Is This Trip Right for You?

This moderately active program covers a good amount of ground each day. Expect from three to four hours walking on some touring days. The pace is moderate, however a majority is over uneven surfaces, stairs, steps and significant slopes. Most wake-up calls are before 7 am. Bus rides to Ankara and Istanbul are approximately 7 to 8 hours. Those who are claustrophobic or have preexisting knee or back conditions may want to avoid visiting the Underground Cities in Cappadocia. Passageways are narrow and may require crouching to navigate.

Our trip was wonderful. The weather cooperated so NO RAIN. Our guide was excellent--very personable and knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Driver was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the itinerary. Having been to Turkey previously, we liked seeing different sites, especially the school and having lunch in a private home.

We had a fabulous time. It is certainly the best trip we have taken for many reasons. I was a little nervous to go because of recent unrest in the country but we are so glad that we went. Ender, our guide, was so informed and spoke in depth about all the sites we visited and we learned so much about the people and their history. He also was very kind and warm and we felt like family by the end of the trip. Gate 1 also went over the top in many respects on our trip; we had a full-size tour bus even though our group was small. Also, on the Bosphorous cruise we had a full ship to tour the sites. The sights were amazing! The Cappadocia balloon ride was breathtaking and the ancient sites that were so well preserved had us believing we were a little Roman, All in all a wonderful and memorable trip.

Thank you! It was beyond my wildest expectations. Our guide, Namik, had an incredible grasp of the history and religion from antiquity to contemporary times. This enriched our experience and enlivened a simple walk down an ancient street cobbled by the Romans or a view of a mother goddess crafted by the Catalhoyuk. Nami also found opportunities to build connection with the culture. For example, enjoying a Turkish quesadilla prepared by mother and daughter on a domed grill over a wood fire, as he interpreted a lively conversation. Or the time we visited the school and later the carpet center. Precious moments with Turkish people between amazing landscapes, history, and photo ops that deepened my own love of the country and the people. All other Gate 1 personnel were equally professional and efficient. I was met promptly at the airport on arrival. The bus driver was both skilled and careful and managed tiny city streets, curving mountain roads, and highways with the same exceptional skill. And upon leaving for home our, transfer was at the hotel just before 3:00 a.m. and took us through the airport to gate security to be sure we got where we were going. All accommodations were excellent and the only problem with the food is that there was too much of it all the time! One thing the hotels could improve upon is the beds. The Legacy Ottoman and the Renaissance both in Istanbul were great. But after that not so much! I was so pleased to see that Gate 1 is still offering a full schedule of the 13 Day Turkish Treasures Tour next spring. I went at a bit of a risky time though US State Dept. had already lowered the risk just before I left. I never felt unsafe or threatened at any time during my stay. I will absolutely take the Eastern Turkey Tour should it ever come to fruition - might even take the Western tour again! I cannot recommend more highly the tour and this particular team. It was the constant support of guide and driver that made the trip so exceptional.

We had an amazing time in Turkey. Now that we are home settling in and continuing to unpack, so many special memories are coming back to us. What an amazing trip. And what amazing people. It truly is a shame to see the hit that their tourism industry is taking right now. I have been recommending everyone I know to check out the Gate 1 Travel Turkey itineraries and not to hesitate to go. The entire time we felt safe and enjoyed every second of this adventure.

The Turkey trip was wonderful, we got to see and do so many things, Turkey is amazing. Sad to see tourism down and being there, there doesn't seem to be a reason for it. We felt very safe everywhere we went, taxi's, metro and walking great distances both at night and during the day. Turkish people are very welcoming and so friendly, we never worried for our safety. Our tour manager was very knowledgeable and shared so much information with us. I definitely would go back, but there are so many places to see in the world. On to the next adventure.

We had an amazing trip! I'm so happy with our guides - Senol (Istanbul) and Panos (Greek Island cruise) were both fantastic. My daughter and I participated in a few organized tours, but primarily investigated on our own. Both Senol and Panos gave excellent restaurant and attraction/sightseeing suggestions, clear travel directions and many helpful hints to make our trip easier. It was a fantastic experience and I am so glad we went. As with our previous travel through Gate 1, I am very satisfied with all of the arrangements and the ease of booking. In spite of the violence in Istanbul, I am recommending this trip to my friends. Best wishes and safe travels to Senol and Panos

Our trip to Turkey was amazing!!!! We are so impressed with Gate 1, and we loved everything about our vacation. A huge congratulations to Metin and our driver "Jason" and the assistant Medgit (I apologize for the spelling!) for providing us with the BEST possible vacation. We could not have asked for friendlier people. The knowledge of all three, especially Metin, and their absolute patience and kindness is something to be marveled at...I wish I could have Metin as my guide for every single vacation we decide to go on next-he was truly remarkable! My husband and I have done nothing but tell people about Gate 1, and what a BEAUTIFUL, hospitable, safe country Turkey is-and we urge them all to travel with your company. Thank you all again for all of your hard work, and to all the behind the scenes people in the offices that don't get enough credit for organizing everything, thank you too!

Our trip was well planned, safe, comfortable, educational and entertaining. I would recommend Turkey's adventure to any one who ever dreamed to see the wonders of Istanbul, who wanted to tour the ancient cities of Troy, Ephesus or Pamphylian, who never lost a desire to experience scenery of the hot springs of Pamukkale or magnificent landscape of Cappadocia from above the ground. Gate 1 helps to make those dreams come true making adventure worthwhile.

Our trip was outstanding! Our tour guide, Metin was extremely knowledgeable and did an excellent job. He really made history come alive and reminded us of all the things we learned years ago. It was so great actually walking through the locations we had read about in the Bible, in history books, and in historical movies and documentaries. The accommodations were great. Everything far exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend this tour of Turkey. This was our 4th tour with Gate 1 and all have been spectacular!

The trip to Turkey was great. Probably among my top 3 international trips. The country is very pretty. And it's rich with wonderful relics and ruins of the ancient world. I can not say enough abut our Tour Guide, Oguz. He was extremely knowledgeable about his country and showed his love of it by sharing it with the group. No matter what question was asked, he knew the answer and was in-depth about the information. He was charming and patient and very organized. Gate 1 could not have a better, more informative guide for Turkey than Oguz.

The Trip to Turkey was so great! Our travel guide Farok was so nice and considerate. He provided us with information about all the Roman Ruins, history of the various people who lived in the region, and answered questions. Turkey is such a great country with free education, low unemployment, and a growing economy. We felt very safe there. We were such a small group of ten that everyone knew each other well and enjoyed the joking. We ate together a great deal because breakfast and dinner was at the 5 star hotels. We enjoyed our our side trips that we purchased. I would recommend this trip with Farok to EVERYONE!

My trip was incredible. Ender, our tour guide, was a fountain of knowledge about the geography and history of Turkey. He delivered the information in a very entertaining manner. He kept us on time, but we never felt rushed Our driver Vidat performed driving maneuvers that seemed impossible. He was awesome. We felt safe with Ender and Vidat. Our group melded almost immediately. We laughed most of the time. Turkey is a land of many ancient and diverse cultures. It's fascinating and beautiful and the people are warm and welcoming. I think it's a must-see for everyone. Gate 1 was so organized that we never felt like we didn't know what was coming next. I thank you for that. I'll be booking another tour with Gate 1.

My 18th trip with Gate 1 did not disappoint. Many tourists are choosing not to travel to Turkey right now due to perceived security issues, but really in this changed world we live in where are you safe? Live your best life as you never know what is going to happen home or abroad - that's my mantra! Our group was small, just 13 people, but absolutely incredible in all ways. Turkey - Anatolia - Asia Minor - whatever you want to call it is a land of history, beauty, kind people and a superb destination. I felt completely safe and secure in all places, whether during the day or the evening. The tour covered 2,200 miles in its exploration around the country, but was well paced, comfortable and full of fantastic sights. They say to see Turkey you need to see Istanbul and the UNESCO world heritage sights of Ephesus, Pamukalle and Cappadocia. We saw them all and so much more! Hotels were uniformly excellent, food was delicious and as always the tour manager and driver were brilliant. The driver Ekrem was very kind and a skilled and safe driver and the tour manager Metin was organized, funny, kind and a treasure trove of historical facts with a unique perspective, having spent some college time on archaeological digs around the country. His delivery of facts and figures was done in a way that made everything interesting. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the capital city Ankara, clean, impressive, majestic and yet cosmopolitan and full of life. All optional tours I took were well worth it - the highlight being the hot air balloon ride in magical Cappadocia - a first class experience from start to finish. Thank you for another wonderful travel experience - on to the next with Gate 1 of course!

Our trip was incredible from the start to the finish. Turkey is a beautiful place with lot if history and very hospitable people. All the hotels were good, food was excellent and all the cities we visited were very interesting. The tour group was small consisting of 8 which made it very close. We were thinking of cancelling because of the situation in Turkey. I am very glad that we did not. We felt safe and didn't feel any danger. Our tour guide Yucel was very very knowledgeable about the history of the country (maybe a history teacher). He was a great guide, very pleasant, and always accommodating. On a daily basis he kept the tour group on a timeline thereby be able to complete all the daily activities that were planned. We highly recommend him to future groups. Our tour driver Sezgen ( I hope I spelled his name correctly ) was very quiet but an incredible driver. We felt very safe with his driving. Concluding I like to say that we had such a great time with Gate 1 tour that I have been recommending my friends and relatives to to try Gate1 if they are planning a trip. Thank you so much for a good trip. If there is anything else I can do to promote Gate 1, please let me know.

