The Deal

Arrive in Phoenix, with its captivating desert setting, and spend the evening at leisure, perhaps by visiting the colorful Old Town with its lively restaurants, shops and cafes. Cross the border at Nogales into Mexico, and stop in the small town of Santa Ana and the cosmopolitan city of Hermosillo, before arriving in San Carlos, a fishing village and resort community known for its crystal-clear warm waters and beautiful sunsets. Here, enjoy a festive Mexican-style Reception and dinner.

Board a private boat for a scenic cruise on the shimmering Sea of Cortez, with a chance to see turtles, pelicans, dolphins, or even sea lions. Tour the Guaymas Pearl Farm, the first cultured pearl farm in the Americas, before traveling to the quaint old silver town of Alamos, a designated National Monument. Next, journey into the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains to picturesque El Fuerte, the "Gateway to the Copper Canyon". With time at leisure, explore this beautiful small city with its attractive central plaza studded with palm trees, before enjoying a performance of traditional folkloric and native dances followed by a dinner of local favorites.

Board a railcar and travel on the Chihuahua al Pacífico Railroad, considered one of the most dramatic railway journeys in the Western Hemisphere. A “train ride in the sky” takes you into the Copper Canyon, four times the size of the Grand Canyon. Disembark in Posada Barrancas, and meet the reclusive Tarahumara Indians, a semi-nomadic tribe, whose ancestors lived for generations in the canyon's caves. Embark on an Aerial Tramway, traveling across the canyon and descending almost 4,500 feet into the center to experience its grandeur, a truly breathtaking experience. Plus, spend time exploring this dramatic area, one of the greatest undiscovered natural treasures of North America.

Continue on to the bustling city of Nuevo Casas Grandes for a demonstration of Mata Ortiz Pottery, one of the finest and most innovative ceramics in the world. Lastly, discover Mexico's famous Archaeological Site of Paquime, undoubtedly the most important ruins in Northern Mexico. View the maze-like adobe remnants and the ceremonial mounds, walk by the House of the Cross and the House of the Serpent, and drive through parts of the Chihuahua Desert, the largest in North America.
