We had a wonderful time! Our director, Ann, was fantastic. She has a head full of informative and fun information about every where we stopped as well as entertaining facts as we were in the bus. Her service was top notch! Our hotels were all very nice and more upscale than I imagined. We will be booking again with Gate 1.

Like all Gate 1 trips, the 10 day Classic Tour of Scotland was wonderful. We saw so much of the country and had free time to interact with the Scottish people in restaurants, pubs, on public buses, etc. We enjoyed the rich history and historic places like Culloden that really opens one's eyes and heart. The scenery was breathtaking. Our tour guide Michael offered us so much information and provided us with Scottish treats and beautiful ballads on the bus trips. He was calm, caring and made us laugh. Kenny our bus driver was also kind and a great driver on those narrow roads. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

The England/Scotland trip was amazing! My entire family had an absolutely incredible time on the trip! And we all appreciated how well the entire tour was managed, from airport transfers to comfortable hotels located within walking distance of city highlights and great tour guides who provided excellent recommendations on things to do and eat. There was also a good balance of leisure time in London and Edinburgh to explore on our own, during which time we went to afternoon tea, spent some more time at Buckingham Palace, and checked out the Sherlock Holmes museum. Thank you so much for your help coordinating our family trip from different cities - it was a really special adventure together thanks to Gate 1!

The trip was fantastic. This is the first time we've used Gate 1, but it won't be the last. Our guide, Patrick was amazing. He made it seem like he wasn't even working, yet managed to keep everything running very smoothly. He did it all with professionalism and courtesy. Our driver, Brian was not only a great driver, but a hard worker who managed our luggage with ease. The seat assignments on the bus worked out very well. I thought I wasn't going to like it, but it was actually very efficient.

We had a magnificent trip. The weather was great - no rain for two weeks in England and Scotland. We had two fabulous guides, Ann in England and Phil in Scotland. Our trip was AWESOME!!! Our tour guide Lauren was the best, full of interesting information all day long on the bus. There wasn't a single glitch, from flights to transfers to hotels. It helped that our fellow travelers were a congenial group too. The hotels were fine, lack of wi-fi in some rooms was a pain, but they all had wi-fi in the public areas. The trip was fantastic! I want to tell you that Gate 1 is extremely well run - very well organized, and with excellent staff. Our Tour Guide, Paul, was outstanding - kind, informative, funny and all round a terrific person. Our coach driver was also outstanding - a great chauffeur (getting us out of a couple of traffic blockages very skillfully) and he also was very kind - nice guy! The tours were great and we had enough flexibility to adjust our own pacing. In short - A-OK! And even our flights went well and the connections to and from Heathrow were fine. Not a single "hitch!"

What a wonder trip...the best one that I have done with Gate 1...( and i done a few ) My guide Michael Wheeler...made the trip...I cannot say enough...Cute...smart..witty..a real joy to travel with..we only had 23 travelers and Michael along with Willy the bus driver...nice guy wore Kilts one night.. it rained almost every day...but Michael took very good care of us..his knowledge of Scotland's history and the way he presented it was unbelievable..I could now pass any college course on early Scottish History...LOL Any future trips I do to Great Britain will only be with Michael as my guide...so if let me know. I gave your name out to some first time gate 1 travelers ....told them your the one I use. We took a group picture at our departing dinner I will attempt to attach it.

It was a great trip in that we were able to see everything promised on the itinerary. There was a visit to a farm in the Lake area, where we were served scones and clotted cream, which was a real treat. Downside was the weather. Pretty much rainy, windy, and cool, the entire trip. Not much anyone can do about that, weather is always an uncontrollable variable. Perhaps the most fortunate aspect of the trip was having Michael Wheeler as our tour guide (along with his faithful companion and bus driver, Les!) Michael has an incredible amount of area knowledge, which he shares in an interesting and understandable way. He has a great sense of humor, and some of his stories and comments were laugh out loud funny. Actually, one of the most entertaining part of the trip were when they had to decide on a quick detour to avoid a long wait at an accident, south of York. The rapport between Michael and Les, was great fun! This type of tour can be challenging to the traveler, in that you have to get packed and moving early each morning, and often the bus arrives at the hotel late in the afternoon, between 5-5:30 PM. Makes for a long day. Michael was at the bus early every morning, and had everything well prepared, including a daily seating chart. He made sure hotel keys/rooms, were ready as soon as we got off the bus each day. He stayed around the hotel lobby each day, for at least an hour after arrival, in case of any problems for anyone. He is really a hard worker, and the nicest guy you could ever find. A real credit to Gate 1.

My trip was great! An excellent bargain; I had not been able to find airfare for what this whole trip cost me. I'd never flown Virgin before, and they were impressive. Seats in economy were more comfortable than other airlines, the crew were friendly and helpful, the food delicious and plentiful. The room at the Hilton was basic, but clean and comfortable and had free WiFi. It's close to two tube stations, so getting around is easy. The included breakfast was a buffet with lots to choose from, all of it tasty, and served until 11:00 every day, in case we were a little slow getting out of bed. What would I like to be different? Not to be flying the redeye out of Newark and a hotel more in the city center, but I recognize these things are what allow you to present me with such a fine bargain. We will definitely be traveling with you again. Please keep up the good work!