It was fantastic. The airline was excellent (especially liked the direct flights), all the hotels were great, and the food there was very good. We saw a lot of ancient sites, Mosques, Palaces, etc. and it was made all the more interesting by our marvelous tour manager Oguz. He took care of our every needs and had an incredible knowledge of Turkish history (kudos also to our driver Duran). We made a lot of friends as every one on the tour got along famously. This was our 4th tour with Gate 1 and I look forward to the next one.

It was a great trip. This was the first time I used Gate 1 Travel, must say they were great at every step of the process including the trip itself. Great hotels, even the minute things like the rest stops to lunch stops were well planed and gave us a good flavor/experience of Turkey. I have already recommended the company to my friends and family.

On behalf of my wife and myself, we would like to express how wonderful our trip was. This trip was our 5th Escorted tour with Gate 1 Travel and it was by far the best one yet. A combination of things came together to make this possible. First, the tour guide Yakut was amazing. His immense knowledge, personality and efforts to make the entire group feel like a family surpassed our expectations. We learned more about Turkey on this trip than we did about any other country on previous trips. Second, it just happened that every person on the tour with us was great. Everyone interacted and by the end of the trip was acting like family. We hadn't experienced that before on other trips. Thirdly, the history and people of Turkey were also amazing. All of these factors came together to make an amazing trip full of friends and memories. We did not allow recent events of crime and terrorism in Turkey deter us from going on this trip and as a result had a wonderful time incident free. We will be traveling on our 6th Gate 1 Trip on May 3rd for a Russian River Cruise. We have no doubt this trip will be just as amazing as the trip to Turkey.

It was incredible!  Turkey is a gorgeous country, so much history, people are super nice and friendly, so much to see.  My only complaint is that some days we spent too much time at certain sites, like Anzac cemetery, some of the ruins, and got to our hotels so late.

Most of our group agreed on that, we stayed in lovely hotels but weren't able to spend much time in the hotel or at the locations. Like Cannakale, it was a beautiful town and we would have liked to walk around and spend a little more time at night but we arrived so late, it was tough to enjoy it.  Luckily, we had more time in Izmir and Antalya to enjoy the cities.

Fati was an excellent tour guide and we had a great group. I've told all my friends about Gate 1 and what an incredible value it is.  All of our group is so impressed with the value of Gate 1 and what a great job you do.  Also, we all LOVED our luncheon with the local families in the little village and our visit to the school.  That is what makes Gate 1 stand out, your ability to connect us with the local people and sites, so we're not simply tourists, we get to interact with the locals!

It was GREAT experience seeing Turkey and her development . Also some of the highlights, Pamukkale Hot Spring and Cappadocia 's natural formations look to me as one of the wonders. Balloon Price is very high so didn't go.

People are living there very HAPPY compare to USA and homeless people 0%. Very clean even cities are populated, not single piece paper find on the street. Most of cities build on hills all the around, surrounded with waters, U can see prosperity in the PEACE?

All stays and hospitality in hotels are Five star or more. Foods buffet style and fresh. Of course not Indian or Asian test but plenty to eat.

Turkey flight and hospitality is great than USA and some of the major flights ,Kind of well coming to Fly and visit Turkey ,again.

Overall we all ENJOYED.

This was our first tour with Gate 1 Travel and our first ever coach tour so we were more than a little concerned about how this would work out, especially the fact that we would be stuck with 30+ strangers for 2 weeks on a fairly rigid itinerary and with some long travel days.

Well, we need not have been concerned as the way this tour was run TOTALLY allayed our concerns and in fact surpassed our expectations.   This will definitely NOT be the last tour with Gate 1 Travel.  The company and especially our INCREDIBLY knowledgeable tour guide, Ender Tan, thought of every little detail, so much so that there is simply not one thing we can fault them for.

The whole trip was smooth, the coach rides comfortable and very entertaining with Ender weaving all the ancient history, religions, cultures, wars, geography and so on into telling the story of Turkey.  We were quite simply blown away.  The sites themselves were of course awe inspiring, but without such an amazing guide to explain it all, it would have remained that - awe inspiring.  Ender elevated our experience to the next level and left us with so much more knowledge and awareness of how it all fit together.  One member of our party said jokingly one day "we should get college credit for this" - it was that good.   Ender has a special quality too - he is calm, never ruffled in any situations, friendly and eagre to let us really get to know his country and the history.  The extraordinary skills of our driver Jason and his assistant Irfan added to making this team "one of a kind".

I LOVED my Turkey adventure! I did not know what to expect and had never taken a group tour before. It was amazing. I was also travelling on my own but everyone was so warm and welcoming.

First, the hotels were well above expectation. Especially in Istanbul, Pammukale, and Ankara. The food was also good. This was simply outstanding value for the length and breadth of the tour.

Second, I found the pacing really good. We didn't see too much or too little in one day. We also covered so much ground from Anzac to Ephesus, Troy, Caravansei, Cappadocia, the Old Town in Istanbul - I cannot believe we traveled 3200 kms and it was so enjoyable.

Third, Orhan, our guide, was terrific. I did not want endless talks. He gave us enough information to enjoy and understand all the sites and then gave us time to explore on our own.. For me it was the perfect way to organize a tour. I found him funny, knowledgeable and accommodating .

Finally, it was wonderful to have my luggage taken care of, everything booked, no waiting lines and all the highlights of Turkey included.

My only suggestion would be to include the tour of Cappadoccia. I would just raise the tour cost and include it. It is so spectacular that I feel the tour MUST include it.

I cannot say enough good things about the tour. I am looking forward to booking another tour with Gate 1 and won't worry about being with a group or travelling solo again.

Wonderful trip.  We loved Greece and Turkey and want to return for more historical touring.  Gate 1 hit on all 8 cylinders as our guides, Chagdas and Yanni, were fun, informative and sensitive to everyone's needs.  It felt like a graduate course in Greek, Roman, Christian and Turkish history, coupled with beautiful hotels, scenery, many new lovely new acquaintances, and delightful local cuisine.  All reservations, meals, tours, events and travel went without a hitch for the full 21 days.  Our 3 day side trip to Santorini was the perfect R&R between the two extensive land tours.

Thanks for your assistance with our 50th Anniversary trip.  It met and exceeded all our expectations.

The trip to Turkey was excellent in all respects.  The itinerary was thougthfully planned and expertly executed.  The accomodations excellent, and the meals were top notch (with specialties noted for each location).   The travel logistics were expertly handled throughout.

Our tour manager and guide, Metin, was outstanding in everyway.  His explanations of the history and culture of Turkey were at the right depth and expertly delivered to bring meaning to the tremendous sights we saw.  He expertly used our bus time to great effect providing background and insight to the culture of Turkey.

All of the optional programs were most worthwhile and added substantially to our experience.  We were told about, and took advantage of, additonal local museums, at our own additional expense, which substantially enriched our experience (e.g. the Harem at the Topkapi Palace)

We will certainly travel with Gate 1 again.

Our Turkey tour was amazing!  Yucel Atik, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and a great guide. The historic places we saw were amazing!

I really appreciated having breaks during our drives - we were able to stretch our legs and had clean restrooms available to us.

We enjoyed visiting the school and talking to the students, who we were told were shy, but were actually very friendly and curious.

The transportation to and from the airport was very convenient.

I definitely would be interested in future tours with Gate 1.

Our trip to Turkey was wonderful in spite of the horrible weather.  Perhaps early spring is not the best time to visit.

Our guide, Mehmet Uzan, is extremely knowledgeable of Turkey and its beautiful diverse history.  He shared his knowledge of each city we visited which made the trip educational as well as very enjoyable.  He was so attentive and helpful to all of us on the tour and even arranged for a birthday cake for one of the tour members on his special day.  Mehmet is an asset for Gate 1.

The bus driver, Sabri, is skillful and considerate which made us all feel very comfortable and safe.

The cities we visited on the tour are fascinating and quite diverse, each offering a unique glimpse of Turkey's ancient history as well as its present life.  I would very much like to tour Turkey again sometime and learn more of its interesting history and colorful culture.

The hotels selected for the tour were clean, comfortable and accommodating. Everyone on the tour seemed to appreciate the nice "up scale" hotels and friendly hospitality each one offered.

We enjoyed our short time in Turkey and look forward to another trip with Gate 1.

Except for the leg trip home, flying from Istanbul to Rome to Atlanta, then San Francisco, it was a great trip. Meri, our guide in Turkey was great.  It was a treat that she studied history so not only did we learned about the culture and people but it was a big plus that she knows so much of the Greek and Roman history.  She left a great impression on gate 1 tour guides and I may very soon, book another tour with gate 1 in the future.

Our trip was a great history lesson with no stress and no exams, and lots of fun. Our guide Aykut was quite remarkable in that he was a fountain of knowledge and detail about the history of a country that goes back to ancient times. He made it understandable and real, not at all tedious and always fun. He also allowed us to see that we have just dipped our toes in the water and must therefore come back. I think Istanbul should be at least two more days. Thank you for a great memory.

