Holland America Registration Process


Holland America Line (HAL) requires each guest to complete online check-in up to 72 hours before your sailing date. We recommend checking in at your earliest convenience to take advantage of browsing and booking onboard experiences and shore excursions. Additionally, we advise creating an account with HAL, as without it, you won’t have the benefits of accessing your documents through the mobile app or the ability to pre-arrange shore excursions or drink packages. 

You will need the following information: HAL Booking Number (this is your confirmation number that is located on your Gate 1 Travel invoice), passport information, emergency contact name and phone number, and a credit card for the Onboard Expense Account. 

Creating an account with HAL: To create an account, click here. Then click on ‘Login’ and select ‘Registration’. Complete the registration form using the information as it appears on your passport. Alternatively, you can download the HAL Navigator APP on your phone. 

To check-in from your account with HAL: Once you are logged into your account, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on ‘Check In’. If your booking is not listed, enter your confirmation number in the Booking Number. You will be taken to the check-in portal with your cruise information.  Once each section is complete, you will see the approximate date of when your Express Docs will be available to print. Please note: It may take up to 48 hours for your booking to appear on your HAL account. 

To check-in without creating an account: If you prefer to check-in without creating an account, click on ‘Login’ and fill in the information under ‘Log In With Booking Number’. However, please note that without creating an account with HAL, your documents cannot be accessed through the mobile app, and you will not be able to pre-arrange shore excursions or drink packages. 

How to book shore excursions or specialty dining reservations (available up to 4 days from sailing): Login to your HAL account and select ‘My Bookings’. Once you have completed check-in, you can search for the shore excursions you would like to book, Spa reservations, beverage Packages, gifts and indulgences or book specialty dining reservations. Once you confirm the item(s) you wish to book, your credit card will be charged, and the activity will be added to your itinerary. Alternatively, these can also be booked via the HAL Navigator App. 

Holland America Line Travel Documents: Express Docs, which include your boarding pass, become available starting 15 days prior to your cruise. However, please note that the boarding pass will not feature a necessary barcode until 7 days prior to boarding. Therefore, we advise waiting until this timeframe before printing your Express Docs. Express Docs are available through your HAL account, HAL mobile app, or you can select for the documents to be emailed to you.   

Entry Requirements for Shore Excursions: U.S. passport holders are not required to obtain a visa or complete any health forms for their shore excursions. Non-U.S. citizens should check with the appropriate foreign consular representatives. For more information about passport and visa requirements for traveling with HAL, please click here.

Non-US Passport Holders: Travelers who are residents of countries currently under U.S. sanction are unable to book with Holland America. Countries currently sanctioned include Russia, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and occupied territories of Ukraine (Crimea, Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.)
