Our trip to Scandinavia was absolutely amazing! Our tour guide, Anneli was the best tour guide we ever experienced. We would travel with her almost anywhere. This was our second Gate 1 trip and we plan to do more. Thank you for providing great amenities and outstanding guides!

This was my first "Stay & Explore" style vacation; which provided a great opportunity to get to really know Copenhagen. Our tour guide Michael was fantastic. He provided great insight into the culture, provided good ideas for free time exploration; as well as took the time to get to know everyone on the tour. I've already booked another "Stay & Explore" in Prague!

Just want to say how pleased we are with the care Gate 1 representatives show when a problem arises. Our flights to Reykjavik were cancelled and rebooked by IcelandAir multiple times on the day of travel and we arrived a day late for our tour. We called Gate I each time the airline changed our flight, and it was comforting to find our driver with the Gate 1 sign waiting for us when we finally arrived! Our tour manager, Omar was fantastic and very knowledgeable about all our destinations. Fusi, our bus driver, had an engaging personality and connected with each passenger in our group while safely driving us throughout Iceland. This was our seventh trip with Gate 1 and our appreciation and confidence in your selection of tour operators keeps us coming back every time! Thank you for providing excellent service!

Just completed Scandinavian tour with Christian. His knowledge about the countries is incredible. We learned a lot. He was so helpful to all of us with his trainee Lasie. They catered to our needs and resolved our needs asap. Christian is one of the best tour manager we had.

Christian was an excellent trip leader. He really set a great tone for the group. He was somehow calm and relaxed and funny while making a group of 38 feel like a small group. Sven, our driver and the guy training both went above and beyond to make sure we had a smooth and easy trip. This was my 9th Gate One trip and I never cease to be amazed by the value, the experiences provided and the kindred spirits Gate One attracts as customers.

This was one of the best trips I have ever taken. The itinerary was excellent, the food was great, and the attention to passenger comfort exceeded my expectations. Bergur was an outstanding guide, and Robert was an excellent driver. During Happy Hour, they often stayed with the group and joined us at the tables, which gave us the chance to get to know them better and learn more about Iceland. They also kept us engaged throughout the journey, whether on the bus or at each stop. This was my third trip to Iceland, and it far surpassed the other two. Even when the weather was less than ideal, including a couple of snowy days, the team went above and beyond to keep us entertained and comfortable. Bergur's informative stories, complete with funny and dramatic retellings of Icelandic troll legends, were especially enjoyable. Airport pickup and the return transfer were seamless, and we never had to worry about anything along the way.

Denmark was wonderful; by luck, we had the perfect weather the whole week we were there. The tour manager (Michael) was awesome. His 'dad jokes' were hilarious. He went out of his way to treat us with Danish local foods and even arranged a picnic during an excursion. His friendliness and professionalism helped in maintaining group harmony and timeliness. Copenhagen was an excellent spot for this 'stay & explore' tour. All the 'included' and 'optional' tours were very enjoyable and within reasonable driving/walking distance from Copenhagen.

Amazing! We had a wonderful time! We were in good hands with Berglind (our guide) and Danni (our driver) as we traveled, explored, and learned the local lore and customs of Iceland. The trip included many wonderful destinations and the suggested add-on excursions were fantastic. Berglind was knowledgeable, funny, caring, and friendly throughout the trip. She was on top of everyone's dietary needs and made sure that those concerns were communicated at each stop. Danni kept us safe as we drove through the unpredictable Icelandic weather en route to each destination. We look forward to traveling with Gate 1 again.

We were recently on a trip to Iceland with our tour guide, Sigridur. She was wonderful! She was knowledgeable, kind, helpful, organized and kept us entertained with interesting local stories and songs. She also went out of her way to retrieve my daughter's water bottle that she had left behind. I just wanted to express how fortunate we felt with having Sigridur as our guide! She really made the trip special. Overall, everything was amazing and we will travel with Gate 1 again in the future! Thank you for offering this great itinerary to Iceland.