The trip was in every way, very well done. We very much enjoyed the tour and regard it as very good value.

Thanks to Namik the tour was both educational and entertaining. We can't imagine a better guide. And of course, no favorable evaluation would be complete without mentioning the excellent smooth and safe driving provided by our driver, Arif (I hope that we got the spelling right). The tour provided a number of challenges to test the skills of anyone maneuvering a large coach in tight spaces, and Arif managed to be so skillful as to make it all look easy. Incidentally, Namik always made a special effort to augment and add to the features and highlights of the tour. That and his very good humor made the tour a special delight.

Though the tour presented the extra challenge of having a number of the members of the tour in need of medical attention, that challenge was met, certainly, again, thanks in part to the extra efforts of Namik, with the attention that resulted in minimal disruption to the enjoyment of the tour, and all recovered nicely (thanks also to the excellent healthcare service provided by the medical care providers in Turkey - we were all very impressed).

Also, we were pleased with your choice of hotels. The hotels and the friendly, helpful staff of the hotels were excellent.

Many thanks to you, your staff, and Namik and Arif for a most enjoyable experience.  Certainly, we hope to be your customers in the future, and we will not hesitate to highly recommend  Gate 1 Travel to others.

I enjoyed the trip very much. Turkey has changed a great deal since I first visited it 25 years ago.  It snowed in Istanbul at the beginning of the trip. I was told it was the worst storm in 30 years.  School was closed for 2 days.  The tour leader Salih was a great tour guide who gave you plenty of information and insight.  Since there were only 17 persons in the group, it was very manageable and all the people in group got along great. The hotels in Istanbul were excellent as well as the hotels in Konya, Canukkale and Ankara. The hotels in Pamukkale and Kusadasi were just okay.

We loved every moment.  Beginning and ending the trip with Turkish airlines they were superb in every detail.  Gate 1 sites, accommodations, tour guide and food was excellent.  The Bosphorus Cruise was icing on the cake at the end of the trip.  We  enjoyed the friendly faces of the Turkish people, the clean restrooms at every stop and the food was delicious.

Our flight was delayed out of JFK for a few hours because of weather in Istanbul.  I left a message at Gate 1 emergency line regarding the estimated time of arrival to Istanbul.   When we arrived that evening in the snow to Istanbul, there was the kindest young man, Emore, with a smile, holding a Gate 1 sign on the edge of the large crowd.  Even though our flight was about 3 hours later than estimated, there he was with a smile, warm greeting and welcome.  At the end of the trip, Emore greeted us at our hotel in the early morning hours, taking us to the airport, seeing us through the Turkish Airlines check-in counter and through security.

Our guide, Metin, was simply excellent. He was very knowledgeable in the areas of Turkish history and most proud of all the magnificent things Turkey has to offer. Metin was very professional in his handling of our group and the endless questions we battered him with.

The trip was marvelous. The pace of the tour was good and the sites visited were interesting. The Gate 1 rep who met us at the airport was helpful, and the one who brought us there at the end of the trip was especially so, guiding us through all the twists and turns of the somewhat chaotic ticketing and security process. Turkish airlines was on time and has better seat pitch and general ambience than most American carriers

A core reason for the high rating of the trip was amazing guide we had. His nickname is Nam. He speaks flawless and idiomatic English and has a great sense of humor. Additionally-and I say this as someone who majored in classics and theology-he has an exceptional command of Greek, Roman, Christian and Moslem history. He made the sites we visited come alive for us. He helped us understand the history and culture of Turkey and of the Muslim faith which nearly all Turks profess. He has wonderful suggestions for restaurants and getting around Istanbul and other cities we visited. I recommend that you sign him to a long-term contract!

Turkey was awesome! This was our eighth trip with Gate 1 and they just keep getting better and better

The country is very safe ,clean and friendly. Our highlights were the balloon ride and the lunch with the local family , trip to the school and all the roman historical sites. Our guide Oguz was super, very professional and had a great sense of humor . The bus driver was an asset to Gate 1, he always had a smile and a helping hand. Our group was one big happy family and we all had a lot of fun and conversations .

Another surprise for us was the internet on the bus ,it made the driving a breeze from one beautiful site to another. All the hotels were upscale and lived up to the 4 and 5 star ratings, food was great also .  We are already planning our next trip with Gate 1 Travel, you folks do live up to your motto MORE OF THE WORLD FOR LESS !

I recommend your company to any one who is a traveler, please feel free to use me as a reference, I would be glad to tell them about all the great trips we have had .

I like his input on Turkey's culture, politics, history (old and contemporary), etc. He provided a lot of facts about Turkey so much that we felt immerse and in love with his country.

Gate 1 delivered what was included in the itinerary and much more.  Hotel choices were good. The experience with the local families and the school was excellent (not seen nor offered by other companies).  Not one detail was left out. The driver was also diligent and professional at all times.

Thanks for making this trip a memorable one!

Our trip was fantastic! I was impressed with Gate 1- excellent service, good pace of activities, nice hotels and a comfortable clean bus, and above all a top notch guide, Mehtin, who looked after us and gave us a superb overview of every facet of this amazing country. Our driver, Recip, also carefully navigated narrow city streets and the open roadways with aplomb.

I commend the professional nature Gate 1 and will be pleased to travel with Gate 1 in the future.

Our trip was wonderful!! Turkey was beautiful and more than we ever expected to see. Gate 1 was efficient and flawless in the organization and management of the trip. Our tour manager, Metin, was the very, very best; without his knowledge, expertise, and personality the experience would never have been so enjoyable. Our driver, Arif, was wonderfully pleasant and definitely made us feel safe and relaxed with his skilled driving ability. The hotels we stayed at were clean and catered to their guests. We were very satisfied and would recommend Gate 1 travel to our friends.

We had a wonderful time in Turkey. Our tour guide, Ender, is like a walking history book. He is so informative, knowledgeable, and attentive to detail! Turkey is truly a beautiful and remarkable country. It's rich culture and profound ancient history is really intriguing and interesting. This is our 1st trip with Gate 1 and definitely will not be our last one!

My wife and I are happy to report that we had an excellent experience. As always, we found Gate 1 to provide a great tour at a very reasonable price. Turkey is a fascinating country and more modern than I anticipated. That said, we were most interested in the many archeological sites and the fascinating museums. We had a very knowledgeable and engaging tour guide and the group we traveled with was one of the best we have ever had.

The Turkish people were very friendly and the food was fantastic. Although it had been raining in Istanbul for about the two week period before we arrived, we had sunny and warm, but not hot days the entire trip. I would highly recommend this tour. We enjoyed all of the optional extra trips and I was very happy that I added the balloon ride in Cappadocia at the last minute. Thank you for your help in making it happen.

It was a truly wonderful trip in every way. Mehmet was a knowledgeable, organized guide. We learned so much about Turkey and also knew that our comfort and safety were well taken care of. He really made the trip a success for us. We enjoyed the accommodations, especially the Burat Lara. Highlights were the visit to the school, the home hosted lunch and the balloon ride in Cappadocia. As soon as we returned home, we started to recommend this trip to others.

The trip totally exceeded my expectations. This was the first large group trip my husband and I had taken and I had prepared myself for disappointment. When we arrived in Istanbul and walked into the room for the pre-trip explanation talk and saw 40 other travelers, we had our doubts. But as we got to know the people, and the routine of the travel, we came to enjoy the personalities and the comfort of traveling by bus. We were surprised at how well traveled everyone on the trip was and the diversity of cultural and religious backgrounds. It amazed me how a large group of strangers could be so friendly and interesting --- no mealtime conversation was ever dull!

We covered 2,300 miles and enjoyed them all. By seeing as many places and sites as we did we soaked in tons of information about the history, geography, culture, political process, and people of this amazing country. My husband was very reluctant to go up in the balloon in Cappadocia, but it was of course one of the highlights of the trip for him. I am so glad we booked all of the optional tours as each was very interesting. I loved meeting the children in the village school. The lunch at the small village in the family home was very nice, but could have been so much more interesting if there had been an interpreter to help us converse with the family members. The hotels in general were very nice with Swissotel being outstanding and the Gulstoy being just ok. Our guide Salih Goy was jovial, knowledgeable and had a wonderful way of managing all of the diverse personality styles in the group. Jason the driver was expert.

Our trip was fabulous!. Our group was a mix of young and old and everyone was friendly, pleasant, and fun. Our guide, Metin, was wonderful! The pace of the tour was great. Metin always gave us very good information on the sites we visited. He also gave us what we were doing each day and when so everyone always knew the schedule.

Excellent! Our guide Serap was wonderful. She was professional, extremely knowledgeable, personable, had a good sense of humor, and was a pleasure to be around. I was especially impressed that she rearranged the balloon activity for the second day in Cappadocia as the first was a no go. That balloon ride was thrilling. I'd recommend it to everyone even those afraid of heights, which I am. The view was magnificent and the flight itself so smooth. I enjoy history and this trip refreshed my memory and surprised me as well. Our driver was excellent too, he was cautious and courteous. Well done Gate 1 Travel!

Turkey was an amazing, fascinating and exhausting trip. Seriously, what a country! I am recommending this trip, with Gate 1, to all my friends. It was top of the line, excellent. Not only was the country a wealth of history, the people were very nice, the accommodations and meals beyond any expectations we had, the traveling itself with our bus, bus driver and helper was easy and comfortable.

