DAY 1 - Depart for Ireland
Depart for Ireland

DAY 2 - Arrive in Dublin
Welcome to Ireland, the "Emerald Isle!" Arrive in Dublin, the country's spirited capital, immortalized by James Joyce; pick up your reserved vehicle at the airport's Car Rental Facility. On the drive to your hotel, see the city’s contrasting architecture -- from modern glass skyscrapers to grand neoclassical facades, accented by lovely views of the River Liffey. Today, perhaps visit Phoenix Park, the largest enclosed city park in Europe, home to the official residence of the President and the Dublin Zoo. Or, stroll leisurely along Temple Bar with its charming narrow cobbled streets and statue-lined O'Connell Street, the city's main thoroughfare, dominated by the "Spire", the world’s tallest piece of sculpture. Dublin is filled with welcoming people, fabulous restaurants and cozy pubs on every corner where you can sample some of the local brews
Drive Time: 50 minutes*
Distance: 35 miles*
Overnight: Dublin Area

DAY 3 - Spectacular Drive to Galway
This morning, drive towards the west coast of Ireland to visit the world-famous Cliffs of Moher, a wall of rock that rises some 700 feet above the Atlantic. It is one of the most stunning meetings of land and water you're likely to ever see. Afterwards, make your way to the coastal village of Doolin, the traditional music capital of Ireland. Stop for lunch in one of the many quaint pubs. Later, drive to Kilfenora to see the famous Celtic Crosses (Irish High Crosses) on your way to The Burren, a vast limestone plateau that covers most of North County Clare. This stark environment has often been compared to the harsh lunar landscape of the moon. Visit the Gleninsheen Wedge Tomb and the 5,800 year old Poulnabrone Dolmen. Continue your drive to Kinvara fishing village famed for its Galway Hookers (boats). View the Dunguaire Castle, built in 1520, originally the royal palace of the King of Connaught. Arrive at Galway City, Ireland's cultural capital. This free-spirited bohemian city has a unique ambiance of its own. Tonight, explore the narrow pedestrian streets filled with boutiques and brightly painted pubs, alive with activity
Drive Time: 5.5 hours*
Distance: 223 miles*
Overnight: Galway
Meals: Breakfast

DAY 4 - Delights of Galway
Wander the city's cobblestone streets and you’ll feel yourself stepping back in time to medieval Ireland. Visit the famous Galway Farmers Market in Church lane for tastings of delectable Irish treats and just immerse yourself in the great atmosphere. This artsy and bohemian city is often referred to as the "most Irish" of the cities in Ireland. Alternatively, if you're in the mood for something really unique, we suggest a trip to the Aran Islands by boat that offers a glimpse into a way of life from a bygone era. Upon arrival on the island, opportunity to hire a bike or visit Dun Aonghasa, the largest of Aran's prehistoric stone forts enclosed by massive dry-stone walls and blocks of vertical limestone. Tonight, don't leave Ireland without trying the world-famous Galway Bay oysters at one of the local restaurants or pubs
Overnight: Galway
Meals: Breakfast

DAY 5 - Drive North to Belfast
Your journey north towards Belfast passes by the pilgrimage town of Knock where W.B. Yeats' Grave is near the distinctive outline of Ben Bulben Mountain in Sligo Countryside. On to Donegal and to Teelin to view the Slieve League sea cliffs, the highest in Europe reaching 1,972 feet. The cliffs drop straight down to the wild Atlantic waves creating marvelous views. Enjoy coffee or tea with home baked scones before driving to Londonderry. Pause for photos at the ruins of Dunluce Castle before visiting the magnificent Giant's Causeway, named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its over 40,000 symmetrical basalt columns leading from the coastal cliffs out to sea. Legend, history and folklore are combined here, beginning with the Irish tale of how the mighty giant Finn McCool created this geological wonder so he could walk to Scotland. Continue south to experience wonderful views of mountains, valleys and bays along the "Nine Glens of Antrim". Later, arrive in Belfast, capital of Northern Ireland, known today as one of Europe’s true renaissance cities. Here you’ll see historic buildings, European-style cafes and a rich and vibrant cultural life emphasized by the city's vibrant murals that have become an integral part of its modern history. In the evening, explore the city’s old-town streets and soak up some of the local culture and architecture. Enjoy dinner at one of the legendary pubs, known for excellent food and traditional Irish atmosphere. Saloons also abound, dating back to the 1800s, with Victorian age décor and working gas lamps
Drive Time: 6.5 hours*
Distance: 279 miles*
Overnight: Belfast
Meals: Breakfast

