Please note that Ramadan is observed from April 2 until May 1 in the United Arab Emirates. From sunrise to sunset, eating and drinking in public areas are prohibited but are allowed in restaurants and hotels. At least one restaurant located inside of the hotels will remain open during Ramadan and food courts in shopping malls are open for tourists. During the evening (after sunset), restaurants are open for dinner. Eating and drinking are then allowed in public areas, alcohol is allowed to be served in the bars and restaurants. Background music may be played at bars however nightclubs with DJs and live bands are not allowed during Ramadan.

Enjoy panoramic views of the Emirates skyline as you sail along the Corniche of Abu Dhabi. Dhows have been the traditional ships of the Arab Emirates for many centuries and tonight you have the opportunity to board one of these vessels and dine at a sumptuous buffet with unlimited soft drinks while you quietly cruise by the landmarks of the city.

Start off the day with a city tour of the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, also known as the Arabian Jewel. Begin at the magnificent Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, an iconic symbol of Abu Dhabi. Drive through al Bateen area, also known as the Royal and Presidential District. Stop at the Zayed House for a fascinating sneak peek into the life of the late Sheikh Zayed, 'Father of the Nation'. Continue to the Emirates Palace for a photo stop. Drive along the city's glamorous Corniche, with blue waters glittering on one side and shimmering skyscrapers lining the other. At the Breakwater, pause to take photos of the city's fabulous skyline. Admire cultural art at the Arab World's first universal museum, the Louvre Abu Dhabi before returning to your hotel.

Begin the tour at iconic Qasr al Hosn, the symbolic birthplace of Abu Dhabi which has existed since the 1760s as a coral and sea stone watchtower. It is the oldest most significant structure of Abu Dhabi, that has served over the centuries, as home to the ruling family, seat of government, and national archive. Qasr al Hosn, is now a museum telling the history of Abu Dhabi. After, continue to the newest presidential palace Qasr Al Watan (palace of the nation). The opulent government palace is a working palace that hosts official state visits and summits. During the visit, gain insight into the Arab heritage and UAE’s governing principles that shaped the country’s history. View a vast collection of artifacts along with manuscripts that highlight the Arab world’s contributions to various fields and learn about the nation’s progressive journey.

Dubai is a city that provides a new setting at every turn, richly mixing the old and the new. It’s a city of ages that rises out of the desert and crowns the gulf coast with its presence, a melting pot of culture and modernism. Our tour takes you on a journey that shows you the old and new Dubai. We go through the spice market, fish, fruit & vegetable market and the Gold Souk. On to the Bastakia area to view the traditional wind towers and the old Fahidi Fort, which is today the Dubai History Museum. Experience the traditional way of commuting over the creek –Abra Ride (water taxi) We also will make a stop for photos at the Jumeirah mosque, an architectural landmark in Dubai.

Board a 4X4 vehicle in Abu Dhabi and head out towards the highest sand dunes of the surreal surrounding desert*. Feel the thrill of "dune bashing" as you spiral up and down the enormous golden dunes. Upon reaching the Bedouin campsite, you'll be welcomed with traditional Arabic coffee and will have the option to ride a camel. Then, enjoy a specially prepared barbecue dinner. Later, enjoy a Tanoura dance show, then watch as a captivating belly dancer enchants you with her swirling dances before returning to Dubai.
Approximate tour duration is 6 hours.
*This activity is an off-road experience. Pregnant women, as well as passengers with back problems and other medical conditions should consider whether this optional tour is right for them. Children younger than 8 years old are not permitted to participate in this tour.

Incredible time in Dubai! Did not know how this independent trip would be since we always take guided tours. Our stay in the the Novotel was wonderful, welcoming staff, clean and pleasant facilities, amazing breakfast! We were also happy that there were a few good restaurants, markets and the metro within walking distance. The optional tours were interesting, varied, and reflected the culture of the country. So glad to have booked all of them! The guides were punctual and professional. Needless to say each time we travel with Gate 1 proves to be an adventure. Interesting to note that we went with another couple we met on previous Gate 1 tour. Have recommended Gate 1 to many friends and family. Looking forward to Japan in April.
