonderful people to their tours. We had great moments together. Exchanging emails is proof that we plan to remain in touch.
I have just two regrets: 1) this trip should include two more days so that the travelers have 2 days in Glasgow. It was an exciting city, but we had only a few hours in it. Extend this trip to two days/nights in Glasgow.
2) there should be a boat ride on Loch Ness. The boat ride on Loch Lomond was fine. But we all wanted to say that we rode a boat in Nessie's environs.
I highly recommend this trip. Our guide Lorna was pleasant and sweet; the bus driver Tom stayed in character throughout the trip, constantly wearing his kilts.Jude L. McHenry, IL
I had a wonderful trip to London and Highclere Castle. Even caught a glimpse of the Earl of Carnarvon. This was my first trip with Gate 1 and I was pleased with the service, attention and tours. Our contact person in London was so helpful in directing us to find places nearby to have dinner.Maxine M. Mullica Hill, NJ
It was wonderful! The only complaint was that it was too short. Carol, the coordinator saw to all our needs and Victoria, the London tour guide, was fabulous. Her wry wit kept us laughing! Thanks so much for all of your efforts in booking our group and answering our many questions!Bonnie K. Turnersville, NJ
It was amazing. As usual the Tour Manager was exceptional in making sure everyone's needs were met. Just another outstanding trip from Gate 1. We look forward to another trip with you.Carolyn S. Columbus, NJ