The trip was really made a trip of a lifetime by our tour guide, Nesli. Nesli was a wealth of information. There was nothing she could not answer or did not tell us about. She prepped us as we traveled all those miles on the bus, gave us time for a little nap and then continued feeding us information from the moment our feet hit the ground. She was kind and thoughtful and handled every situation with humor and concern. A few of the personal things she did for us was to make sure the bus made stops every few hours, explained money, restroom accommodations, had water on the bus and always made time for personal needs for all on the tour.

Thank you Gate 1 for a life-changing trip, we look forward to our next trip with you.

Our family had a wonderful time in Turkey. The family ties and bonding made the trip invaluable. One of the highlights of our trip was the stop at a small school in Turkey. The disadvantaged school was touching as we take for granted how fortunate we are. Even with the small tokens we brought from home for the students and teachers, we were so moved, we gave a cash donation to the principal for improvement of the school.

We will look forward to planning our next family vacation, hopefully with Gate 1. Just a note, the airlines lost our luggage when we arrived in Istanbul and overall Gate 1 followed up with the airlines and took care of everything.

The trip was wonderful thanks to all your help. Senol was a great guide. We felt he was probably the best guide we had, especially since, he was our guide at all the sites we visited. He was knowledgeable, informative and funny. We even enjoyed the Gate 1 employee who took us to the airport Iksel. He took us to our ticketing area and was sure we were helped before hurrying back for the next group.

The trip was amazing! We had a great time and can't stop raving about it to our friends and family. We had never done a tour before and are more accustomed to exploring on our own, but since we only had 2 weeks to travel, we were impressed with the amount of places we were able to visit.

Dilek was a great tour guide and a pleasure to travel with. She is incredibly knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions we had about history, culture, and politics. She was so organized that we didn't need to worry about any of the technical details along the way, like the hotels, food, etc.

Turkey is a beautiful country and all the sites that were organized by Gate 1 were exceptional and very interesting. We had an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide, his name is Sayet and without him the trip would not have been as interesting. He was very knowledgeable and we were lucky to have him. We also had an excellent bus driver by the name of Saban who really knew how to drive a very large bus through the narrow streets in some of the towns and villages we visited.

All in all a great trip to a beautiful and very interesting country. Everywhere we visited the people were polite and did not push any of their goods onto us. All the restaurants and all the hotels we stayed in were above normal and all the meals that were included on the tour were very good. The food in Turkey is very good no matter where you eat.

I truly recommend Turkey to anyone who is looking for a great vacation and I will certainly tell them to contact Gate 1 Travel for their reservations. Gate 1 is very organized and everything went on without any problems. Thanks again Gate 1.

I can't thank Gate 1 and especially our amazing tour guide Serab enough for an unforgettable trip to Turkey. I wasn't sure what to expect, and how Turkey was going to be, but I was so impressed!

The guide that met us at the airport was extremely helpful and friendly. Answered all our questions, showed us where to go on the map, and helped us with the tram.

Serab is an amazing guide! She is extremely knowledgeable, and explains everything in a very interesting, engaging way! We learned so much from her! She is very friendly, approachable and she made our trip unforgettable! She is an amazing asset to Gate 1, and I hope many more travelers will get her as a guide.

The Turkish trip was fantastic. We were blessed with great weather throughout the trip. The food was good. The itinerary perfectly highlighted all the major sites of Turkey. Our tour guide Ender was excellent. He has exceptional skills for organizing with encyclopedia knowledge of history and places we visited. His ability to schedule had us arriving early at every site before other tours arrived. It was like having a VIP private tour everywhere we went. The only regret was that I didn't book a few extra nights before the tour to ease my jet lag. Last but not least, the great value for the low price is out of this world. Thank you.

It was a really great trip. All of the people in the group were super friendly and I fit into a group that became real friends. The buses were really nice, can't beat Mercedes/Benz for a comfortable, quiet ride, and ours were new.

Our guide Metin was fantastic. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. He gave us so much information as we rode along, information that he didn't have to share, and his personality is absolutely wonderful. The group as a whole gave him an A+ and told him how much he did to make the trip what it was.

Meals were healthy, plentiful and only wish there had been a little more variety and many of the group had more than enough eggplant. All in all, the trip was a big success and a real education. I plan to go with Gate 1 again.

I must say that the tour to Turkey was one of the most enjoyable tours that we have had lately, and we are experienced travellers. The places that we visited were the highlights of Turkey: Cappadocia, Pamucalle are really wonders of nature, the city of Efes and Troy are interesting archeological sites and Istanbul.

The tour manager, Fatih Cokar, was very good , managing the tour very effective without any delay, according to the program, and shows a lot of knowledge on every subject regarding Turkey. The choice of optional tours were very interesting and the hotels and food were of great quality. The bus (new Mercedes) was very comfortable, always very clean including the

What a remarkably enjoyable trip Gate 1 has organized! Our guide, Erdal, was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and thoughtful. His knowledge of Turkish history is astonishing. He has the skills to be lecturing on the university level. What I enjoyed was his ability to present the big picture after providing the factual information. Erdal also carefully kept the group together and on time. He posted the daily departure times by the elevators at the hotels so there was no confusion.

While we only had ten actual days of touring, we travelled approximately 2000 miles and saw six cities, numerous ancient ruins, tours of a carpet factory and a pottery factory. To accomplish this feat, Gate 1 was extremely organized and efficient. We were impressed with their timetable and activities.

This trip is definitely not a relaxed vacation. But if you like experiencing new places and learning about them, this trip will satisfy your curiosity. For our part, we chose to participate in nearly all of the extra activities and benefitted from the guide's extraordinary knowledge. The base price of the trip is very affordable and the optional tours are very reasonable when you consider the entry ticket. We took full advantage of the optional activities and feel that they enriched our experience substantially. We appreciate that was it was set up so that you could choose a very active trip or one that had more free time, whatever your preference, which provided flexibility for the various travelers.

Our recent "Turkish Treasures" trip was absolutely fantastic. We cannot stop talking about what a wonderful and magical trip it was! It was well beyond any of our expectations. We could not believe how each day outdid the day before. We were so amazed at all of the places we visited and the things we saw. It was obvious that it was a carefully planned itinerary. It was evident by places we stopped, the routes we took, the cleanliness of the bathrooms, the hotel accomodations, that everything was so well thought out and organized.

Having the Whisper technology was great, especially when there were lots of other tour groups in the area. We can't say enough about our tour guide Fatih Çokar. He is the Turkish Treasure that made our trip beyond excellent. We were thrilled at the educational aspect of the trip. His humor and shared personal experiences gave it a special touch. He was not just an ordinary

I can't even begin to describe how wonderful the trip was. Turkey is an amazing country and we wish we could have stayed so much longer. The people were wonderful. The history was fascinating and to tell the truth, Turkey was completely different from what I imagined it would be. We always pictured Turkey as dry 'desertie' kind of country and it was in fact lush and green.

We were really lucky to have our guide, Sallih. He never ceased to amaze us with the range of his knowledge, not just about Turkey and its history, but the history of other countries. His sense of humor was terrific and he dealt with the large group on the bus with firm tact when necessary. We were also surprised at the group. We have traveled all over the world, but many of the people in our group made us look like beginners and many of them have traveled with Gate 1 a dozen times or more. We have made at least a couple of lifelong friends on this trip.

We would highly recommend this trip to anyone interested in Turkey and it's history. It was beyond words. We are looking forward to another trip with Gate 1 sometime soon.

I could go on for WEEKS about the fantastic first experience with Gate 1. We had a dedicated driver and guide for the whole trip. Having just the one guide was really nice and made the experience much more personal, as we got to know him better and this also made tipping less complex. Vadat (driver) and Erdal (guide) were absolute professionals and took great care of us.  Erdal is a Turkish treasure in his own right.  The guy filled our brains with so much interesting info, history, facts, cultural, religious and political insights about Turkey. It was clear that Erdal loves his country and loves all the history that goes along with it. He had an answer for every question and backed the info up by going into more detail that explained why things were the way they are. He had a great sense of humor and was patient and thorough.

The optional tours are highly recommended. We could have NEVER planned and executed all that we did on our own for such great pricing. We did every optional on this particular tour except the balloon ride. The tours utilized a Whisper system, where we all were issued receivers/earpieces. Our guide had the transmitter and mic.  This was a wonderful system and allowed our large group to hear everything out at the sites without Erdal having to shout or repeat.

Our bus was new.  Hotels and included meals were great for the most part - some locations could have had more stuff in walking distance.  All hotels offered free wireless internet. I now have the vacation story of a lifetime! Heartfelt tesekkur ederim to Gate 1, Erdal and Vadat!

We had a great time on our Gate 1 trip! It was nice not to have to worry about transportation and booking hotels. Everything was well planned out and the hotels that were chosen were all clean and of a good standard. Turkey is a really amazing country, so rich with history, and our tour guide, Sayat, was perfect for the job. He was very knowledgeable about all the sites that we visited and he made history come alive. We would definitely consider doing another tour with Gate 1.

