My trip was amazing. It exceeded my expectations. Arriving in Guatemala as a "single traveler" I must admit I was a bit nervous. But from the moment I was greeted my the driver that all went away. The guide (Stewart) met me in the AM and my adventure in Guatemala & Honduras were spectacular. I found all aspects of the experience VERY BEAUTIFUL. Our guide was very informative, Stewart took every effort to make sure that we always were engaged, enjoying and comfortable during our travels. All of the Gate 1 arrangements were easy to navigate. I found it so rewarding that I have already recommended to friends.

It was awesome! Our guide Darrio was so knowledgeable. You can tell he really enjoys what he does, and it made the 2-3 hour drives between destinations bearable. He'd ask us frequently if we needed a break to stop somewhere to stretch our legs or use the restroom. The market in Chichi was beautiful and eye opening. The sights were all beautiful as a matter of fact. My 72 year old grandmother and I traveled to Guatemala together and she told me it was one of the best trips she's taken.

Great trip! Wonderful hotels, excellent food, outstanding guide! This is the second trip with gate 1 and better than the first. I tell people (including my sister who likes to travel) that gate 1 value can't be beaten. I have taken tours with more expensive companies and even a couple private ones and this tour is much better value.

This was the first time that I've travelled with Gate 1 and was most impressed. The Tour Director, Stuart, was terrific. He was organized, punctual, well informed, helpful and cheerful. One of the best I've ever experienced and I've taken over 30 organized tours. The accommodations were superb - in an area where I was not expecting 5 star hotels, I got them anyway!! All the breakfasts and dinners were top quality. All in all, the trip was wonderful and I'll not hesitate to travel with Gate 1 again and I'll definitely recommend your company to my friends.

Our trip to Mexico was outstanding especially because of our wonderful guide. Your organization should know how special BACHO is. You are lucky he does some groups for you. We learned so much because of his knowledge of Mexico's History and Natural bird and plant life. He was gracious and kind and extremely detail oriented. We also had a wonderful bus Driver, Michel. Knowing that he was so competent allowed us to be relaxed on the long bus rides. Now, back to reality!

Jie Sun and I enjoyed very much our trip to Panama. All the tours were very well organized. We are especially impressed by our tour manager Patricio for his knowledge (not only about each visiting site but also about the country and the world at large), his management skill, his friendly personality, his passion about his home country Panama, and his prefect English (US style). It is certainly a gift to have a person like Patricio to be our tour manager. To have people like Patricio working for Gate 1 is a strong testimony to Gate 1's success in the business of tourism! We will certainly consider joining other Gate 1 tours in the future. Will have no hesitation to recommend Gate 1 to friends for their vacation considerations.

Our trip was better than I anticipated. This was our first visit to Guatemala. From what I've previously read regarding safety issues in that country we were somewhat apprehensive. I literally had to persuade my husband into booking this trip. And, as it turned out from day one our fears were laid to rest (of course we practiced common sense and remained diligent as you would wherever you go). My husband and I throughly enjoyed the visits to all the pyramids as well as the other sites on our itinerary. Tony, our tour guide, couldn't be better. He went beyond what is expected to make our trip informative, fun, and our safety was paramount to him. Gate 1 is soooo lucky to have him!!! This was only our 2nd trip through your company. And now, I know why most of the other travelers have traveled with you repeatedly. My husband said, "I had a great time, our trip was wonderful, I'm so glad you talked me into going".

Our trip was fantastic! This is the first time we have used Gate 1 Travel and everything was beyond our expectations! The country of Panama gave us some fantastic memories of a wonderful guide, Roberto... who went above and beyond to do everything to serve us and see we had every need met, beautiful accommodations, excellent food and service, and a wonderful order of sightseeing that gave us an true sense of the entire country.

We loved the arrangements of the flights, transfers, and communication regarding every aspect of our trip. We have already suggested Gate 1 to friends and acquaintances. We will definitely be looking to use Gate 1 tours again. We felt we met friends through our trip, but we also felt we had friends with Gate 1 that wanted every part of our vacation to be a success!

Our trip to Guatemala was wonderful. Our flights were on time and comfortable and we had wonderful accommodations in Guatemala.

Gate 1 employees were always on time and very courteous. Our tour guides, Stuart and Raual, (I am sure I spelled both names incorrectly) were exceptional. They gave us the best information and could answer all our questions so we learned a lot about the country. The drivers were also really good - we never felt unsafe riding with them. We will recommend your company to our friends and relatives and we hope to be able to take another tour some day.

The trip was great.  Panama was wonderful, very hot but a fascinating place.

It was Colombia that I really fell in love with though.  Most folks thought Medellin was the highlight of the trip but I loved Bogota.  Cool, up in the mountains, filled with people who love to smile, beautiful sights, wonderful and diverse foods.  The scenery on the drive from Manizales to Medellin was as surreally beautiful as any I've ever seen.