My most recent trip in March 2026 was the 8 Day Affordable Iceland with Lagoons & Northern Lights Hunt. Iceland was beautiful, clean, safe and the food was delicious. The meals provided by Gate1 were excellent, the aurora borealis was amazing and the geothermal pools were gorgeous. Our tour manager Sigridur filled our time with Icelandic history, folklore and personal stories. When our departing flights were all cancelled due to extreme winds, Sigridur went above and beyond to make sure we were all taken care of. She made our wonderful trip into an exceptional experience. I hope she knows how much we all appreciated her.

Marianne was an absolutely fantastic tour manager! She was incredibly knowledgeable and always happy to help, answering every question with a warm smile. Her pride in Iceland was obvious, and it truly enhanced our experience. You could tell how much she loves her country, and her enthusiasm made the tour even more special. Raynir was a wonderful driver. He was extremely careful on the road, especially when the weather required extra caution, which made us feel very safe throughout the trip. He was always friendly, helpful, and handled our luggage with great care. Together, Marianne and Raynir made the tour enjoyable, comfortable, and memorable. We couldn't have asked for a better team!

It was great! Tour guide Thor and driver Daniel amazing. It was a very nice travel group as well, the sites were well explained and interesting. It was our first trip and we will be back!

It was incredible - we absolutely loved our trip. We were so impressed and grateful for both our tour guide, Þor B , and our driver, Daniel. Þor B was outstanding. He shared so much knowledge about Iceland, answered our endless questions with enthusiasm, and made us feel truly welcome. When weather conditions changed, he pivoted quickly and seamlessly. He even went outside throughout the night checking the skies for the northern lights and had us regroup when there was a chance to see them. He truly went above and beyond - even arranging for us to try a special butter at lunch after we mentioned how cool it looked! Daniel was equally amazing. His driving was incredibly smooth and calm - we kept joking that we would fall asleep if we weren't staring out the window at Iceland's beauty. He also took time at stops to talk with us and share his own knowledge, which meant a lot. Even though we didn't get to see the northern lights, everything about the trip felt magical - the scenery, the history, the lagoons, and especially the people. We are so thankful for a team that made our experience unforgettable.

Thank you Gate1 for a great itinerary to pursuit northern lights while cruising down the Norwegian coast. Our tour manager Micke raised the bar for all the tour guides I had. Not only did he have all the qualifications of a good tour manager: clear instructions, preparations, knowledge, presentations, etc. He showed passion, enthusiasm, and willingness to share information. Micke went the extra mile in making us comfortable during the tour.

I just completed the Independent 7 Day Reykjavik Vacation trip. It was fantastic and I couldn't ask for a better trip. The hotel was rated at 3 Stars, but my room was so clean and comfortable I must give a higher rating. They provide a delicious breakfast with many options. I had a 14.5-hour tour, so I was going to have to skip breakfast. My plan was to get something out of the 1011 Store that is open 24 hours per day and conveniently located near the hotel. However, the hotel prepared a delicious breakfast box with sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, breakfast bars, drinks, etc. I ate some of it that morning and the rest throughout my excursion. Everything was good and plentiful. The staff were very helpful. In terms of location, I would have to give that 100 stars. I bought a Reykjavik pass to visit museums. On my first museum day everything was in walking distance, I visited 6 different museums and, in the evening, ended at the Flyover Iceland and Lava show. Public transportation was easy to understand, and it was easy to get around as I visited an island included in my pass the next day. I loved my trip to Iceland and hope I can return next year. I want to do the fly and drive. I only signed up for one of the Gate 1 excursions, while it went my own way, I'm so happy the offer was there. Thanks for a wonderful trip.

The trip to Iceland was amazing. We were pleased with all our tours that were booked prior to trip. My sisters and I highly recommend this Independent excursion.