Another great tour with Gate 1 Travel! I had a fantastic holiday and lovely time in Turkey. From the moment I was met at the airport, to the final farewell of Turkey, everything was terrific. The tour, indeed, was excellent... fabulous in all aspects. The hotels that were booked for the trip were top-notch, and the food was nice. The driver was very helpful, professional and I always felt safe; the guide, Orhan, was interesting to listen to. The group of people I travelled with were all so nice and friendly that it was sad to say goodbye to them. I am already recommending Gate 1 Travel to friends who are thinking about a trip. I loved this tour and I would definitely choose Gate 1 Travel again. Thanks once again for your super service!

Our trip was outstanding. We were so pleased by the service we received from Gate 1. It was great having people there at each exchange point to help us transition to the next place. They were all well informed, helpful, friendly and made our trip hassle-free. The hotel choices were very good in all the locations. Our tour guide, Sayat, was unbelievable. We learned so much from his excellent commentaries as we traveled. We couldn't have been more pleased. Thank you ever so much for all your help.

This trip was great. Turkey is a wonderful place to see history and beauty. The people were so incredibly friendly. Our tour guide, Sayat, was beyond great. He is so informative and entertaining that time seems to fly when we were with him. He represented your company well. This is yet another great trip from Gate 1. The hotels and food were to my satisfaction. For the money, I was very impressed. I will be traveling with you again, for sure!

We really enjoyed the trip and met a lot of nice people from the USA. We saw a lot of Turkey and we were both very impressed with the country and with the tour guide, Ibrahaim, and the driver, Arif. They both did an excellent job in what were difficult conditions and situations at times. We would be happy to look at other Gate 1 tours in the future.

We cannot say enough great things about the Gate 1 Tour to Turkey. WOW! What a trip. My husband and I had a FABULOUS time. The country, the food and the people were out of this world, truly exceptional.

We cannot say enough great things about our Guide (Salih). He was truly wonderful! He kept us all very organized and well informed on the countries customs, etc. He was very good about keeping us all together and giving us plenty of time to shop, sightsee and/or just relax during each tour. We loved the fact that he was not an overwhelming guide, he gave you space, but made himself accessible if you had a question or needed suggestions. He was truly wonderful!

The driver, Jason, and his helper, Irfan, were also wonderful. Jason's driving was truly exceptional. I get motion sickness on buses and I was fine during the whole trip. Irfan was wonderful since he kept us all hydrated, made sure none of us got lost and was a big help with our luggage.

We were very pleased with the way the tour was organized. The cities we visited were great and the sequence of everything made so much sense. The hotels were also very nice (some better than others, but still nice).

This was absolutely the best trip ever. I think I've done 10 or 11 Gate 1 trips altogether, so I'm pretty much an expert on the trips by now.

Our guide's name was Ender and he just made the trip for us. He was fun, very knowledgeable and the most perfect of guides to show us the beautiful country. The other people on the trip were the most agreeable and cohesive group I've ever traveled with. We all bonded from day one and I miss them already. My downfall was the spectacular food and desserts, it was so delicious!

Words cannot express how pleased we were with our Gate 1 trip to Turkey. Everything far exceeded our expectations. The entire experience ran so smoothly and every detail was taken care of. Our guide, ENDER, was the best ever. We feel like we completed a course in Turkish history because of his knowledge and the way in which he presented it.

Our hotels were fabulous and the food so fresh and plentiful. Our rooms were wonderful with very pleasant views, many of them sea and mountain views. I must say that the extra add-on with the hot-air balloon ride over Cappadocia is an experience that should not be missed!! It was the most enjoyable, exciting and adventurous event of our lives. We also added on the Whirling Dervishes and the Bosphorus cruise, also both enjoyable.

I can say that of all the companies we have traveled with on previous occasions, GATE 1 was the best!!

It was OUTSTANDING!! We were lucky with the group of travelers we had on this bus, but our guide, Levente, made it so memorable! He was superb giving us different information every morning on politics, education, finances, culture...Because of him, I will go back to Turkey one day!  And because of him, my future trips will be with Gate 1. I think it says a lot when the majority of the people on the bus with you have taken multiple trips with the same company. Every moment, even down to the rest stops, was planned out for our comfort. He has set a very high bar for all my future trips with Gate 1!! Thank you for the most magical experience!

We had an amazing time in Turkey!  Our guide, Levent, was very professional and knowledgeable and our driver, Hayati, was very good. Both men were very endearing. We shared some great laughs with them. Gate 1 never fails to take good care of its travelers and it is very appreciated. It was a very busy 2 weeks, with many miles to cross through a beautiful mountainous country. The sites were incredible with Ephesus, Pamukkale and Cappadocia being the highlights of our trip. In between were many nice surprises.  This was our second trip with Gate 1 and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

What a Journey! Such an adventure! Turkey has an amazing history. As an American, it was fascinating to visit the ancient ruins and to actually see what it must have been like 2000 years ago, selling wares on the silk road or seeking refuge from political or religious persecution.

Our tour guide, Metin was extremely knowledgeable. I came back and delved into the internet desiring a deeper understanding of the ancient world. Metin and our driver, Recep, definately deserve a loud applause on their abilities as tourist operators. They did an excellent job and our entire entourage was impressed! Thanks Gate 1 for a grand vacation!!!

My Gate 1 tour to Turkey was just as MAGNIFICENT as my past Gate 1 tour to Croatia, Slovenia, and Venice. Once again, Gate 1 has provided an educational, affordable, impressive, and efficient tour for many people to enjoy. In fact, my friends think that I should work for Gate 1, since I'm always talking about it so favorably.

Our guide in Turkey was Mesut. He was absolutely brilliant in regards to his knowledge of Turkey's history, its culture, its economic status and its amazing sites. I learned so much, and I had no idea that Turkey would end up being one of my most favorite countries to visit.

Thank you, Gate 1 and Mesut, for making my trip to Turkey so wonderful. I am an avid traveler, and I am excited to go on many more Gate 1 tours, including the next two tours that I have already booked for this year to both Ireland and Thailand.

We had such an amazing experience in Turkey. This was our first visit there and we reluctantly decided to choose going with a tour (it was the first time and we didn't know what to expect). I'm very happy to say we were very pleasantly surprised with our wonderful, knowledgeable and accommodating guide, Ilhami. We saw and learned so much about this amazing country, had a great cultural and linguistic interpreter as well as liaison, and felt very confident and comfortable with all the arrangements.

As a gay married couple, it's always a little nerve-wracking to join in group activities out of fear of discrimination; I'm happy to say that this was a not an issue. I hope I can continue to spread the word about the great services we experienced from Gate1 travel.

The trip was great. My daughter and I had a wonderful time in Turkey and was amazed by the historical and cultural depth, as well as the natural beauty the country offers. We felt especially thankful for our wonderful guide, Yusuf, who is like an encyclopedia of the country. Under his vivid depiction of each site, it seems the stones came alive from thousands of years ago. We are also deeply impressed by how he handled difficult guests with grace and professionalism. Kudos to Yusuf, a job well done.

This was our first group tour, as we always have rented a car and traveled on our own. As nervous as we were about the idea of travelling with a crowd, it worked well and we really enjoyed it. Serap as our guide; she is a true professional, who tells the story with a human side. The itinerary was quite inclusive and visited the sites we cared about seeing, plus others that we knew nothing about.

Our fellow travelers got along very well and were cooperative andconsiderate of others on the tour. We liked the mandatory seat rotation from one day to the next; we got an opportunity to be in front once in a while, but the people across the aisle were different every day, too - a nice plus. We will most likely be in touch with Gate One in the future to book other tours.

Amazing! Serap was the best guide I have ever had (and I travel a lot). She set the tone for the entire bus: friendly and considerate. Wow, what a trip! I'm still dreaming about the ruins everywhere, and I have got a new appreciation for Turkey, with it's history from the start of the biblical humanity. We also got to try out camel riding, Turkish tea and coffee, water-pipe and lots of delicious food! The trip was planned real well with a variety of activities and not much time to be bored.

The guide, Erkal, was excellent in keeping the group together, we had so much fun! He reminded me of a teacher, when he faced us with the rules the first day (if you are strict the first day as a teacher, it is easier to loosen up later on). He was knowledgeable, interesting and well respected! So I have recommended the trip to all my friends! Turkish Air was also excellent and reminded me of the good old days when we used to have great service on the planes. I will certainly consider another trip with Gate1.

The trip was great, and we really wanted to commend and rave about our guide, Erkal. The bonus was Erkal's extensive knowledge and historical narratives about his country. While a devout Muslim, he knows Christianity and Judaism probably better than most practitioners of those religions. We were not sure what the trip would entail, but it surpassed our expectations. By and large, the hotels were fine, the food was quite good there and the staff was very helpful. We liked the Mosaic very much also. Erkal had the right number of "rest area stops" and food breaks planned. His sense of humor and narration made the long bus rides very pleasant. We also would like to commend Sabri, the bus driver. A very safe driver and so courteous and attentive.

