Half Day Escorial Tour

Enjoy a visit to what has often been described as the "eighth wonder of the world." El Escorial is, perhaps, Philip II's most enduring legacy to Spain. This combination monastery-palace-mausoleum is situated approximately one hour outside of Madrid in the foothills of the Guadarrama Mountains. This austere monastery, erected by King Philip II in 1584, was intended to be a memorial to his father, King Charles V, and to commemorate Spain´s victory at Saint Quentin in 1557. It has since become the burial place of subsequent Spanish kings and queens.

Approximate tour duration is 4 hours.

Day #3 13 Jun 2018 - 31 Dec 2018 $80.00
01 Jan 2019 - 31 Mar 2019 $80.00
Half Day Escorial Tour Thumbnail
Evening Flamenco Show

This evening, enjoy a drink and traditional Flamenco show. As performed by some of Seville's leading Flamenco artists, enjoy routines based on the cante jondo or "deep song," which describes the performer's profound emotions in ancient poetic phrases. Although the development of Flamenco has centered principally in the region of Andalucia, it has come to embrace many of the folk traditions of the northern provinces. As a result, it has become, along with the bullfight, a popular symbol of Spain.

Approximate tour duration is 2 hours.

Day #6 16 Apr 2018 - 31 Dec 2018 $60.00

The trip was great. It was everything I expected and more. Gate1 travel has done it again. The tour guide was very informative and friendly. Spain was great, words can't explain. The tapas, bocadilla de calamari, tortilla de espana.and the paella. The places, the plaza mayor Prado eas just the top of things to see. I think one could spend a month in Madrid and still not see everything. I could write pages, if I go on. Just like the trip to Israel, it was amazing. Can't wait to book my next trip with you. I will never travel any other way.

As a first time Gate 1 traveler I am extremely satisfied with the entire trip. There were 49 wonderful people in our group. I was the only solo traveler but had no trouble fitting in immediately. Our guide, Daniel, was simply the best guide ever! He called us Family and treated us as such. The local tour guides were terrific. Truthfully, I’ve never had a better art museum tour than the one at the Prada. I can’t remember his name but he was so passionate about explaining the art work. He did the same at the castle. Our group was exceptionally cooperative and considerate of each other - never a late person! We set up an e mail list that I volunteered to type up and we’ve already shared pic. I’ve already recommended Gate 1 to my friends.

It was wonderful. Everything was well planned. Our Tour Director Judith was very helpful, considerate and friendly. She kept every one of us in her sight and thought during the entire tour. Hotels were fantastic. Keep it up.

We had a fantastic time! Jesus and Danny were both awesome tour managers. Our local tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. The hotels were all very nice and even our driver, Jose, made us feel welcome and comfortable. This was our first international experience and I can't wait to book our next trip!

The trip was AMAZING!! Our guide Piotr made all the difference, and the local guides were very knowledgeable as well. It will be difficult to match such a wonderful experience in future tours. The food, the hotels, our group, everything was perfect. Thank you for your support in everything.

Our trip was fantastic. Met lots of nice people and our tour guide, Andres, went above and beyond the call of duty. Portugal and Spain are both beautiful places to visit I would recommend them to everyone.

It was amazing! Why didn't anyone tell us years ago how awesome Spain is? What an incredible country! We had a great time! Gained a couple of pounds from the paella (yum!); made new friends (going out with them tonight); and saw one of the most beautiful countries in the world! Our tour manager was wonderful, our guides were interesting and knowledgeable, and we had a good balance of together time and free time.

Our trip was great! Gate 1 provided first class service! Our tour guide Odete was organized, accommodating and extended the finest Portuguese hospitality. Our driver, Helder, was courteous and provided comfort and safety while we were on the bus. We enjoyed the people, the food, the sights and every excursion we included on our trip. Thank you Gate 1 Travel!

My trip to Portugal was excellent. Everything went smoothly from the flights, the weather and everything included in this tour. Our tour guide Odete was excellent. She was kind, friendly and so informative. She also has a great sense of humor....had us laughing every day. I also must give credit to Helder our driver, he also was very kind and friendly. He was a competent driver and made sure we were all safe. As always, I was completely satisfied with another Gate 1 tour. Thank you Gate 1 once again!

The trip was great! I've done several Gate 1 escorted tours, and loved (almost) every Tour Manager, but Lisa was stellar! She really went above and beyond her duties. Every evening that we arrived at a new town, she was eager to take the group on a walking orientation tour that wasn't on our itinerary but was greatly appreciated. She is a jewel. I'm already looking forward to my next Gate 1 tour, even though it's not until November. :)

We had a wonderful tour and definitely will be returning to Gate 1 in the future. Luis was an excellent tour leader--very organized, personable and a delight to be around. The guides at each site were also very good. Especially Jose??? who took us through the Prado museum in Madrid; his passion for the art was effusive. Our driver Juan was very good, always had the bus under control and was very skilled at negotiating narrow ramps and streets. The hotel selections were also very good, putting us near the most active city areas for good walking access. The provided meals were excellent. The itinerary was a bit rushed at times but I think that it had to be to cover seven cities in nine days on the ground.