Iceland Trip was great ! Cold & Windy, but Great! Our tour manager, Oli was exceptional, as well as Stefan our driver. I realize that touring Iceland in the winter is very different than Spring & Summer. It was unique & challenging due to the weather. Loved the 3 spa experiences and the awesome waterfalls. Glad to be in Reykjavik during the festive holiday season with all the many decorations and lights throughout. We did see the Northern Lights via Boat Tour in the evening - spectacular !

My trip to Iceland was FANTASTIC. Gate 1 provided a LIFETIME EXPERIENCE by having this tour include 4 NIGHTS OF NORTHERN LIGHTS!!!! While I had seen them in 1999 in Alaska, this trip provided me with 360 degrees of DANCING LIGHTS. THANK YOU.

I can't say enough good things about our guide Linda. She is, by far, the best tour guide we've experienced on our trips. She was fun, amusing, caring, helpful, well-informed, etc. She went out of her way to help anyone that needed it, including one of our travel companions. This did not seem like a job to her but rather a "calling" to make sure everyone experienced Iceland in the best possible way. The trip was well-planned and the activities were great, but Linda made the experience much better.

My trip was fantastic. The tour guide RJ was the best I have ever had and I've been all over the world. She is special and Gate 1 is very lucky to have her. The tour was filled with non stop adventure. The hotels were wonderful and food choices were terrific. Driver Danny was a part of the trip experience and not just a driver. Using local people makes the tour 10x better. I'm still enjoying the trip through my memories.

Our guide Johanna is outstanding. She is friendly, very pleasant, organized and efficient. She brought us lots favorite local goodies, sang and played the piano for us. The entire group loved her BIG time. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and look forward to traveling

My trip to Iceland was great. The Center Plaza Hotel was perfectly located, the rooms were modern and comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed perfect weather. All purchased excursions were informative and fun. Reykjavík's bus system is a bit chaotic, however. I missed the presence of a tour guide! Thanks for another great value travel experience!

I just want to reiterate what a great trip this was. And, to say that Gate 1 consistently has excellent tours. I will be back for more.

I wanted to give an EXTRA shout out to my recent guide, Linda, on the "8 Day Affordable Iceland with Lagoons & Northern Lights Hunt." Linda was wonderfully skilled and organized at handling special meal requests! I was SO happy at each meal to be served something I would enjoy and that was all because of Linda! Our driver, Alli, was great too. :) And a quick note, Hotel Hussafel was amazing--absolutely loved it and would've loved more time there.

This was my first Gate 1 tour. Our tour manager Linda was excellent as well as our driver Dunni. I can't thank them enough for making our Iceland trip such a terrific experience. Just returned from a tour of Iceland. We can't praise our tour manager, Bergur and driver, Fusi enough! Their knowledge and passion for their home was beyond amazing. Every aspect of the trip was absolutely wonderful. It was our first tour ever and it did not disappoint. Loved every day of the tour, it was well planned and the accommodations were excellent. Our trip was AMAZING!!! Gate 1 planned this trip perfectly!! Every sightseeing experience had the *WOW* factor and even the indoor events (e.g. FlyOver, LAVA) way surpassed my expectations. The food was also very delicious. Everything was sequenced very well, too. Ending the trip with the Blue Lagoon made great sense as by then we were fully concealed as a group so it was a fun social event as well as an amazing experience in its own right. I wouldn't change a thing. I am recommending Gate 1 to everyone I know!

Iceland is a beautiful country with so much to see and do. We toured Reykjavik with Margret, our tour manager, who was extremely knowledgeable on all things Iceland. . Our driver,even dropped us off in the city for additional sightseeing during our leisure time if we chose to go. There were so many highlights, such as walking behind the Seljalandsfoss waterfall and having lunch in the Friemeier greenhouse. Another highlight was the Blue Lagoon, which was an included, not optional, tour. Although this Iceland tour was only six days, they were packed with exciting sights. This was my sixth Gate 1 tour and is among my favorites.