I loved Turkey, and our tour manager, Metin, was absolutely wonderful. Charming, resourceful, knowledgeable and so well organized. Great sense of humor and able to handle a very mixed age and ethnic group. His patience with a couple of members of the group was remarkable! This was one of THE MOST fantastic tours we have taken and we would highly recommend this trip to anyone! We have coordinated several overseas tours for groups of 100-120 people and completely understand what it takes to make a tour exceptional. Our tour guide, Ender, was exceptional in every way!! He taught us about the regions we visited and made the history, religions and tour sites come to life. He was very caring, kind and sensitive to the needs of each and every traveler. He not only helped us to understand the region's past, but he bought current local newspapers (some with opposing viewpoints) to explain what was happening in Turkey so we could have a better understanding local and national issues. He also explained in detail each and every location we visited so we knew exactly what to expect and what to anticipate which really made the tour exceptional.

We were extremely happy with the hotels, buses, and excursions and we signed up for every one of the optional tours. (We wouldn't have wanted to miss any one of them!) We LOVED every minute of this tour and would say that this trip is a MUST for anyone wanting an amazing adventure! This was our third tour with Gate 1 and we are very impressed with the quality and value of each tour we have taken.

This was my first experience with Gate One, and I could not have been more pleased. I have traveled quite extensively, but I have always traveled independently with my husband. This trip I traveled alone. I was so pleasantly surprised by the 20 other people in our tour and their upbeat and friendly attitudes. What made the trip, other than the amazing history and beauty of Turkey, was our guide - Nam. He was enthusiastic, brilliant in his knowledge of the history and culture of Turkey, he had a great ability to compare his country's beliefs and traditions with other countries, world history, current events, but most of all, his absolute love for his country. Our entire group wants to travel with him again to other destinations in Turkey.

As a single traveler, I would not be timid to do so again, as Gate One takes care of everyone and everything, from the hotels to the designated comfort stops, to the restaurants and our other needs and desires. Our driver, "Tiger," was amazing, as he got us 2,200 miles around Turkey in various conditions on roads that varied from mountainous to major highways. What a fabulous trip. There isn't one thing that wasn't first rate. Thank you for an incredible adventure in my life!

Most of all, without question, the icing on the cake, was our tour guide, Salei Goc. He is a SUPERSTAR among tour guides! Teacher, philosopher, humorist, and a fountain of knowledge.

It was fantastic! I want to commend the guide we had- Ender. It was like having a professor of history with us to answer questions. Every day he would put up a map to show where we were going. Then he would give the history of the place and what we should look for. Best of all, he gave us plenty of time to shop. I am a shopper. We had 23 people on our bus. Just the right number to get acquainted and make friends. And we had seat rotation everyday. That meant one person did not "hog" the front seat. It was a very enjoyable trip.

It was incredible. I had a wonderful trip. The itinerary was great and our guide Ender was exceptional. It snowed our first day in Istanbul then was sunny but cold the rest of the trip. Going in the off-season meant no crowds or lines at any of the sites. We could actually look down an empty street in Ephesus. Even with the conflicts along the border with Syria, I never felt uneasy or concerned for my safety. Ender did a great job coordinating every aspect of the trip and he was so knowledgeable about history, religion, architecture, literature, etc. There were several others traveling as a single which was nice. We have traveled extensively and I have even given historic tours in New Jersey. I know the complexity of operating a tour and appreciate the work that goes into each tour. Gate 1 did an outstanding job in planning, organizing and executing this event.

Gate 1 did it again! I've been with good guides on previous trips, very good guides actually, but Nisligül our Turkish guru was the most impressive teacher, organizer, lecturer, all-around marvelous guide I've ever had. The BEST EVER! ...and we take two to three big trips per year.

The 13  Day Turkey Bus Tour far exceeded my/our expectations in every category. We never knew how inviting a tour of Turkey could be. This is definitely a hidden treasure of travel destinations.

The local guide, Serdar, and driver, Arif were flawless professionals in every sense, and we bonded wonderfully with the other 40 travelers.

Gate 1 Travel did a FANTASTIC job designing a great tour and a TREMENDOUS job executing the details. If I knew how great the trip would be, I gladly would have been willing to pay more!

Thanks for the EXCEPTIONAL travel value. The shuttles, luggage handling, excursions, and meals separated this tour from a self-guided tour by making it even more reasonable than many cheaper do-it-yourself trips. MANY THANKS.

This is my third Gate One this year! Your rep in Greece was Panos, one of the funiest, most efficient people on Earth. He even arranged extras for some people, like snorkeling for some in Mykonos, and fishing, burro rides in Santorini, ATV rentals for the adventuresome. He was the best guide I have ever had, and I travel alot. Greece and Turkey too were not only awesome, but an
experience different from any other: a once in a lifetime trip. Kudos to Gate One and Panos.

The trip was wonderful. I filled out your survey but it didn't let me rave about our guide, Ender Tan. He is incredibly knowledgable about all the history and sites we visited but also about everything turkish. He is organized, efficient, and he treated us as if we were family. I enjoyed Turkey and all the places that we visited but it was Ender who made the trip special and memorable.

Your 13 day tour of Turkey was my third tour with Gate 1 Travel. Not having been to Turkey, or read much of its history, I didn't know what to expect. What I found was a modern country with a rich history rooted in multiple religions and civilizations.
Our tour guide Ender Tan is a highly knowledgeable person who provided extensive and highly valuable historical, economic, cultural and religious information related to the numerous cities and archeological sites we visited. On a scale of one to ten, he is a ten for sure.

I'm beginning to detect a pattern here: Outstanding tour guides, great optional tours, dependable drivers, friendly and engaging fellow tourists, and reliable hotels and meals.

Thanks Gate 1 for another super trip. I gotta go, trip # 4 departs in less than two weeks!

The Turkey trip with Gate 1 was marvelous. The hotels, food and our guide, Erdal, were first
class. I was impressed with all the arrangements that went forward without a hitch or hiccup. In addition I hadn't realized what a wonderful archeological area Turkey is. We experienced a lot of history and beauty. This is my second trip with Gate 1 and I will be taking more with them.

I cannot say enough good things about our trip! It was the best cultural excursion I have ever been on, but then, Turkey has a lot to work with. We did much more than we expected, and some days we were pleasantly "worn out" from sight-seeing. Our guide, Serdar, was excellent, and he did a great job of explaining the history and relevance of what we were seeing. At the end of the tour he even reviewed what we had seen. The food and accommodations were very good, too. I will surely investigate more Gate 1 Travel adventures.

Thanks to all of you for the wonderful experience and great value on this trip. Ender was an incredible guide. I'm sure you know how great he is. My husband had studied quite a bit before the trip and had many questions and went rather deep. It was clear that Ender loves and understands the area and history and was a great source of information. We had such a good feeling about him. His kindness, breadth of knowledge and willingness to keep everyone happy was surely a blessing.

The hotels we stayed in were great, we usually cannot afford the 4 and 5 star ones, so to us it was a treat and the meals were wonderful.
We have traveled quite a bit but always have done our own planning until now. We loved this experience and the combination of a planned out itinerary with times of freedom to make our own choices. As we get older we'll probably opt for more such "packaged" tours. Like us, many on this bus had never gone with Gate One before. You will certainly be at the top of our list for our next big vacation.

This was the best Gate1 trip yet!! 5 star accommodations exceeded our expectations. Our guide Salih was just extraordinary. We learned so much about Turkey and enjoyed all of his stories. He really gave us great insight into the country and people, not just dry facts. We enjoyed and appreciated the choice of rest/restaurant stops, and our very small group of just 19 people was like a family. Also, the bus driver and assistant were excellent as well. Can't thank you all enough!

I have nothing but the highest praise for Gate 1. From arrival to walking through security screening on departure we were taken care of. Our guides were incredible. I feel like we received the equivalent of 3 college credits in world history from Ender.

My father and I went on the 13 day Affordable Turkey package tour and it was amazing. I have travelled extensively and lived abroad, and this trip was by all accounts wonderful. Ender, our guide, was the best guide I have ever had. The knowledge he imparted on us was invaluable, and it was apparent that he really enjoyed showing others his country. We learned so much about the history and culture of all the places we visited. Being a teacher myself, I have to say that Ender was a natural when it came to unraveling all the layers of history Turkey possesses to our group in a way that made sense and kept us engaged. I would highly recommend this tour, with Ender as a guide (and his team Arif and Aytekem) to anyone thinking about heading to Turkey. It was a fabulous experience.

It was a whirlwind, but most enjoyable. You folks obviously know the country as well as the psychology of traveling. The hotels were always acceptable, and, in a couple of instances outstanding. The guide, Serap, was in her element in discussing the sites and was unfailingly cheerful and efficient.

We are repeat Gate 1 customers and expect that we will return yet again.

I would like to thank you for having such a wonderful trip available. However, in the present, i would like to emphasize the wonderful job of our tour guide, Oguz.

He is extremely knowledgeable about Turkey's history, its relations with other countries and its tourism. From the first day, he impressed us all with his recounts on Turkey's history and tremendous familiarity with what Turkey has to presently offer. His great sense of humor not only made us all feel comfortable and created a sense of family among our group, but also kept us attentive throughout the whole tour, paying close attention to his lessons on Turkey and his directions regarding the tours for each day. His lessons were so thorough and entertaining that we all wanted to hear more from him, and engaged us in conversations by constantly asking him questions, which he was always able to answer completely adding context to them and making sure we were all satisfied with his responses. He was extremely organized throughout the tours, always giving us precise directions and carrying out all the tasks in a timely manner. He was extremely helpful and accommodating to all our needs, always making sure our ride was comfortable, teaching us Turkish words that would be helpful to us, and letting us know of interesting places we would drive through ahead of time so that we were able to prepare to take pictures of them from inside the bus. We all commented among ourselves how he has been the best tour guide we have ever had because of his professionalism, knowledge and great welcoming personality, which made sure we all had an amazing time throughout our tour, laughing many times and learning very much not only on Turkey's history, but also on each other's experiences.

