This fast-paced and active trip covers a lot of ground each day. We can spend two to three hours on our feet during tours where you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs, steps and significant slopes. Some light hiking is required to access some sites. Iceland’s weather can be unpredictable even in the summer time. Be prepared for cold, wet and windy weather. There are two long touring days. This tour is not recommended for people who have difficulty walking. Meals not included in your package may be expensive as most of Iceland’s food is imported. This is a Classic program. It was a beautiful and interesting trip indeed! Our tour guide Dagny was a fantastic guide full of knowledge and talent with the Northern Lights photography. Our driver Thor was an excellent driver, enabling us to relax while on the road. The history, museums and places we saw really made the trip informative.
Helene H. Philadelphia, PA
Our five-day Iceland adventure was spectacular! We cannot say enough great things about Gate 1 Travel, beginning with our initial booking back in August 2019, through every aspect of leading up to and our actual trip. Iceland Air flights from JFK-Iceland-JFK were on-time and comfortable. The Cabin Hotel was clean, modern and the Front Desk Staff were first-class and provided outstanding, professional customer service. The included European Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The airport/hotel transfer to/from the Hotel was easy, comfortable and seamless. The trip to the Blue Lagoon was fabulous! Gate 1 provided a private taxi for us from the hotel to the Lagoon, and the bus ride back was on-time and safe. The weather was wintry and did not permit the Northern Lights' Bus Trip to operate; however, we visited the Northern Lights' Museum. They provided a spectacular video of the Lights from all over Iceland, and we took pictures. All of our Facebook followers are SO impressed and in awe. Although we experienced winter in Iceland, we walked many miles throughout the Old Town, enjoying many of the local restaurants, bars and the nice Icelanders. In addition, we visited The Perlan Museum, the Maritime Museum and the FlyOver Iceland Museum. Each provided an interesting and educational experience! Thank you SO much for your assistance. We will travel with Gate 1 again.

Our trip was fantastic! Everything went smoothly. Our guide Oli was knowledgeable, experienced and accommodating. Iceland is a breathtaking place! The hotels were clean and comfortable. The welcoming & farewell meals were delicious! Everyone in our group got along well. This is definitely one of my favorite trips!
Jennifer W. Pacifica, CA
We had an amazing trip! The airline was great and the hotel was wonderful! The staff were terrific and the bus stop was close. Breakfast was good too. The tour guide for our Northern Lights Tour was especially awesome! He really loved what he was doing and told funny stories and gave us lots of information about the lights: what caused them, why they were different colors, how they got their name, etc. Thank you again! We will definitely use Gate 1 for any future travel abroad!
Sandra K. New Milford, CT
It was an amazing trip. The Icelanders have done a great job in preserving the natural beauty of its country. The major sites were accessible with trails and viewing decks… enjoyed the boat ride, came face to face with large icebergs, the waterfalls, geysers, hot springs, glaciers, Blue Lagoon bath... were all great! Our accommodations were all good specially Icelandic Hotel Notura with a free shuttle throughout the day to go downtown. That came in very handy since we did pre-accommodations. I can not ask for a better tour manager, Ingga, she was pleasant and knowledgeable. She was entertaining and had a good sense of humor. I really enjoyed it... I may go back!
Rosario V. Dublin, OH
Amazing! Oli is the best guide ever!! Friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. Made our trip even more amazing.
William M. Chester, VA
It was a great trip! We saw a lot of snow, and best of all, saw the fantastical northern lights, with all of their colors, flights and shape. Our guide Matt was great. He displaced a nice personality with a sense of humor. Could not have had a better trip!
Siu M. San Francisco, CA
My trip to Iceland was awesome. We learned so much history and geology. Iceland is beautiful with its waterfalls, hot springs, geyers, horses and black beaches. The Blue Lagoon was a favorite. Our guide was helpful and informative ... And we did see the Northern Lights which was a thrill. The guide made every possible arrangement for us to see the lights. All is good.
Maureen S. Mount Laurel, NJ
Fantastic trip. This Florida girl was not looking forward to Iceland in February, but the cold was overcome by the warmth and friendliness of the Icelanders we encountered on this trip. It is truly a beautiful and magical landscape. Blue Lagoon was certainly a highlight as was the Northern Lights, which we got to see! We came away with an admiration for their conservation and use of their natural resources to enhance their every day lives. A great cultural, educational and enchanting experience. Can't wait to go back!
Lesley C. Ocala, FL
Our trip was AMAZING! ... It would be the first trip that my sister and I have ever taken together and I felt, at the time, not knowing about the company- I would be taking a BIG RISK! However...what a pleasant surprise! Our ticket arrangements were accurate and without complications, the hotel accommodations at Hotel Klopp was perfect, location, staff, cleanliness and breakfast was all outstanding! The best part was that whenever I called, and I did so because I was nervous about the reservation being secure, someone personally responded to my call and answered my questions or needs with respect - taking time to ensure I understood the issue. There was never a long wait time, or numerous robot links to get a connection and I felt that the representative was not only patient but wasn't inconvenienced by the call. I now recommend Gate 1 Travel to everyone that asks about my trip to Iceland and I'm looking to book another trip soon! ... I can't imagine why I didn't travel this way earlier. Live and Learn!
Rochelle T. Tucson, AZ
The trip to Iceland was fantastic and we will definitely be using Gate 1 in the future for international vacations. Gate 1 takes care of everything and we were extremely impressed with how easy the trip was. Our tour guide Hanna made the trip even better with her vast knowledge and entertaining personality.
Derek C. Tyrone, PA
My trip was awesome and I saw the Northern Lights! Our tour manager, Helga was very, very good. She told us the history of every place we visited but not only that, while traveling on the bus, she shared very interesting information about Iceland and its progress over the years. Our tour guide, Stephan who escorted us the second time to see the Northern Lights was also very good. He was entertaining and patient. Thank you Gate 1 for a well organized tour.
Norma K. Astoria, NY

