Discover the highlights of Porto on a guided city tour. Begin with a walk through the historic center and along the elegant Avenida dos Aliados, lined with impressive architecture and offering views of the Clérigos Tower. Continue to São Bento Railway Station, renowned for its magnificent collection of over 20,000 blue-and-white azulejo tiles illustrating important moments in Portuguese history. Head up to Porto Cathedral, a Romanesque landmark perched on one of the city's highest points, where sweeping views over Port await. Proceed to the Fernandina Wall before concluding the tour by crossing the Dom Luis I Bride to Vila Nova de Gaia. Visit a traditional port wine cellar to learn about the craftsmanship behind Portugal's famous port wine, from aging and blending techniques to bottling, and enjoy a tasting of three varieties of port wine. At the end of the tour, guests will receive a voucher for an optional Six Bridges Cruise along the Douro River. Please note that the cruise is not included in the tour price and is available as an optional add-on.

Visit one of the most beautiful regions of Portugal. Travel from Lisbon towards Sintra where you will visit the National Palace of Sintra, an 15th century royal residence containing one of the largest tile collections in Portugal. Explore the historic center of Sintra before heading to Cabo da Roca* (the most western point of Europe) and continue along the coast, driving pass the famous Guincho beach, and the magnificent panorama of the Bay of Cascais and its coast. On the return, drive past Estoril where stands the famous Casino do Estoril.
*From November through February Hell's Mouth "Boca do Inferno" will be visited instead of Cabo da Roca.
Departs from Eduardo VII park in Marquês de Pombal, Alameda Edgar Cardoso, 1070-051. Please arrive 15 min prior to departure. Drop-off at Park Eduardo VII in city center. Approximate tour duration is 5 hours. Expect 3 hours of walking as well as considerable time standing.

I have nothing but high praise for our excursion guide, Hugo. He was friendly, entertaining and knew his stuff. Even though we had multiple stops, I never felt rushed to move onto the next stop. When told one of our group was nearly deaf, he took great care to speak so she could hear him. I also appreciated the fact that he did not feel the need to talk nonstop, he allowed us to be in awe of the beautiful scenery. One of our excursions we had Max, also a very good guide. Both Hugo and Max made our trip so enjoyable!

This independent trip was one of your best. Hotel Marina Atlantic was located in one of the best areas of Ponta Del Garda convenient to the waterfront and area shops and restaurants. The optional trips (3) allowed us to visit all the important areas of the island. Hugo, our tour guide for the 3 days was extremely knowledgeable and personal. Thanks Gate 1, you did it again on our 28th trip.

Despite the terrible weather (due to a huge storm that hovered for most of 4 days) we had an amazing time. The airport transfers were smooth. The hotel was well located and very comfortable. Breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. We had 3 twin beds, which was perfect. The jeep excursions were all on time, expertly led by friendly local guides and unique opportunities to experience their beautiful island and Azorean foods for lunch. The pineapple and tea plantations were amazing. Flowers all over the island were lovely. The black sandy beaches were so different. House boats on the water looked like fun - but not during the storm we had. Since this trip was unescorted and the weather was colder than usual with strong winds and rain, we took advantage of many sites in the city. The sidewalks all have inlaid tile patterns. Due to the high seas, we did not get to do the whale watching boat ride unfortunately. We visited the privately-owned Botanical Gardens in the heart of Ponte Delgado. The trees, flowers and layout were beautiful with signs telling how these specimens had been brought to the Azores from around the world over the years. We also visited the military fort and museum on the waterfront which includes so many weapons, uniforms, radios and military history. Then we toured the Natural History Museum connected to a convent - very unusual and interesting. It covered all the animals on land, sea and air. All the prices were very reasonable for food and activities. We found wonderful restaurants for dinner in town with other Gate 1 guests.

It was such a wonderful trip to Azores Portugal that I spread good words about Gate 1 travel and Sao Miguel Island, Azores. Thank you so much for the opportunity to fly direct from Toronto to Sao Miguel. I was grateful to Gate 1 that I was able to visit one of Azores islands, it was one of my long-standing wishful places. And Neat Hotel staff were very nice, making my stay there quite enjoyable.

Our Azores trip was great. Weather fabulous, staff at hotel over the top. Location of hotel so central and convenient. The room was clean, very large with good amenities. The island was just as magical as I remembered it to be. Lush green. The flight with SATA was good, basic but satisfactory. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone. Value for dollar a bonus

Our trip to the Azores was amazing! We booked the trip because of the price and the dates (lined up with our spring break from school) and we couldn't be happier! Sao Miguel is an amazing island with beautiful scenery and friendly people. We thoroughly enjoyed every part of the trip. We are looking forward to returning sometime to try the thermal pools (they were closed for refurbishment while we were there) and also to take a whale watching tour (which would be a terrific optional tour for Gate 1 to offer - hint, hint). Thanks for offering this tour. This is not a destination that had been on my radar, but I will definitely go back again!

Ponta Delgada is beautiful. Lots to do and see..Pineapple plantation, lava tube cave, thermal pool baths, etc. Lots of great restaurants with excellent food with services. People are welcoming and friendly. Easy to drive around the island.

Our trip to San Miguel Was fantastic. The Hotel Atlantico was in a very convenient location, right across from the pier, with many restaurants to choose from. Ponta Delgado is a charming town, very walkable, filled with friendly people. The island itself is beautiful. We took an optional tour to Furnas; our guide Hugo was knowledgeable and funny! I would recommend this trip to anyone.

We had a great time! Everything went smoothly. Good flight, pickup at airport went well, hotel was good, optional tours were fun, pickup for the airport was right on time, and flight home was good, too. Couldn't ask for better... Gate 1 did a fine job of organizing this. Even though it was an independent tour, it didn't feel like one as we had the same tour guide on all three optional tours, and we met 6 other wonderful Gate 1 travelers.

Another great Gate 1 independent vacation. There were 3 couples in this party. The hotel & it's location in the middle of all the action was great in downtown Ponta Delgada. Steps from restaurants, bars, shopping and the ocean front. The costs of meals & entertainment were very reasonable. Flights and Airport-Hotel transfers worked like a charm. Would highly recommend this vacation.

It was fab!!! The food, wine, culture, architecture, the people - all wonderful. Loved that pretty much everywhere they accepted CCs, so there's minimal need for currency. Our unguided (no tour manager) trip to Barcelona was wonderful! My wife and I both had some trepidation before going. We had not traveled without a guided format in decades; that forced us to do our homework and plan out our days. We were able to spend more time at the sites that most interested us. The trip was amazing value. Truly, we can't figure out the math to understand how you can offer such a trip for that cost. The hotel was very nice, in an excellent location and we all had a wonderful time. We will be on Gate 1 again in May and have converted our friends as well.