DAY 6 - Discover Belfast
The colonnaded façade and towering dome of the Edwardian City Hall is a good place to begin your exploration of this energetic city along with the newly renovated Ulster Museum, a repository of historic and artistic treasures. A must-see visit is the imposing Titanic Experience Museum, constructed in the same dockyard where the doomed ship was built. This museum, built the same size as the height of the Titanic, has nine galleries spread over six floors that tell the astonishing story of the Titanic from "rivets to requiem." In a nearby neighbourhood, you can see historic buildings that are still scarred from The Troubles, which ended with the 1998 Good Friday Agreement. View the world-famous political murals that dominate the area and take time to sign your name on the Peace Wall next to Bill Clinton, the Dalai Lama and many other dignitaries. Tonight, join the locals at a bustling restaurant or participate in a "pub crawl" and meet the locals. Belfast comes alive at night, with happenings on every corner!
Overnight: Belfast
Meals: Breakfast

DAY 7 - Return to Dublin
Today's journey back to Dublin. En route, stop at Downpatrick which means "Patrick's stronghold." You can first visit the Saint Patrick center where you will learn all about the saint who first came to Ireland as a boy slave to work as a Sheppard. You can see the film telling his life story before you take a short walk to Down Cathedral and his grave. Travelling south, arrive to the small village of Dundrum which holds one of the Ireland's Norman castles built by John de Courcy in the 12th century. Climb to the top of the battlements and gaze at these amazing coastal views as far as the eye can see. As you travel thrugh the northern Ireland's highest range of mountains, the Mourne Mountains, view Slieve Donard, the highest peak soars high above other peaks at a lake side stopping point. There is a hill called 'Magic Hill' where you will see with your own eyes your car 'roll up' a hill all by itself! As you drive further south make a short stop at Ross Monument located on a spectacular stretch of coast. This 99 ft pillar is dedicated to the man who burned down the White House in retaliation of the Americans burning York in 1813. York is now modern Toronto! Arrive in Dublin for overnight. This evening, enjoy a stroll along the Grand Canal, see the statue of poet Patrick Kavanagh, or walk along Merrion Square, childhood home of Oscar Wilde. Celebrate your last night in Ireland by treating yourself to a dinner of Irish specialities at one of Dublin’s fabulous restaurants or attend a rollicking Cabaret Show
Drive Time: 3 hours*
Distance: 100 miles*
Overnight: Dublin Area
Meals: Breakfast

It was a wonderful Ireland trip with a very knowledgable tour guide. Patrick and John did a great job bringing us to places in Ireland which have great historical significance to this country. The two Irish shows were fantastic and very entertaining and at the same time showed how the Irish struggled to come to its status now as a beautiful country. It was a trip worth remembering and keeping in my heart and memory.

The trip was so delightful! Gate 1 arranged excellent services and accommodations. Our guide, Francis Carroll, insured a pleasurable trip for all. He was engaging, interesting, and informative. He did an excellent job in transporting us throughout Ireland with a sense of calm comfort. I will definitely consider choosing Gate 1 for another trip!

Great experience!! Ireland is a beautiful country. Our transportation to and from the airport was flawless. The hotels were perfect. The food was great, everywhere we went. The sights were spectacular. The long hours on the bus and the time constraints were the only thing that we would say was a complaint. And it really isn't a complaint because we know without that we would have not seen everything that we did. Our tour guide and bus driver were great. Eric was our guide and he was always helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Ireland! We appreciate everything you did for us to make our once in a lifetime dream come true!!!

