This moderately active, adventurous program is intended to offer an introduction to Iceland and give you the opportunity to search for and perhaps view the Northern Lights. Different from any other program, because of the extreme climate and unpredictable weather conditions, you should be prepared for itinerary and flight schedule changes. The included Northern Lights tours often extend late into the evening and exact schedules depend on local weather conditions. Sightings cannot be guaranteed. You can expect to walk over rough, uneven terrain in dark conditions, and therefore proper winter clothing and footwear as well as a flashlight are essential for your safety and comfort. Our trip was excellent. This is my second trip with Gate 1 and I am very happy with it. Our hotel was in the Ideal location. We were right in the center of town and could walk everywhere. It was very clean and the breakfast and service was excellent. Our tour guide Guccu was also great. She was very nice, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Overall it was fantastic and I always rave about Gate 1 to everyone I talk to. I have another trip planned with Gate 1 in April and I’m very much looking forward to it.

5 Day Iceland's Northern Lights, November 2017

The trip was excellent, I had limited concern as Iceland says they are a bit behind the curve in that the volume of tourists is increasing and their hotels etc are just now catching up , but I saw no lack of facilities. The hotel was good, the restaurants were great, the citizens of Iceland are very welcoming...Nothing could be improved upon , considering the geographies of the country, the trip, for me, was perfect. My tour director , Goodney and the driver, Augusto added very much to the enjoyment of this most pleasurable travel experience.

She made her country come alive for us. We would highly recommend this trip to anyone considering travel to Iceland!

Our trip was wonderful! We saw the Northern Lights on two of our four nights there -once while out on the hunt with our group and once while walking in town on our own. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the day trips and are very glad that we added the extra day to tour the Southern Shores. Our guide was excellent. We were surprised by the very high cost of food but we did find the food to be very good. Thank you for your help in setting up this trip for us.

We had a wonderful time - the guide (Ronnie) and driver (Auto) were excellent, hotels clean and comfortable, food was much better than expected even the hotel buffets were great. The Icelandic people were very nice. To top it off, our hunt for the northern lights was a success and Martha (guide) and bus driver (retired fireman) went above and beyond to find them - they were just as excited to see them as we were ! The most successful Gate 1 trip, all around, that we have been on! Will be calling with questions about Australia & New Zealand trip for 2018.

The trip to Iceland was so enlightening. Our guide was fun and so proud of the eco-friendliness of her country. She was always there for anyone with a question or in need of help. The star of the trip, however, is the country itself. Iceland can be barren and similar to a moonscape, yet nurturing and warm as her people and the Blue Lagoon. The geological formations are spectacular. All in all the trip should be on every ones' bucket list. Gate 1 is a great host for this country.

Our trip to Iceland was magical! We loved every aspect...the people, the hotel and staff with the amazing breakfasts, the tour guides, the northern lights, the volcanoes and the lava fields and rocks, the icebergs, the mountains, the roaring waves on the black sand beach, the museums, the weather with snow, hail, sleet, wind, beautiful sun all in the same days, the beauties of Rejiavik including the harbor, the city, Hofie house, the magical church built in 1974, and the food. A magical trip to a once in a lifetime adventure.

WE HAD A GREAT TIME!! Everything about our trip to Iceland was taken care of by our Gate 1 Guide and even the bus driver was friendly and courteous. It seemed we timed our trip perfectly as the first day was sunny and we were able to enjoy the Blue Lagoon (so warm and relaxing). The tour guide took us about 50 miles away from Reykjavik to find the best clear sky available so we could see the Northern Lights. We got some great pictures and everyone who joined us on this tour was friendly to the point of us exchanging e-mail addresses and making possible plans to get together in the future. We were pleasantly surprised with WOW airline. They met us at Newark Airport on our way in and took care of us when we came back as well. On board they sold water, juice, liquor and you could even order sandwiches or pizza from their in-flight menu. We will be looking forward to our next Gate 1 trip and we realize we would never be able to navigate the sights on our own. With Gate 1 we are taken care of and very pleased. Also, we thought our six days would be kind of rushed but it was perfectly planned and we enjoyed all the details of the various places we saw in Iceland.

My friends and I had a wonderful time in Iceland. The weather was better than expected, and we saw the Northern Lights on our first night. They were spectacular! The excursions and transfers that we booked through Gate 1 were first rate. Everything moved like a finely oiled machine. Our hostess, Sigrid, was also my hostess when I visited last year. She actually remembered me and greeted me with a big hug. When we ran into Sigrid in town (with her family) she helped us hail a taxi. What a testament to Sigrid and the warmth and dedication of the Gate 1 team in Iceland! We are already starting to talk about our next trip to Iceland and, I'm sure it will include Gate 1.

It was epic! We had a wonderful time. Every picture we took looks like it was out of National Geographic. Visited MINK photography and had some beast Viking portraits done, saw the northern lights, rode some horses and took a few tours. Probably the best trip I've ever taken.

Our trip was absolutely wonderful! It exceeded our expectations! Our tour guide, Hanna, was amazing. We learned so much about the culture and people of Iceland. Her knowledge of history and pride in her country were evident. We really enjoyed her. Our bus driver also did an excellent job. The optional tours that we signed up for were great. We learned so much, and the scenery was spectacular. Iceland truly is a beautiful country. Our hotel was great. The customer service at the desk was excellent. The breakfast was delicious. The view from the restaurant was wonderful. We're thankful that Gate 1 provided us with this opportunity to experience Iceland at a price that we could afford. This was our second trip with Gate 1, and we're looking forward to our next adventure! Keep up the great work. You obviously hire good people and train them well.

Dear Gate 1, my trip to Iceland was wonderful, amazing. Iceland is the safest country in the world for tourists. And that is a fact. Icelanders are very welcoming and polite and eager to show off their very diverse country. Yes, it was very cold and no, I didn't see the Northern Lights but I was having such a good time I didn't care. Went to the Blue Lagoon ,which is heavenly, took a day off and went into town, then, best of all, the South Shore Tour. We saw waterfalls and the most surreal beach (Vik) in the world. And now, the food. Our guide said "stick to the seafood, it's what we do best". He wasn't kidding. And being a seafood lover I almost detonated. It was incredible! And it really doesn't matter where you go, it's all good. Also, the purest drinking water in the world. I loved it and can't wait to go back. Perhaps in the summer?

It was a fantastic trip! Iceland is a beautiful country. Our tour guide, Hildur, was great. We got to see so much of the country. I was very happy with the tour. The people in the group and everywhere we went were so friendly. I can't wait to use Gate 1 again.

Great time except the weather did not cooperate for seeing Northern lights. Enjoyed our guide and the country's blue lagoon, horses, waterfall, and geyser were amazing.