Our guide in Panama, Roberto was very good.  Our guides in Colombia, both our tour manager and our local guide in Manizales were well beyond good. They were absolutely wonderful. So thanks for putting this together for me. I hope to do more as far as combining trips like I did on this one.

11 Day Panama & Costa Rica, March 2015

We very much enjoyed our trip to Panama and Costa Rica.  We have enjoyed traveling with Gate 1 in the past and hopefully, will do so in the future.  Despite warnings from friends regarding safety, virus and bacterial infections, food and water contamination, humidity affecting electronics, sunburn, thievery and muggings, we had no problems.  We trust Gate 1 and, once again, thank you for providing a wonderful and safe trip for us.

Ricardo was our tour guide in Panama.  He was so pleasant and knowledgeable about his country and is such an asset to your company.  We especially enjoyed the excursion to the indigenous village of the Embrera tribe.  What a great experience, memories will last a life time.  We were disappointed that there were no activities offered for the evenings in Panama.  We learned, on our own, of a dinner and Panamanian dance show, which we attended.  Many of our fellow travelers would have liked to attend as well, but did not learn of it until too late.  There were no group dinners offered in the evening, which would have given all an opportunity to enjoy the experience together, such an event would have been nice. Another inconvenience occurred, when our airport transfer driver, who was scheduled to come at 4:30 AM showed up at the hotel at 3:30 AM.

Costa Rica was marvelous.  Zarah was our tour guide.  Wow!  She was terrific and kept us busy all the time with activities, lunches and dinners and overall a great experience.  It was exactly the right kind of trip for us, good food, introductions to different cultures, moderate physical activity, with lots of events to participate in, plus spectacular scenery.

The 5 day trip to Guatemala was the perfect way to spend the long Presidents' Day weekend!  With travel days and time at leisure in Guatemala City the actual tour was just two days, but it provided a wonderful glimpse of this Central American country.  The Barcelo Hotel in Guatemala City was fantastic - lovely rooms, very secure, nice public spaces inside and out, three restaurants with good food and very nice staff.  The tour was with the help of the long established Clark Tours and there were only seven of us on this special Gate 1 itinerary.

Our guide Franz was kind, very experienced, knowledgeable and shared great stories.  The driver Danilo was very talented and super nice.  We visited the lovely town of Antigua, with many restored buildings, some beautiful ruins and full of life.  Then on to Chichicastenango, for an overnight at the very serene and cute Mayan Inn, where every room has a fireplace and your very own attendant will come light it for you, which is a nice touch in the chilly high altitude air.  The restaurant and bar were very nice and the courtyards peaceful.  Staying overnight also allows you to visit the famous Chichi market early on Sunday morning before it gets much busier later in the day. Then on to the beautiful volcanic crater Lake Atitlan which was spectacular. Franz suggested the Sunset Café for a lovely lunch with a lake and volcano vista - heaven to feel the sun after the cold and snow of Connecticut!

So yet again, a flawless trip - my 12th with Gate 1 and more to come for sure! Thank you!

Gate 1 Travel is 1st rate with me because it always meets my expectations. Once I get on the plane to whatever destination I am left with 2 questions what to wear and what to eat....Gate 1 looks after all the rest for my entire trip.

This trip to Guatemala & Honduras was exceptional. The group was small only 15. We had a small van with air conditioning which could cope with the rain forest temperatures. It was so easy getting in and out of. No high steps. Luggage was easily loaded and unloaded.

This is a poor country and a lot of the time is spent driving through the countryside. Our guide Tony was super he was able to plan our time so we never got bored. Drives could be long but stops were well planned so we never felt we were killing time. His knowledge of Mayan culture was excellent and he shared his insight as we progressed.

Hotels were excellent with swimming pools. Breakfasts offered anything you could think of but the variety of fresh fruit made them special. Lots of hot water and tons of pillows on the beds.

Tony our guide was exceptional. No one recognized the amount of time he spent planning and carrying out our activities. He was able to recognize very quickly when the temp was too high or the terrain was too difficult. He made arrangements for the less adventuresome and made sure the agenda was completed for those that cared.

Great trip. Super driver along some tricky roadways . Guide with great personality and tuned into his tourists needs. Made our trip to Guatemala a trip to remember.

The trip went very well. I was worried that 5 days wouldn't be enough to see Panama but it worked out very well and I got to see everything and had plenty of time at each of our stop along the way. The tour guide and driver who were with us throughout the three cities and took us to the national park were great. They answered all our questions and were able to pack so much into a few days without making it overwhelming.

Overall a nice package put together by Gate 1, well done.

Our trip to Guatemala couldn't have been any better. We absolutely enjoyed every minute from the flight down there to the flight home. It was fantastic! This was our first trip with Gate 1 and going to Guatemala. Both far exceeded our expectations! The accommodations, tours and tour guides were excellent! Our tour guides were Antonio (Tony) and Hector.