I'd like to thank you, Gate 1 Travel, for having such a good tour guide and from allowing me to be in his group. I highly think your company is very lucky to have him as a tour guide because many of us commented how previous tour guides we've had with competitors are not as talented and as amicable as Oguz is. I certainly think that anyone who will be in his group will have a wonderful time and will learn very much about Turkey. Therefore, I will recommend Ogus as a tour guide through your company to anyone who is interested in traveling to Turkey.

I could not let this opportunity go without saying that this was one of the best trips I have ever taken. My husband, and usually our two children, are frequent travelers all over the world and the US. Our trip to Turkey proved to be organized, informative, educational and just enjoyable. I thank Gate 1  for hiring one of the best tour guides I have ever experienced. Namik was educated, articulate, patient and charismatic. Everyone on our bus could not get enough of his words and wisdom. Additionally, the Gate 1 level of organization, planned tours, and general structure perfectly met our needs and over met our expectations. We had a wonderful time, in major part because of our guide, Ender. He was not just friendly, but knowledgeable about the sites we visited, the history of the whole country, and all the arrangements we had. He knew everyone's name by the second day and dealt with the few unexpected events (forgotten passport, SNAFUs by the hotels) with speed and diplomacy. I know that he is an independent guide, but Gate 1 should make every effort to use him as often as possible. What a gem he is!

There are no words that can describe the trip!  Everything was beyond perfect, from the pick up at the airport and back.  The tour guide, Salih, was so knowledgeable and full of information, he knew the ins and outs of everything.  He was by far what I expected as a tour guide and we will look to come back to do another one with him! The trip was GREAT.  I just can't tell you how much I love it, it was exactly what I wanted. We walked a lot everyday and we saw a lot. Turkey is just so full of historical sites and of course the nature is beautiful. Our tour guide, Oguz, is excellent.  He is pleasant and professional.  Everyday we learned so much from him. When I visited the beautiful places I started admiring the country.  Oguz even taught us a bit of the Turkish language, in only a few days I could greet the Turkish people. In return were the big wild opened eyes and smiles.  A good tour guide makes the difference.  Mr. Oguz is not just doing a job or thinking how much tips he could get, but he is so passionate that he wants you to know about his country, to see her beauty, to know her history. And of course big thanks to his wonderful schedules and planning. We never had even one traffic jam.  The driver, Sadat, is amazing and the assistant, Ahmet, is wonderful too. The team was just....perfect.

And of course big thanks to Gate 1 Travel.  Everything was smooth and nice. The arrangement was great.  I have already told my relatives and friends about this trip.  You can expect more clients and I have already planned my third trip through you.

We had a "wonderful trip" to Turkey:

-the guide/escort Mesut was caring and knowledgeable.

-the bus driver was careful and always calm and smiling; the bus was a 3 mo old Mercedes Benz and was comfortable.

-hotels were good, all different.

-tour stops were good, learned a lot, and we now have knowledge of Turkey history and culture.

-we cherished the free time.  We enjoyed exploring on our own after Mesut gave us the basic orientation.

-The 12 day trip was just the right length for us, without getting overwhelmed and tired.

-bus group mixed well.  Some people isolated themselves, but on the whole we were "one happy family."

-your hq office staff was always helpful and knowledgeable during my numerous inquires.

A big compliment:  Gate One did an excellent job organizing the trip from deciding on the tour sites to arranging the air flights.  And a big big compliment for your trip price.  My wife and couldn't have afforded it any other way.  We are sold on Gate One and will be looking for other opportunities in the future.

Fabulous!  Our guide, Hakan, and his driver and assistant made the trip the absolute best it could be. I've now traveled to 33 countries, mostly on group tours, and I can say that this was the best organized and most informative tour I've ever been on thanks to Hakan.

Hakan is a true problem solver and genuinely interested in his clients.  We were all amazed at some of the unusual events that occurred and how they were handled.  As my traveling companion said, "If I was stranded on a desert island, I'd want it to be with Hakan!".

The sites were scheduled in an order that increased the "ah ha" factor, the food was uniformly good, the hotels were well located, pit stops were well timed, information was free flowing, all questions were expertly handled, and Hakan and his team made traveling a truly fun experience.  I don't know how anyone could ask more!

In addition, I have some physical impairment that makes climbing steps and walking on uneven surfaces difficult.  Hakan and team were always ready to assist and I was able to do everything on the trip with the exception of the underground city in Cappadoccia.  I had feared that I'd be left behind on many of the excursions but, instead, I was assisted at every turn.

I will definitely travel with Gate 1 again and will highly recommend this company to all of my family and friends who travel regularly.

My trip to Turkey was wonderful.  Pick up to and from the airport couldn't have gone smoother. Our guide, Salih, was fantastic -- funny, intelligent and so knowledgeable about Turkey that I thought I was taking a grad school seminar.  In addition, our driver, Megid, and assistant, Irfan, were professional and courteous.

I would also like to compliment the hotels.  They were all well-maintained, and one was right on the Aegean in Kusadasi. The only drawback was the weather.  Aside from the final 3 days, it was
mostly cloudy and sometimes bitterly cold with rain and even snow.  Oh well, nobody has any control over nature.

If my trips with Gate 1 to India in May and Morocco in October are anything like those to Dubai and Turkey, I'll be more than pleased.  I have to say, you have a loyal client here. Thanks for such a great time.

Turkey was beyond my expectations.  What a country.  The people were friendly and most spoke English which helped us. The food was very good.  I miss my olives and cheese for breakfast.  My daughter and I loved every tour, every side trip and would love to go back someday.  My thanks to Gate 1 for again exceeding the confidence I have while traveling with your company.

The trip was wonderful.  The tour guide, Ender, was very informative about the history of Turkey and he is a very pleasant man, acknowledging everyone by name making the trip more personal.

The weather in Instanbul was not very nice the first day of the trip, but all days after were very pleasant for the time of year.  We had very beautiful weather for a hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia. Will be looking for a trip with Gate1 in the future.

It was sensational from beginning to end !  It really was wonderful all around.  Turkey is such an area of fascination for me and I was thrilled to be able to see it. I've traveled worldwide for many years and this was definitely one of the best destinations. Gate 1 did a great job from hotels, to food to excursions and we will be booking many other trips thru Gate 1 in the future. The trip definitely was a '10' !

I think this was my 4th Gate1 trip and this was the best.  I couldn't believe the value offered.  Practically every day we were offered descent breakfast and dinners.  Some of the hotels were 5 star and
conveniently located, and although the bus ride was long, our guide Serap was able to break it up to make it interesting. Since I didn't get to see everything in the country, I'd like to go back to the Mediterrean area along with Istanbul as we were only there for a short time.

Our tour director, Matin, was very good.  Everything went well and it was a wonderful trip.  We went primarily because it was so affordably priced.  On top of that it was a great trip.  It doesn't get any better to not spend a lot of money on a vacation and then have such a good time.  During the trip one of the ladies on the trip complained because the hotel didn't have wash clothes.  Somebody else said that if that was her only complaint then it had to be a pretty good trip.  Then we all laughed.  That is exactly how I felt.  If the only thing we didn't like was something as unimportant as a wash cloth then it was a pretty good trip!  I would like to travel with Gate 1 again.

It was great! My three friends thought so, too. We met lots of fun people. Everyone on the trip was fun to be with. Our tour guide, Hakan, was really good. He was so interesting and informative and had a great sense of humor. Even our bus driver and the assistant, George, were excellent. Driving over 2000 miles we really got a feel of the topography and people of Turkey. All the food, hotels, and optional tours were even better than what I expected. After traveling with Gate 1 before I knew I would be pleased. Hakan went beyond the job description to please us all and made the trip wonderful and I will have many great memories and pictures. My friend Becky and I did the balloon ride in Cappadocia and it was amazing, well worth the money. I would tell everyone to experience it. Turkey was much more advanced and progressive than I thought it would be. Very much like the USA. I think most people think it is a third world country. Not so at all. Thanks for all your help.

The trip to Turkey was amazing! The Turkish people were over-the-top nice and the food was wonderful. Serap, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and fun and GREAT at keeping us on schedule. Her assistant, Murat, and our driver, were adorably sweet, conscientious, and helpful. All-in-all, a great trip. Crossed the Dardanelles, sailed the Bosporus, and saw Cappadocia from a hot air balloon. Loved every minute of it. I've NEVER had a bad Gate 1 experience! You sent us to Croatia and Slovenia a few years ago as well as to Sicily. And you're sending me (and 3 gal pals) to Amsterdam early next year. Look out, Amsterdam! All the best and my greatest THANKS to the Gate 1 staff!!!

The guided tour in Turkey was very well organized and ran mainly because of our guide Ms. Leyla. She took care of everybody in our group, her knowledge of the country and history is above any expectations. She deserves the highest mark of professionalism and human quality. After that last trip we definitely look forward for the next one with Gate 1 Travel.