Lorraine N. Sharon, MA
We had an absolutely amazing experience! The country itself was gorgeous and we had such a great time! Gate 1 really took the stress and work out of planning the trip so we could just enjoy ourselves. The trip met and exceeded all of our expectations. We've already recommended to several friends and will continue to share the great experience we had! Thank you again Gate 1 for the amazing service!

The trip to Iceland was wonderful! We had only one day that was overcast/rainy. The rest of the trip was clear and sunny. Our Tour Manager, Gouny Margret Emilsdottir was great. She was very informative, knowledgeable and fun. We saw many interesting things, ate some exotic foods, and learned so much about the island and country of Iceland. We had a great time.
William P. Cutler Bay, FL
Wonderful! Everything was great & program director was the best!
Nancy P. Waynesville, NC.
Iceland was amazing...stunningly beautiful outdoors...glaciers, mountains, waterfalls. Our tour guide, Amara, was the right mix of easy-going for group travel as well as informative about all things Icelandic.

Great trip! Loved it! Hildur is a fantastic tour director- a great organizer, patient question answerer, and a wealth of information. The small group we traveled with was an unexpected pleasant surprise. Everyone got along great and some solid friendships were formed. Wonderful itinerary - very well planned. Augusta, our driver, was a very competent, safe driver and also very personable. We had a wonderful trip and I will highly recommend this tour to my family and friends.

Our trip to Iceland was amazing, Helga, our guide, Fred, our driver, and the incredible scenery of Iceland were all wonderfully amazing. Each day was such a pleasure to see how it unfolded, the scenery was constantly breathtaking , the abundance of waterfalls, the immense lava fields, the geothermal areas and of course, the Icelandic horses, all were jaw dropping!
Lillian C. Parson, BC, CA
The Iceland trip was outstanding! The tour, the guide (Gugga), the meals (especially at the tomato farm), and the hotels were excellent. Experiencing the Northern Lights, the Blue Lagoon, the Black Beach, and all the other wondrous sights was amazing! Gugga and our new friends, who we met on the tour, made the experience even more fun.

Trip was excellent, the tour guide was excellent, she left us in no doubt about what to expect, kept us up to date all the way through our trip. The coach driver was exceptional, he drove in some terrible conditions and got us to our destination safely, it was an experience. We have travelled a lot over the years, they were the best partnership I’ve ever encountered. I would travel with your company again, it was very well organised, we were kept up to date the whole way through.
Patricia S. Castle Hill, NSW, AU

Our trip was excellent. This is my second trip with Gate 1 and I am very happy with it. Our hotel was in the Ideal location. We were right in the center of town and could walk everywhere. It was very clean and the breakfast and service was excellent. Our tour guide Guccu was also great. She was very nice, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Overall it was fantastic and I always rave about Gate 1 to everyone I talk to. I have another trip planned with Gate 1 in April and I’m very much looking forward to it.

Megan E. Chicago, IL
The trip was terrific. Thanks for asking. We are a family with a wide age span ( 70, 50, 45 and 12). Everyone of us loved the trip. The raw landscape was breathtaking. Our guides were knowledgeable and helpful. The Blue Lagoon, at the end of our trip, was incredible.
Carol D. Oceanport, NJ
My trip was great! Our guide Luvisa was excellent. She was so helpful and informative. The town was very easy to visit and the bus system was so punctual. The water was so good and FREE! I would definitely recommend.
Barbara B. Jackson, NJ
The trip was excellent, I had limited concern as Iceland says they are a bit behind the curve in that the volume of tourists is increasing and their hotels etc are just now catching up , but I saw no lack of facilities. The hotel was good, the restaurants were great, the citizens of Iceland are very welcoming...Nothing could be improved upon , considering the geographies of the country, the trip, for me, was perfect. My tour director , Goodney and the driver, Augusto added very much to the enjoyment of this most pleasurable travel experience.
Suzanne P. Olympia, W
We had a great trip with Gate 1 to Iceland. The itinerary was perfect. We had a wonderful time and a memorable vacation. The tour guide, Hanna, is the best tour guide we ever had. She is very professional, knowledgeable, and entertaining. We would like to go back to Iceland and would definitely consider booking with Gate 1 again for future trips.
Li L. Dearborn, MI
Our Iceland trip was everything we have come to expect from Gate 1. A fun, organized, informative adventure. No other travel company provides a better value with such a high level of service. Our tour guide in Iceland, Hanna, was amazing. She gave us a better understanding of what it is like to be Icelandic with the perfect blend of history, culture, and personal stories. She made her country come alive for us. We would highly recommend this trip to anyone considering travel to Iceland!
Stacey S. Baltimore, MD