Our tour of Ireland was just perfect! Not only did the weather cooperate but we were led by Patrick, perhaps the BEST TOUR GUIDE in the business. This guy is everything one would hope for in a leader of a group tour. He's professional yet down-to-earth, knowledgeable AND hilarious! Everyone knew we were in excellent hands from the moment he introduced himself. And our Coach Driver, Peter, worked miracles to get us to and from our destinations with every measure of safety...and calm. These two men did Gate 1 very proud and deserve every good thing that can be said about them. Three Cheers for jobs very well done! The trip could only be described as 'magical'. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and caring. At no time did I feel uncomfortable. Our driver was skilled and truly made the trip enjoyable with his humor. Ireland is such a beautiful enchanting place, I now understand how stories of fairies, and little people, Pookas and banchees grew up there. Having the support of the Gate 1 crew from our travel agent to all the people involved set the stage for this incredible journey.

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip! Our trip was made more interesting and meaningful by Annie our tour guide who was so knowledgeable about the past and present history of the places we visited, please keep her forever, she is a gem! John, our driver, had the patience of a saint! He was undaunted, drove us expertly through the chaos of dizzying traffic, livestock and chatter of human beings that could drive a sane man into the brink of insanity. Among the most enjoyable highlights of the trip were, the luncheon visit at the farm owned by an Irish family gave us the opportunity to learn "up close and personal" about Irish farm life and the visit to the Atlantic sheepdog farm in Grange (Sligo) where owner, Martin's sheepdog Jack entertained us with what a well-trained border collie (Jack is #3 sheepdog in Ireland) can do to herd and "lord over" his master's sheep when necessary. This visit was such a wonderful and unique experience and should be a "must see" on this itinerary! Then my sister Clarita and I enjoyed visiting Cliff of Moher, Blarney Castle and Blarney Mansion and Gardens (which we missed last year when we visited Southern Ireland) and Galway again. On the way to Northern Ireland brought new awesome and fun discoveries, the W.B. Yeats Poetry reading and dinner, London Derry and its beautiful and historic city, the wonder of the Giant Causeway and the Titanic Museum in Belfast. Thanks Gate 1 for a wonderful and awe inspiring tour! My sister and I enjoyed trip so much we are looking into another one of your tours.

It was a wonderful trip of a life-time to Ireland. Gary, our travel guide, grew up in the Cork City, Ireland area and she truly loves her country. She was not only fun loving and knowledgeable but she watched over our tour group with great care and anticipated our every need. The Irish people are friendly and helpful to tourists visiting their country. We were impressed by how clean and well manicured the entire country is. The food was very good and the hotels were exceptional. We loved the music and story telling in the pubs and I participated in all of the side trips offered to us which were great fun.

The trip was a delight. It is obvious a great deal of research and preparation goes in to planning a trip like this, such that the customer experience is enhanced. The selection of hotels, the careful planning of locations to visit, and the amazing people who execute it all are what makes the experience a real joy. Martina, our tour guide, was so knowledgeable and passionate about her home country (Ireland) that you felt the true feeling of pride the Irish people have for their homeland and it's history. The drivers you employ are true professionals to be able to navigate the narrow roads and the traffic. My wife and I had a wonderful time, and will recommend Gate 1 to everyone. We're looking forward to another great trip with Gate 1. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for another great deal!

Our trip to Ireland was fabulous. We really enjoyed every aspect of it. The accommodations were wonderful, the suggested itinerary was very helpful, although we didn't get to everything on the plan we thoroughly enjoyed everything we did (and have a plan for our return, we will definitely take this trip again). We have booked several trips with Gate 1 and have consistently been very pleased with each one, we recommend your agency often.

It was great! Beautiful country. Friendly people. Fantastic food. Nice hotel. You can't walk 100 feet without being in front of a pub (Well, that could be a slight exaggeration). And I had two people in the car with me to keep me driving in the left lane. What more could I ask for other than a longer trip?

Our trip was fantastic. We will certainly book again through Gate 1. You guys are so detailed with everything, I loved it. There was no question unanswered. Everything was covered from passports, luggage, timing, reminders. You guys certainly know what you are doing. I keep looking at the specials sent our way anticipating our next trip. Our daughters also had a wonderful time. Everyone we tell about our trip can't believe what we got for what we paid. I think we have family and friends checking out gate 1. Thank you so much for all of your help and suggestions/recommendations. If there is a rating for you, I give you the highest rating. Thank you also for following up to see how the trip was. Details, details. You are awesome. Thank you.