We had a very enjoyable, safe trip. I also want to commend Miss. Leyla, our tour guide, and Mr. Arif, our bus driver . Leyla is a very professional, well informed person. Always on time, caring, easy going, and very proud of her country, we felt very welcomed. Mr. Arif as well, very professional and courteous, and a very, very good driver: You have a team that is an asset to your company. Once again thanks, and for our future travels, be sure that we will retain your services.

Donna and I had a great trip. Our guide, Ender, was superb, well organized and had us in the starting blocks early each day. Most of the folks in our group of 37 were seasoned travelers and several repeat Gate 1 customers. The comments from the group were nearly unanimous regarding the high quality of Gate 1 trips for the cost. We agreed.

We had the most fantastic time! Our guide and bus mates were so much fun. We saw so many amazing things and really enjoyed the people, the cuisine, the sights, the weather, the shopping, etc. Thank you so much for all of your help. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to take a Gate 1 trip again.

The trip was fantastic, more than I ever expected. Our tour guide was outstanding, Dilek, was the best guide that we have had in our three trips with Gate 1. She holds two master degrees with one in archeology. She was able to give us a in depth review of Turkey and the empires and religions that flourished in Turkey over the centuries. She gave us an insight to the various religions that have influenced Turkey.

Dilek was well organized, paid attention to the smallest details, and the tour operated smoothly. Looking forward

We had a wonderful trip. I can't say enough about how great our guide, Sedar, was. The hotels we stayed at were great and the things we saw were terrific. The itinerary that was set up covered quite a bit. I feel we saw some of the best things that could be seen in Turkey.

Our tour of Turkey was indeed wonderful and Mary Anne and I were very fortunate to have Serdar as our guide. He was excellent guiding us through Turkey's great history and everyone in Serdar's bus had fun. I would definitely return to Turkey, as well as Jordan. We enjoyed the hot-air balloon ride and the 3 mile hike over Cappadocia going through the underground tunnels; we never knew the early Christians lived underground to hide from persecution. We enjoyed the spa at the 15th century Haman by architect Sidan; the leather fashion show was very professional - I purchased a coat; and I loved the visit to a famous carpet factory learning about the dyes, silk-worms, and different weaving styles (Mary bought a carpet). All of the hotel reservations and services were excellent. We easily took the Istanbul public Tram to visit to the Blue Mosque, St. Sophia, and Topkapi Palace and had easy access to super markets. We loved having easy access from the hotel to the beautiful Aegean Sea. We loved the visit to Canakkale, a place alive during Trojan times, and also to Pamukkale, where it was fabulous to see that mysterious volcano at a distance. It was fun to try and figure out a way out of the Istanbul bazaar or spice market and one of my highlights was the visit to Virgin Mary's cute home; St. John did a fine job building her home. I now have a collection of so many photos of Roman ruins, ancient cemeteries, theaters, Corinthian columns, baths, plaza, libraries. I would recommend the Turkish Treasures to anyone. As a matter of fact, I work with someone who also has toured with Gate 1 and he is asking me about my recent journey - I will gladly tell him to book with Gate 1.

Excellent trip! Tour directors in all locations -- Istanbul, cruise ship, Athens -- handled all details in a timely, professional manner. Accommodations in both cities were well-located to take advantage of public transportation. The pace was perfect. I could do as much or as little as I wanted, particularly on the cruise ship. Another outstanding vacation value. I continue to tell others about Gate 1 Travel!

It was wonderful, just what we have come to expect out of Gate 1. Our tour guide, Sahli, was absolutely wonderful. The only sour note, and minor at that, was not enough time in Ankara to see the capital of Turkey. But everything was wonderful. We went on the Ephesus tour, and were not disappointed. Thanks, Gate 1. Already thinking of where to go next year!

Our trip to Istanbul, the Greek Islands and Athens was without a doubt the most fantastic trip ever. The personal attention that shipboard staff gave us, including the Captain of the ship, was amazing. I would recommend Louis cruise line, especially our ship the Cristal, to everyone. Our cabin was spacious, clean and very well kept by housekeeping. Our deck steward checked in on us every day to make sure we were happy and our needs met. He personally made sure my husband's dinner jacket was pressed in time for the Captain's dinner. Food was delicious and served with style. We live in the buffet kingdom of the world, Las Vegas, and the Cristal's buffet could match Las Vegas any time. I must include our Gate 1 representative on board, Adriana. She was fantastic! Our shore excursions was effortless with her capable handling of procedures. Her cheerful attitude and personality made everything so easy. I hope she stays with us if she ever comes to Las Vegas so that we can return the hospitality she showed us. I could go on and on, but will end with THANK YOU, Gate 1 for a memorable experience. We look forward to our next trip thru Gate 1.

The Gate 1 Travel tour to Turkey was outstanding. In addition to the excellent tours, the hotel accommodations were first class. Our tour guide, Salih Gok, gave us an incredible insight into "The Land of the Turks". Salih is a modern Renaissance man who is a Mentor, Philosopher, Modern and Ancient History Scholar, Political and Social Scientist, Economist and, hopefully, a friend forever. We will remember him as "one of our favorite teachers" who made a 21st century country with a magnificent and ancient history come alive. We were truly blessed to have him come into our lives. You are truly blessed to have him representing your organization

After a some what rocky start, due to such things as missing flights because of the volcano, and lost luggage (which was found before the cruise), I had a great time. The weather was beautiful for the whole trip and getting off in Santorini went very smooth, as did all the planning for the trip. I would definitely use Gate 1 again, and refer all my friends. I think the biggest plus was, after getting into Athens 9 hours late, to see somebody waiting with a Gate 1 sign for two very tired old ladies. Thanks again for a great trip. Greece and Turkey are extraordinary.

Turkey was great. Our tour guide, "Dee", just as wonderful and had excellent command of both her country and ours. She was able to answer all of our questions about Turkey and its history, people, religion and politics in depth.

The hotels were great and the buffet lunches and dinners were wonderful. We made many friends from our group of 40.

I will use Gate 1 and again and will recommend to others. I really appreciated the reasonable cancellation insurance as a peace of mind.

I had the most wonderful trip ever in my 20 years of travel, in terms of the services I got from the tour escort, driver, help, the type of accommodations and meals. I really would like to put in a few words of praise for our escort, Aynur, as she is the best tour escort I have ever encountered in my travel, in terms of her knowledge of Turkish history, culture, geography, politics, and her willingness and total effort to share with us. With her leading the group, everything went so smoothly with not a single glitch. I would also like to thank Gate 1 for getting such a good deal for us. We stayed in beautiful hotels and had most dinners covered. I really don't know how Gate 1 did it and it's the best value I ever got from my 20 years of travel. I will recommend Gate 1 to anyone who would like to travel.

We just loved our trip. It was easier than we imagined to live out of our suitcases. We soon bonded with the people on our trip, as they were a congenial group. We all loved our guide, Metin Engiz,as he was wonderful and his knowledge of the country and history were beyond compare. We enjoyed his sense of humor, his talks, and his stories entertained and enlightened us. He was the reason that we enjoyed the trip so much. I should also mention the bus driver, a very skillful driver, which allowed us to relax and to enjoy the many attractions of the places to which he drove us.

The Turkey trip was the trip of a lifetime. Cappadocia is the jewel of Turkey and it is an experience that we'll never forget. Istanbul was also fabulous with its Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Hippodrome, Grand Bazaar, Spice Market, underground cistern and boat ride down the Bosphorus.

We also loved our resort hotel in Kusadasi located right on the Aegean Sea. The Pamukkale also offered spectacular sights of white rivers and white cotton castles. Ankara, the modern capital of Turkey, also gave us a new understanding of Kemal Ataturk, founder of the Turkish Republic. We returned from our trip feeling that we are indeed ambassadors for Turkey. Thank you for providing this opportunity to see "more of the world for less!"

I can't begin to tell you how good the trip was. The guide, Mehmet Uzan, was fabulous. He knew the hotels, rest stops for the bus, the detailed history, and made every effort to answer questions. He was by far the best tour guide we have ever seen.

The tour bus was comfortable. The driver, Vedat, was courteous, professional, and very experienced. Additionally, the driver's helper, Murat, helped people off the bus, got everyone water, washed the bus at stops, removed and loaded luggage quickly, and cleaned the bus thoroughly every night with all smiles. The hotels were also all very nice. Each had wi-fi and the fact that breakfast and dinner was included at almost every stop was necessary, as we frequently had long days on the road to see the Turkish delights. Gate 1 has done a good job putting together the 13 day tour. The days were busy, the sights non-stop, and time was not wasted. This is our 3rd Gate 1 tour, and we loved it! We continue to tell our friends about Gate 1!

We loved every single bit of the trip. Our tour guide, Aynur, was really great. Not only was she funny, nice and personable but she was like a "walking encyclopedia." There was hardly a question she couldn't answer and our time on the bus always went by quickly, due in part, to her very interesting lectures. The sights were absolutely amazing! We had perfect weather, with not even a drop of rain the entire time! The hotels far exceeded my expectations and the itinerary was just wonderful with everything perfectly orchestrated. The 13 days went by so fast! We didn't have any problems at all. I will never forget what a super time we had and what a great place Turkey is.