I just wanted to congratulate Oli our TM and Daniel our driver. Oli is an absolute gem, nice, caring, so knowledgeable, funny, very organized, it was a real pleasure to spend this week with him, he made the tour absolutely perfect, shared his passion for his island, had plenty of great local stories to tell, he is a wonderful person. Daniel is a great driver, a very nice and funny man, he was super caring, distributing water on the bus several times a day, standing by the doors to help clients get off, spending time with the group, making all us safe and comfortable ... it did feel like a family tour, the group harmony was incredible, thanks to all the clients who were nice, fun and respectful of the timings, and to Oli and Daniel who welcomed us in their country like family. Well done both of them, the perfect team, they made our holidays unforgettable!

Just want to give a shout out to Victor, our tour guide. He was personable, helpful, knowledgeable, funny, skilled in dealing with varying personalities, generous (provided regional treats throughout the tour), safety conscious, and kind to everyone. He also had a lot of interesting, informative, humorous stories along the way. He worked especially hard to get our fjord tour rebooked the following day after Storm Amy shut down the cruise line. He worked very hard to make sure, throughout the whole tour, that people were happy; knew things to see and do on our own; and were informed of local culture, history and geography. Victor made the tour as enjoyable as it could possibly be, and we so appreciate his efforts in making it so!

Our trip to Iceland was great. We enjoyed the Golden Circle and South Shore excursions. Hotel Klettur was nice, the staff very friendly and helpful, and in a great location. We liked doing the independent tour here because it gave us time to explore Reykjavik on our own and enjoy meals out. We arrived in Reykjavik a day before the tour started, and stayed 2 days after, so had plenty of time to enjoy Iceland.

It was wonderful. Our guide Johnny was the perfect combination of informative and funny. Loved the people we met and the natural beauty of the landscapes.

Our Scandinavia trip was great ! It was sunny every day (which we now know is pretty much unheard of there), and that meant we were always outside enjoying the spectacular scenery. Copenhagen, Oslo, and Bergen are beautiful cities and easily walkable. Our hotel in Oslo was really close to the Opera House, and we were able to get tickets ! Sebastian, our guide, was really knowledgeable, plus very approachable, personable, and fun. Great trip !

Having never traveled with Gate 1, I didn't know what to expect. The trip exceeded my expectations. I have traveled with other companies and I enjoyed this trip far more than any previous experience. First our tour leader Zoran is amazing - personable, knowledgeable and a born story teller. He insured everyone had a great time. The variety of experiences ran the gambit from educational to fun to nature-filled. Highlights included the Nobel Peace museum in Oslo and the farm visit to Ovre Eide Gard. ( Many other activities were amazing also.) We had many varied photo opts and time to explore on our own. Local guides were all quality and enthusiastic. The food was excellent and plentiful. (Bathroom breaks worked well and we're always in clean facilities.) I can't say enough positive about our trip. I will look for other opportunities to travel with Gate 1 and certainly I will tell all my friends. Thank you.

I want to let you know that Linda, our tour guide was really fantastic. She was so knowledgeable and shared not only details about what we were seeing but also insight into the Icelandic people. She clearly was proud of Iceland and its people and we were able to learn about the culture and people as well. She also was funny, informative, friendly and non intrusive. I think she is a fantastic tour guide and I wish I could book my next tour with her!

My husband and I just finished an 9 day Iceland Gate 1 tour. I just want to let you know that Linda, our guide, was the best guide we have experienced among all Gate 1 tours we have taken. She is super organized, super knowledgeable, and did an excellent job at explaining Iceland's nature, history, culture, current events. We felt we learned a great deal about Iceland, and will remember this trip for a long time. She is also very thorough, and proactively took care of each and all tour members' needs. She is a model tour guide!

