Travel to the charming city of Dolores Hidalgo, where the seeds for the independence of modern day Mexico started. It was at the foot of its main church that Father Miguel Hidalgo ignited the insurgence against the Spanish in 1810. The tour begins at the tree-lined Zocalo, a popular meeting point; view the magnificent monument dedicated to Mexico’s national heroes. Next, visit the beautiful baroque church followed by a delicious homemade ice cream tasting from one of the many street vendors around the main square. Be adventurous and try the different exotic flavors! After, visit a “talavera” factory to see how local colorful ceramics are made before returning to San Miguel Allende.

The trip was very good and our guide, Mr. Douglas did an excellent job. He was very knowledgeable, funny and provided all the important information on arrival. His knowledge of the area was most helpful and we had a great time. I have already recommended this trip to few of my friends who did not make it this time.Laxmichand S. Schaumburg, IL
Fantastic!! Nacho and Monica were both wonderful—as was their country! As a first-timer, I really appreciate the extra effort Gate 1 took while selecting the hotels and restaurants— thank you!Paula S. San Diego, CA
The trip to the Copper Canyon was wonderful. The trip by bus showed us an extensive area of Sonora and Chihuahua. The vast canyon was beautiful to see in the varying light from morning to evening. The train ride from El Fuerte to Posada Barrancas was spectacular with the mountains and changing vegetation as we climbed higher. Douglas was an excellent tour leader. On the long bus rides, he told us about the economies of the states, the history of the areas and the history of Mexico ..... He kept us informed about the daily schedules and helped to make sure that everyone was having a good time.Loretta G. Minneapolis, MN
It was absolutely incredible. It's a trip I have wanted to take for decades and glad I never made it until Gate 1 offered this tour. I always expect good tours from when I travel with you but this one really exceeded our expectations. The activities and programs were educational as well as just plain enjoyable. Our guide Edel and driver were excellent. Thanks for offering such fantastic tours.Barbara H. Rochester, IN
The Copper Canyon trip was very rewarding. During the trip our guide Juan kept us informed about history, geography, culture, and the many birds and plants we saw during the bus rides. The restaurants were very clean and the food was delicious. Hotels were the best and had great views. Juan made sure we had a wonderful trip.Frank R. Derwood, MD
Excellent! Great tour director/guide and very good driver. Interesting venues, and unique accommodations. Good food. We had a wonderful time. And we had a good group of interesting and nice people with us.John D. La Honda, CA
It was great. Most comprehensive tour yet. Informational videos, meals. Locations for meals. Quality of Hotels. Bay tour in San Carlos. Pearl hatchery. The menonite museum visit and lunch The tour guide was outstanding. He went above and beyond Best tour yet. I highly recommend it.Bernardo S. Pasadena, CA
Our trip was wonderful! My wife and I enjoyed every aspect of our journey, from the excellent service provided by our guide Juan to the great food and spectacular sights we visited along the way. We had a large and greatly diversified group that made for great conversation. We especially enjoyed our visit to the boarding school and mixing with the children. Your dedication to helping local people should be commended. Again, great trip and looking forward to our next Gate 1 tour in June.Robert P. Nashua, NH
Excellent. Accommodations, tours, pacing were fine. Carlos, the guide, was very good in terms of information, friendliness, helpfulness, and the dispensing of needed information at the right time. Good planning, Gate 1.Marcia H. Greensboro, NC
The trip was excellent. Our tour guide Sergio could not have done more for us. All in all, we will recommend the trip to our friends.Allan E. Washington, DC
The trip was awesome. The tour director, Mr. Bacho Lopez, was well read, articulate, effective, and efficient. He had very detailed and elaborate answers on history, fauna, and flora of the region as well as the local culture and industry. It was obvious that he is proud of his country and heritage and was more than happy to share his wisdom and experience with the tourists. Because I traveled alone and was the youngest female tourist on the trip, he had fatherly consideration for me. He is a true gentleman. I consider taking other trips to Mexico with Gate 1 in the future if he is the tour guide.Crinela T. Wyandotte, MI
