Fantastic!!! This was our first "Discovery" tour and it was amazing. Alice, our tour manager, was one of the best we've had with Gate1 - being organized, well informed about the sights, professional, respectful, friendly and fun! Giuseppe, our driver was thoughtful, helpful and kept us safe on the road always. It's difficult to recall all the amazing towns, villages and sights as we saw so much in such a short period of time. The fact that this tour concentrated on lesser known sights/towns meant a wonderful surprise awaited us each day. We would highly recommend this trip, especially if Alice and Giuseppe are in charge.

Although I have enjoyed every tour manager I have had previously, I must say that Andrea was the best of all. His warm personality and sense of humor made this trip to Sicily very special. He was organized and attentive to every detail necessary to make things run smoothly. Our group was quite cohesive because of Andrea's calm and helpful manner. His love for his country definitely made us love it as well.

Fantastic trip! Our tour guide Lorana was so bubbly, knowledgeable and fun. I was afraid I would be disappointed after having Nick for the tour guide before this trip beings I was doing a back to back trip. She was no disappoint but a joy to be with. I did miss having the hands on things I had on the prior trip, but I did get to make pesto. Great group of clients on both trips. She made you feel special and what great humor she had. She was very sincere asking if we needed anything and if we were happy with our rooms. She made it her priority to make us happy. Only wish we had more time shopping, especially at the Cinque Terre. Would loved to have had more time at each village shopping. When stores are small and lots of people it takes time. No complaints only kudos..... great tour guide, amazing hotels & great food and tours.

We would like to take this opportunity to sing the praises of our Sicilian/Malta guide Maurizio. My husband and I have traveled extensively and have had many good guides. But we can say with all sincerity Maurizio is one of the best. Beyond his knowledge and organizational skills he was so at ease with the members of our group right from the start. His sense of humor was endearing which affected all aspects of our days. He was generous with his time and liked to give us little surprises on a regular basis. We will never forget him or our trip.

Our trip far exceeded our expectations in large part due to our tour manager. In addition to creating a great group spirit, keeping us on time, making sure our questions were answered, being flexible (ex: making adjustments to benefit all), and giving us local tips, Giuseppe provided many interesting additional facts and background information that helped us further appreciate Italy as a country, as well as the areas we visited. Our driver was great, too! Thanks for a truly extraordinary experience!

Our recent Discovery tour to Sicily and Malta was excellent due primarily to the efforts of our tour Manager, Mauricio. Together with our bus driver, Enzo and our local guide in Malta, Tracey, they managed every detail to create the best tour we have taken across the last five years. I don't think Maurizio could have managed the details any better while assuring a safe, educational, and fun tour. The standard Maurizio set for individual care should be a benchmark for your Tour Business for all guides.

The trip was great. Our best one yet! I think this was our 9th tour with Gate 1 and we loved it. Our tour manager, Francisco was the best-so knowledgeable, caring and interesting. He went out of his way to make it a great time for everyone.

Very nice, very good itinerary, very good food, our tour manager Francesco is excellent, he's the best, I've been traveling since 1987, to many travel companies, he's the best, I recommend promotion and salary raise for him. He took care of us from the very first day to our last day! He did an exceptional job.

We enjoyed everything about our recent food and wine tour of the piedmont in Italy, but especially the pesto making event in Rapallo! The shop owners were very generous with their time and expertise! The prosecco tasting and lunch at Merotto was out of this world! The food and wine were great, and the dining room and tour guide were top notch! Thank you!

I just want to say that the itinerary that Ignazio managed was one of the best overall we have had in all our trips with Gate1 (over 20). Most Tour Managers are very good, but the trip does not flow very well. This Discovery trip to Sicily and Malta was seamless, we went from one event or place with ease. I will recommend this trip highly to anyone wishing to see a small, fascinating part of Europe without spending time waiting in lines at venues.

Maurizio was a pleasure. He handled everything, was organized and personable. Would travel with him again. The bus driver Enso was the best. Took good care of us. We enjoyed this trip and the variety of local tours provided as well as free time. Gate 1 Discovery is the only way we travel. Have several more booked for 2026 and one in 2027. Keep the options coming.

I just wanted to take an extra minute to say how wonderful our tour guide, Riccardo was for our Food and Wine Tour of Italy. He had so much knowledge and was so very helpful in many situations. He was humorous, too, and our entire group loved him. This was our first Discovery Tour, and we were happy we were our guide. We love Gate1.

Our Sicily/Malta Tour was simply amazing! Having now experienced back-to-back Italy tours through Gate 1, both Classic and Discovery packages, we are fairly certain that Gate1 is our permanent choice for travel. We would like to congratulate Marisa, our tour guide/manager for the excellent job she did in keeping our group of 22 historically informed and safe with every venue we visited. We particularly enjoyed the delicious cuisine and abundant beverages provided to our group and the transportation ease provided by competent drivers. We also would like to thank Gate 1 for selecting hotels that are strategically located within walking distances to incredible restaurants or scenic views and the many surprises that Discovery tours provide. We are already planning our next small group tour!