The Trip was fantastic. We Loved Ann and please tell her how much we appreciated her extra efforts. When we visited a place she would give us for example chocolate from Cadberry. or the mint sugar candies from York. When we wanted to find the wall in York, Ann was worried about us getting lost so she walked us over there. All in all a wonderful and very efficient person. She gave us so much history about England as well. We love being able to travel with your company and plan to go next year to Italy. We met new friends and that made the trip very fun as well.

Our trip to London was great! The weather was perfect and our hotel location was ideal. We were a short walk from the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum, and we enjoyed spending time in each of those excellent museums. It was absolutely spectacular!  It was far more than I expected.  The guide, Lorna, was fantastic, which is critical to a trip's success.  The people on the trip were also great, all of a caliber that helped make the trip pleasant.  And, of course, one can't go wrong in Scotland.  Gate 1 Travel provided a first class trip and I could understand why so many people on the trip had traveled with Gate 1 Travel multiple times.

Was another great trip - number 15 for me now with Gate 1!  I am British born but there are lots of places in Great Britain that I haven't seen, so appreciated the opportunity to visit Stonehenge, the Cotswolds and the Lake District for the first time and to revisit Bath and Liverpool while in England.  Then to Edinburgh to start the Classic Scotland tour, which for me was inspired by my love for the Starz series "Outlander", as it seemed to be for several other of my fellow travelers!  Was a very nicely paced tour, and in Scotland especially beautiful scenery and lots of castles, which for me is fantastic. You cover so much ground and the itineraries are very well planned.  Excellent optional excursions, my favorite being The Royal Yacht Britannia and Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.  Good quality hotels throughout, the best rooms being at the Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel, but the best breakfasts being at the Thistle Kensington Gardens in London and The Inverness Hotel on the Scottish part of the tour.  The Alexandra Hotel in Fort William was old fashioned and a throwback to another time, but don't think there is too much choice in this outpost - the included dinner there was extremely good though and the location and scenery wonderful!  We had two different tour managers and drivers with a hand-over on arrival in Edinburgh - Ann with Les driving in England and Lorna with David driving in Scotland. All were truly excellent. Also in England we had a stand in tour manager one day, Michael, and he was great too. This English born lady learned a lot about her home country, so you can't ask for more than that!  Thank you as always for an exceptional vacation!

It was the best ever!  Loved the itinerary and especially enjoyed the tour manager, Michael.  We'd take another tour with him in a heartbeat...very attentive to detail and entertaining.  The only drawback was the early morning arrival time in London without prospect of a room until 7 hours later.  Wouldn't do that again.  Now, that being said, we appreciated your coordinating our trip with my sister.  Worked out great in that respect.  Also, all three of us want to go to Ireland next...maybe in the Fall.  I'm sure you can help us out with that.  I'll be in touch.

We had a wonderful time on our trip.  The hotel was lovely, accommodated the three of us, and was located in a beautiful, safe neighborhood.  We used our theatre vouchers one evening to see the play Wicked.  Our trip to Stonehenge and Bath was very enjoyable.  I can't say enough about Evan Evans tours....the bus was comfortable, had wifi available, and our tour guide Cozette and bus driver Craig made the trip interesting & fun. We took a lovely boat ride on the Thames as part of our hop on hop off ticket.

As always, I will continue to praise Gate 1 for being a top notch touring company. Our flights into London and departing from France went very smoothly.  Thank you for arranging our departing flight from another city. My Scotland trip was great. In spite of the snow and rain which occurred two days, the trip was wonderful.

Edinburgh was a fabulous city, easy to maneuver around whether walking or taking the bus.

I took the bus from the airport, then I walked a few blocks to the hotel. The hotel was situated in a super location...I was able to walk from it to the city centre 10 easy blocks away.

I really like the fact that Gate 1 allows a lot of free time.

I took a bus to the waterfront one day (the Firth of Forth), rode a boat to an old abbey, and had a nice time.

Our excursions to the various castles were quite enjoyable, and although we didn't get to see Nessie, Loch Ness is a beautiful place. Our boat trip on Loch Lomond was informative and special.

The dinner and Scottish performance was not to be missed...a sing-a-long and awesome food made for an unforgettable evening. Again, the meals were unbelievably good. Every hotel's breakfast was enormous and delicious. Our three dinners were outstanding...I gained 3 pounds eating all of the great food in Scotland!

In Inverness, the hotel had an Olympic size pool, sauna, etc. It offered us a relaxing respite from our days of sightseeing. The Highlands were a shock. None of us realized how impressive and huge they were. I felt as though I was still in Canada viewing the Rockies.

The people in Scotland are friendly, warm, and very helpful. I sought directions from every passerby, and everyone was more than willing to assist me.

I visited the National Gallery of Art in Edinburgh. It was free and I enjoyed it immensely. We saw  so much and did so many things that it is hard to say what I liked the best, but certainly my fellow travelers were awesome. Again Gate 1 has a lock on attracting wonderful people to their tours. We had great moments together. Exchanging emails is proof that we plan to remain in touch.

I have just two regrets: 1) this trip should include two more days so that the travelers have 2 days in Glasgow. It was an exciting city, but we had only a few hours in it. Extend this trip to two days/nights in Glasgow.

2) there should be a boat ride on Loch Ness. The boat ride on Loch Lomond was fine. But we all wanted to say that we rode a boat in Nessie's environs.

I highly recommend this trip. Our guide Lorna was pleasant and sweet; the bus driver Tom stayed in character throughout the trip, constantly wearing his kilts.