I don't usually give extra comments but felt I needed to for this trip. It was the best trip I have taken with gate 1 and other tours with other tour groups. Part of this is because of the mix of culture, history and beauty of the tour and the way Gate 1 presented it. It was magnificent. More importantly for me it was our tour guide Stephanie who presented a very high level of engagement, enthusiasm and curiosity every day which elevated the emotional part of the trip. You couldn't help but be engaged during the entire trip and wonder about a whole bunch of stuff you never thought you could wonder about. She was so knowledgeable, fun and approachable. A fabulous memory.

This was my first Gate 1 trip, and I have taken other small group land tours with other similar companies, so I can compare. I was very pleased with this trip and will consider traveling with Gate I again. I chose it for the itinerary, and it did not disappoint. Each location offered great local guides, very good accommodations and meals. The additional activities were all worthwhile- the candy making, the ski jump sites, and the farm near Bergen. Our host on the farm, by name of Arild was exceptional to gain an insight into the life of someone, keeping farmstead life alive amidst the current national system. One suggestion would be to have a complimentary visit with younger people in modern day Norway, say college students to see their perspective on life other prospects given the world situation. Our trip leader Zoran was exceptional in his professional manner and complete attention to detail and friendly personality...this contributed to our group of 16 becoming good travel companions and having an overall wonderful experience.

Mickie was a terrific tour manager. He was very knowledgeable, personable, efficient, and professional. He truly cared about our experience and kept us well informed and entertained with his personal stories and experiences as they related to Norwegian culture, traditions, and way if life.

The 6 days Iceland tour was an excellent value which captured the unique "fire and ice" beauty of Iceland in a short time. Our fantastic guide Hanna and skilled driver Alli made the experience truly enjoyable and memorable. Hanna is a truly remarkable host and guide. Her passion for sharing Icelandic culture is contagious, and her patience and deep knowledge made every moment both educational and fun.

The trip to Sweden and Norway with your Discovery Tours was the first trip we have taken with a tour group. We were so impressed with the entire trip. It was informative, well planned and had the best tour guide, MaLou, and bus driver, Finn, that I could imagine. The tour gave us a great overview of both countries. We plan to go back and see even more of Sweden and Norway one day. The guides for individual sites were great. We learned so much and have fallen in love with the people. MaLou and Finn took everything in stride. They were both so calm. Itinerary was changed due to the weather seamlessly. Everything just flowed so well. Our luggage was taken care of by Finn, which was so appreciated. I cannot say enough about MaLou. Her enthusiasm for these countries was wonderful. I felt that I learned so much about the land, the culture and the people from her. She was always willing to talk about any questions we had about these. She encouraged getting to know the people on our tour even though we were with another couple. We all ate and spent time with everyone. I really appreciate this. It is easy to do what is comfortable, but she made everything comfortable. She was always available. One couple lost their phone, and she was able to get it back to them very quickly. I love her easy-going demeanor. Nothing seemed to upset her, even when people were late in the morning. The itinerary always worked out. Thank you for putting together this trip and especially thank you for MaLou being our guide. I am not sure you can top this trip, but we will most definitely try some of your other trips.

It's our first vacation with a tour group and Gate 1. We have always traveled on our own with me planning the itinerary. Gate 1s cost was so reasonable, we were not sure what to expect. We thought everything planned by Gate 1 for this short Iceland trip was amazing. There was lots of very clear information and instruction prior to the trip. Once in Iceland, everything went smoothly, we were met at the airport, directed to our bus and taken for a wonderful breakfast. Our guide, Serri was attentive, helpful and informative. She was Outstanding. The tours planned covered all the Iceland highlights and we were given ample time at each stop to explore or shop. Ten meals were included, and for the price of the tour we were not expecting such delicious, well presented meals. The hotel in Haller was in the middle of no where but was lovely, food was great, room was clean and comfortable. And staff could not have done more to accommodate us! We will certainly recommend this Iceland tour with Gate 1. We will definitely use Gate 1 again.