I traveled with my mom for our first mother/Daughter trip out of the country. It turned out we were one of 3 mother/daughter couples, which made it extra special. My mom even said the tour buses were the most comfortable she had ever been on. We loved the fact that the tours were small and we really got to know the people on our bus, which was super fun!

It was a flawless trip! We can't wait to use Gate 1 again!

The trip was amazing...the people, the food, the places. Everything far exceeded our expectations. The hotel in Guatemala City was very well located in the city and made it easy to go out for a bit and walk around during the day. The rooms themselves were wonderful, amazing views of the surrounding mountains and volcanoes. The room in Chichicastenango was gorgeous, very rustic, and a little cold at night, but it added to the experience.

The cities were so beautiful. The tour guides were very knowledgable and accommodating. It was just an all-around wonderful experience. My fiancé was a little apprehensive when we first booked the vacation, but by the end of the trip she didn't want to come home. Your trip was exactly what we needed. We will definitely book another trip through Gate 1. Thanks for a wonderful time!

Really interesting. The Canal Trip was fascinating, We've been reading about the canal and its history and it was amazing to see it in person. The guides were perfect. They were nice and professional and informative. Everything ran very smoothly.

We arrived very late on Wednesday - too late to attend the orientation. Earlier I had been concerned about how we would know where and when to meet for the next day's tours. Carmen had a thorough itinerary - with contact information - available. She had asked Moses, the driver who picked us up at the airport, to give it to us so we had no problems hooking up with the group. I really appreciated that. We always enjoy traveling with Gate 1. Thank you for the great job you do.

The trip was awesome. This is our second trip with Gate 1 and certainly not our last.

We are already trying to figure out where we want to travel with you next. We recommend your agency to EVERYONE. Your accommodations, tour guides and day trips are simply outstanding. All we have to do is show up!

Thanks for the great service.

It was wonderful. We had just the right mix of Mayan history, colonial cities like Antigua, and varying climates with the North and East hot and humid and Guatemala City and the West cooler and at a much higher altitude.

The hotels were quite nice and varied from modern to Old World. We also liked the many modes of transportation especially transiting by boat.

The 10 day trip was at a good pace and we saw much of Guatemala and appreciated the day in Honduras. Both tour guides (Berta & Tony) were professional and attentive. The drivers were also excellent.

We really enjoyed the trip.

This was our 9th vacation with Gate 1 and we have yet to be disappointed.

We enjoyed it very much. The ruins were great, the bus comfortable, and the jungle time very interesting. Even better than expected!

Barcelo Guatemala Hotel is such a great choice!  Antigua, wow, what a gorgeous place!  I also loved Chichicastenango and the Mayan Inn, cozy room with a fireplace, no TV or telephone, great service, and surrounded by nature, singing birds, etc!  I also loved the market and its people! Our tour guide, Stewart, was also good, and Samuel, my tour guide for a half day Guatemala City tour, super good!  I'm very happy with this trip, thank you! I give it A+! Guatemala is very colorful and beautiful and this trip exceeded my expectation! I will recommend this trip to my friends!

My family and I had a great time. The Classic Guatemala package was an adventure. We were looking for an educational experience and a vacation in one. We found it and much more in this package. From the five star hotel in Guatemala city to hiking through the rain forest of Tikal, it was first class all the way. I am very impressed with how Gate 1 took care of even the small details. Our travel mates were equally impressed. Our hat is off to Gate 1 and all of their associates.

My husband and I had a great time in Guatemala.  We were happy with the hotel, Barcelo.  Our tour to Antigua and Lake Atilan turned out to be a private tour.  I guess it was not tourist season there yet.  We bought a lot of interesting souvenirs.  We were happy with the services of the tour guides.

It was great!  We had the best tour guide, Tony, and the best driver.  We also had a group of interesting people.  This was my second time on the same tour, it is probably unheard of, but I wouldn't mind going again because the itinerary is so well organized.  Everyday I can just wake up, enjoy breakfast and go with the group, no need to think or plan anything.
You guys at Gate 1 really did a great job finding the best local tour for us. I can't wait for my next trip with you soon.

This was a wonderful trip!  I live in Dallas and it's hard to believe that just a 3 hour flight away one could find themselves in such a vastly different culture with proximity to amazing ancient sites.

The first tour guide, Giovanni, was the best tour guide I've ever had with Gate 1 or from any tour company for that matter.  He was not only extremely intelligent and accommodating for the travelers, but he actually became part of the group by sitting in the middle of the bus carrying on conversations and answering questions. The second tour guide, Stuardo, was intelligent and always in a professional mode.

I will definitely recommend a trip to Guatemala/Honduras to all of my friends!