The trip was everything promised, and more. Our main tour guide, Bacho, was simply outstanding. Starting in Cancun and working our way towards our finale at the museums in Mexico City was the perfect sequence for fully embracing this unique culture.Jim L. Waynesboro, VA
We were fortunate to have Manuel as our tour guide and coordinator. His knowledge of history, anthropology, ornithology, botany and many, many other fields is truly amazing. It was our pleasure to be in the company of a true professional and gentleman. We particularly enjoyed his sharp wit and his caring and passionate love for his country and work. We were a large group with...yet Manual handled every situation with tact and diplomacy. We were also equally impressed with the skills of our driver, Javier. We felt completely safe in his capable hands. And last, but not least, our assistant tour manager, Douglas, another wonderful travel mate, gave a wonderful presentation on pearl farming. We would gladly take this tour again, if assured the company of these three gentlemen. They truly made the trip remarkable.Millard R. St Petersburg, FL
The trip was even better than I hoped it would be. Carlos is the best tour guide I have ever had. Efficient, knowledgeable, friendly and ever present to ensure we had an amazing experience. Arturo was a silent hero, some of the road conditions were awful but he is excellent driver. I always felt safe and cared for by both men. I saw and did things that will always be wonderful memories. This was my first trip with Gate 1 but I will look for others because it was such a positive experience. Thanks to your company and a special thanks to Carlos and Arturo.Patricia A. Green Valley, AZ
We greatly enjoyed our Mayan and Aztec Discovery trip in Mexico. Carlos Perez was a very good TM. We enjoyed the cultural and historical information he and the local guides shared.Eric F. Alexandria, VA
Our trip was just great as usual with Gate 1. Our tour director was excellent and the local guides at the various ruins we visited were very knowledgeable on the Mayan and Aztec cultures. The hotels were well located and the food was great. The most beautiful city we visited was Puebla. If we could recommend any changes it would be to extend this trip by a day or two so we could enjoy the city of Puebla more.Joe M. Sundridge, ON
Absolutely fabulous! Great accommodations, entertainment, transportation. Sergio Garcia was the best tour guide I have ever experienced. He had everything covered: from information to change. Simply an amazing person and very hard worker for your company. Thanks for everything!!Thayne H. Baton Rouge, LA
The trip was excellent. Well planned itinerary. Bacho, our tour leader, was excellent. He worked very hard to ensure everyone had a good time, and all our needs were met. For meals, we were able to choose from 3 items, preorder, so our meals were ready at the specified time. Food was very good quality and variety. This was a great time saver. We appreciated that all food venues had purified water for drinking and to wash fruits and vegetables. Bus driver provided bottled water en route. It was nice to have talented local entertainment after dinner.Marilyn O. St Alberta, AB
It was a wonderful trip. Bacho, our leader, made the trip a real success. The bus and driver were top notch. All the hotels and meals were very good. Thank you for a great trip.Edwin G. Edmontone, AB
It was a great trip. The selection of stopping points, Hotels and pit stops, was very good if with great variety. The driver was excellent. He knew his route and handled the vehicle extremely well under all conditions. The guide Juan was exceptional. Although he was from Mexico his diction was flawless. Many times accents make comprehension difficult. This was NEVER an issue with Juan. He knew every location and could provide details of every area that we traveled through. He was able to present the itinerary in a clear concise and entertaining manor. We enjoyed the trip immensely and would recommend it.Frederick M. Dix Hills, NY
It was absolutely wonderful. The scenery was stunning. The hotels were great. The best part of the whole trip was the tour manager, Bacho. He handle everything that was thrown at him in a very professional manner and is very knowledgeable and proud of his country and it showed. This makes me want to go on another Gate 1 tour. Please send him a job well done from me.Wanda B. Cleveland, OH
I had a great time and I believe most of it was due to Bacho our tour guide! He really made the trip for us. He is so knowledgeable, so organized, so polite and I felt very well taken care of. He's the best tour guide I've ever experienced.Elana L. San Francisco, CA