My very special thank you and appreciate to our tour manager Giuseppe. He made us to see Sicily & Malta by his eyes, to love this part of Italy as much as he loves it. He showed us the hidden gems of Sicily, introduced delicious food, made our trip unforgettable.

The trip was amazing. The itinerary and hotels were all planned with thought and excellent coordination. Extra shoutout to our tour guide, Igor who shared his knowledge and guidance all while being compassionate and thoughtful. A true gem. (and the bus drivers too were all skilled and excellent drivers). Sicily and Malta are both beautiful with magnificent views, amazingly rich history, delicious food and warm people. I especially appreciated and enjoyed the wonderful home cooked meals at the multiple farms and vineyards that we visited. A treasured bonus that adds immensely to the experience- oh, and the cooking class! So much fun and created wonderful memories for us all. Thank you for your coordination and follow-through and for being part of a well-organized and great company!

What an incredible trip-the food, the wines, the many World Heritage sites, the prefect fall weather, the good pace and surprises. An unexpected dinner at an organic herb farm overlooking the Mediterranean. Fresh cannoli made from the nun's recipe at an impressive convent. Our tour guide Giuseppe was the perfect combination of local experience (childhood friends with the nobility who invited us to their palace in Ragusa!) and professionalism-one of the best I have had as a guide on my many tours. Sicily, and Malta, are a less crowded alternative to mainland Italy, the background history of the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Spanish and finally Italians give the trip a multicultural flair. And an early morning climb up Mt Etna followed by a walk along the seaside in Taormina. That you won't find amongst the crowds swarming Rome!

We have enjoyed a dozen Gate1 Trips. This one is at the top of our list. Suzy was an amazing guide. She was attentive, organized and very informative. She has a positive personality and is very approachable. We loved the chance to see off-the-beaten path sites and stay in beautiful hotels. The culinary portions of the tour were delightful, too! What a wonderful chance to visit farms and see where foods come from and how they're made. This is the perfect trip for those who have seen the major sites and are looking for a unique side of Italy.

The Piedmont Italy trip was wonderful. Our tour director, Nicoletta , was amazing...full of current and historical information all of which was fascinating. We really saw so much of the countryside and many cities in such a short time. Hotels were all special, and the food tastings, wine tastings, many meals all fabulous. I thought the pacing of the trip was even and very manageable. And our main bus driver was so polite, friendly, and helpful...which also adds to the positive feeling of the trip. Again, Nicolletta worked hard to take care of every detail, large and small...all very much appreciated. I just enjoyed the trip from beginning to end! Thank you for making this happen.

Our trip to Italy was fantastic. Our tour director, Mercedes, was phenomenal. Everything about the trip was better than our expectations. We made lots of new friends and everyone got along so well it made the trip very enjoyable. The hotels were fantastic and the excursions were wonderful with amazing local guides. This was our first Gate 1 trip but I can promise you it will not be our last. I can't say enough great things about this trip!

My husband John and I were recently on the Sicily/Malta tour from around Sept. 5-19, 2024. Our guide was Maurizio. I just wanted to express what a wonderful guide Maurizio was. He was quite possibly the best guide we've ever had, of all our 40 or so tours that we've done with various companies. His personality and knowledge were both outstanding. He really made each individual person feel special and important on the trip. He was so organized and knowledgeable, and very approachable as well. I just can't say enough about how much we enjoyed his tour, and all he did to make it a special trip. We have always had great guides with Gate 1, and we'll continue to book our trips with your company. But Maurizio was outstanding. So, I just wanted to give an extra shout out to him.

I have been intrigued by this trip and itinerary for some time and finally got to travel on it. I know why it is always sold out. While it showcases food and wine in a totally fantastic way it also has a good blend of sightseeing options to see and understand the history and archeology and culture of the areas we are visiting. Guiliana is a fantastic tour manager. I have done many trips with Gate 1 and I will say that she is one of the best. Passionate about what we'll be seeing and tasting and well organized, setting expectations perfectly. This is one of the highlight trips that I have taken with Gate1. I hope to continue to build upon this foundation as I continue traveling.

14 Day Discover Sicily & Malta, September 2024

I wanted to give some additional feedback from our tour from Sicily and Malta. We have been on 12 tours with Gate 1 and we have always had an amazing time. Each country has its own charm and Gate 1 truly dedicates time and effort in finding the best itinerary for the people. We continue to come back to Gate1 because of the great offers and how things are curated. One of the biggest parts is the tour guides. Gate 1 always selects the most knowledgeable tour guides and it just makes use come back and back. However, it really is worth separating all of the amazing tour guides that we have had and truly highlight Marisa. Words cannot express enough how amazing this tour guide was. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable, she communicated with everyone in a way that everyone cared, respected each other, paid attention to everything she said. She treated everyone like a family, would constantly make sure everyone was happy, charismatic, had empathy, she was patient with the group, very organized, passionate of the country so it felt more enthusiastic, she had an amazing sense of humor, but always professional. Although Gate 1 has top notch tour guides Marisa really deserves to be in the top ones. I would return to all Italy, Sardinia and Corsica, and other places with Marisa as our tour guide. Just great!
